On 10 February 2018, at approximately 18:13 HKT, a Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) double-decker bus flipped onto its side on Tai Po Road in Tai Po, New Territories. The crash killed 19 people and injured 65. The incident, also known as the 872 accident (Chinese: 872意外) after the number of the route the bus was traveling on, was Hong Kong's second-deadliest road traffic accident, behind a 2003 incident on Tuen Mun Road which killed 21.In July 2020, the bus captain was sentenced to imprisonment for 14 years over the crash. In addition, he is no longer allowed to drive any vehicles.

Kau To Hang (Chinese: 九肚坑) is a river in Sha Tin District, New Territories, Hong Kong. Its source starts near Cheung Lek Mei, inside Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve. It flows eastward past Nim Au, Ma Niu, Kau To, collecting minor streams on the way. Finally, it empties into Sha Tin Hoi, part of Tolo Harbour.

The Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve, also called Tai Po Kau Special Area, is a nature reserve in the Tai Po area of the New Territories in northern Hong Kong. The area comprises a dense, hilly woodland with over 100 species of trees and numerous streams and rivers. It is one of the most biologically diverse forests in Hong Kong. It is noted by the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society and others as one of the best locations for seeing forest birds in Hong Kong.

Mang Gui Kiu (also called: Haunted Bridge, Ghost Bridge) (Chinese: 猛鬼橋) is a bridge situated in Tsung Tsai Yuen (松仔園), Tai Po Kau, Tai Po District, New Territories, Hong Kong. It was originally named Hung Shui Kiu (Bridge of Flooding) for being frequently overflown by heavy rains. In 1955, a group of teachers and students from St. James' Settlement died in an accident on a day of heavy rain. Ghost haunting stories related to the incident have continued in the area ever since.

Pak Shek Kok (Chinese: 白石角; Jyutping: baak6 sek6 gok3; pinyin: Báishíjiǎo) is a place in Tai Po District in Hong Kong, located between Ma Liu Shui and Tai Po Kau, close to Cheung Shue Tan (樟樹灘) and facing Tolo Harbour (Tai Po Hoi). The Kowloon–Canton Railway, Tolo Highway, Hong Kong Science Park are all situated on the reclamation outside Pak Shek Kok.

Lee Woo Sing College is one of the new colleges of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It was founded by university council in 2007 and admitted its first class of students in 2011. The naming of the college is made possible by a HK$150 million donation and is named after entrepreneur Lee Woo Sing.
