Jamesbrook (Irish: Sruthán Shéamais) is a townland in the civil parish of Garranekinnefeake, in the historical Barony of Imokilly, in County Cork, Ireland. As of the 2011 census, the townland of Jamesbrook had a population of 39 people.Historically the townland was the location of an estate, Jamesbrook estate, which belonged to the Earl of Inchiquin. A house, Jamesbrook Hall, was originally built on the estate in the late 17th century by Michael Goold. It was reputedly built during the short reign of King James II, hence its name. Goold originally rented the estate, but subsequently bought the land. The property remained in the family after he died in 1722. A new manor house was built on the estate in the late 18th century. Michael Goold's daughter Frances married Wallis Adams (1749-1818). Their son, Michael Goold Adams, occupied the estate in 1814.

Aghada GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Aghada, Cork, Ireland. The club fields both Gaelic football and hurling teams in competitions organized by Cork County Board. The club is part of the Imokilly division of Cork. The former Cork football manager, Conor Counihan is a member of the club.

Rostellan (Irish: Ros Tialláin) is a civil parish, townland and village in the historical Barony of Imokilly, County Cork, Ireland. An electoral division of the same name forms part of the Cork East Dáil constituency. For census purposes, the village of Rostellan is combined with the neighbouring villages of Farsid and Aghada. As of the 2011 census, the combined settlement of Aghada-Farsid-Rostellan had a population of 1,015 people.

East Ferry is an area of East Cork overlooking Cork Harbour in Ireland. The area takes its name from a ferry which historically crossed the channel separating Garranekinnefeake promontory (close to Midleton) from Great Island (close to Cobh).East Ferry, a residential area on the Eastern side of this channel, is in the civil parish of Garranekinnefeake. Notable buildings in the area include Holy Trinity church, a 19th-century church in the Church of Ireland Diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, which was designed by architect William Atkins. A coastguard station was also previously located in the area.East Ferry Marina, a commercial marina on the Western side of the channel, is in the Marlogue area of Great Island. A sailing school, 'SailCork', operates from the marina.

The R630 road is a regional road in southeast County Cork, Ireland. It travels from the R907 road at Midleton's Youghal Road, southwards through Ballinacurra and westwards through Rostellan, and turning south again through Whitegate. The statutary definition gives it as beginning at the R629 in Ballinacurra, but all maps and other material assign the Midleton–Ballinacurra stretch to the R630.

Saleen (Irish: Sáilín) is a small village and census town in County Cork, Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of Garranekinnefeake, in the Cork County Council municipal district of East Cork. Saleen lies on the R630 regional road between Midleton and Whitegate.Evidence of ancient settlement in the area includes a megalithic portal tomb in Saleen Creek near Rostellan, and ringfort sites in the neighbouring townlands of Scartlea Lower and Jamesbrook. The local church, the Church of the Mother of God, is in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cloyne and is dated to c. 1801. It is listed on Cork County Council's Record of Protected Structures.At the start of the 2020 school year, Saleen's national (primary) school had an enrollment of over 450 pupils. The village had a population of 445 as of the 2016 census, up from 374 as of the 2011 census.

Holy Trinity Church is a small Gothic Revival Anglican church located in East Ferry, County Cork, Ireland. It was completed in 1830. It is dedicated to the Trinity. It is the church for Gurranekennefeake parish, part of the Diocese of Cork, Cloyne, and Ross. It is included on Cork County Council's Record of Protected Structures.

The R631 road is a short regional road in County Cork, Ireland. It travels from the R630 road at Whitewell Cross, Crochane, eastwards into the crossroads at Rock Street, Cloyne.

United States Naval Air Station Queenstown was the first US Naval Air Station established in Ireland. NAS Queenstown was close to the village of Aghada on the eastern side of Cork Harbour (across the harbour from Queenstown/Cobh). NAS Queenstown was commissioned on 22 February 1918 with LCDR Paul J. Peyton, USNRF, Naval Aviator 47 in command.

Aghada (Irish: Áth Fhada, meaning 'long ford') is a village in County Cork, Ireland. It is situated on the eastern side of Cork Harbour, around 12 km by road south of Midleton. Aghada is also the parish name for the area. The civil parish of Aghada consists of several small villages and townlands including Saleen, Scartleigh, Rostellan, Farsid, Upper Aghada, Lower Aghada, Whitegate, Guileen and Ballinrostig. There are several amenity sites in the area, including Rostellan Woods and Saleen Creek, as well as a number of beaches such as Inch Bay, White Bay, and Guileen Strand. Aghada is within the Cork East Dáil constituency. Aghada power station was originally built in the early 1980s and produced up to 577 MW through the burning of natural gas and diesel. An additional gas-powered 430 MW CCGT unit was completed in 2010, making Aghada station one of the largest power stations in the Republic of Ireland.There is a Presbyterian church in Upper Aghada. During World War I the Royal Munster Fusiliers (reserves) were garrisoned in Aghada, and there was a United States Naval Air Station in the area. William Cosgrove, a World War I recipient of the Victoria Cross, is buried in Upper Aghada cemetery.The area is the home of the Aghada GAA club.

Ballinacurra (Irish: Baile na Cora, meaning 'town of the weir') is a small harbour village on the outskirts of Midleton, County Cork. It is about 18 km south east of Cork city. The village lies at the confluence of the Owenacurra River and the east channel of Cork Harbour. It served as the port for the town of Midleton, which is less than 2 km north of Ballinacurra, for centuries and became a loading and unloading point for coal, timber, iron and slate and later flax for the linen industry.The port of Ballinacurra closed in 1962 as it was deemed too expensive to dredge the growing levels of silt and mud at the entrance to the small harbour. It is now used mainly for small leisure boats. The man who is believed to have discovered Antarctica in 1820, Edward Bransfield, was born and raised in Ballinacurra.

Kindred Spirits is a large stainless steel outdoor sculpture in Bailick Park in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland.Kindred Spirits commemorates the 1847 donation by the Native American Choctaw People to Irish famine relief during the Great Hunger, despite the Choctaw themselves living in hardship and poverty and having recently endured the Trail of Tears. While records of the exact amount of the donation vary, the figure usually given is US$170 (about $5,300 in 2022 inflation-adjusted dollars, though some methods indicate it could have been as high as $20,000 in 2015 dollars). In the U.S. coinage of the time, U.S.$170 meant 8.22 troy ounces of physical gold, or about US$14,000 in 2020 prices.The sculpture consists of nine 20-foot (6.1 m) stainless steel eagle feathers arranged in a circle, no two feathers being identical, forming a bowl shape to represent a gift of a bowl of food. It was created by Alex Pentek at the Sculpture Factory in Cork, Ireland, with assistance from students of the Crawford College of Art and Design, and installed in Bailick Park in 2015. The memorial was commissioned by Midleton Town Council, and was officially unveiled and dedicated in June 2017 by Chief Gary Batton, Chief of the Choctaw Nation, Assistant Chief Jack Austin Jr., and Councillor Seamus McGrath, County Mayor of Cork, accompanied by a 20-strong delegation from the Choctaw Nation.
