St. Mary’s Church, Hamilton Village, is an Episcopal Church located on the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It calls itself the Episcopal Church at Penn to emphasize its campus ministry. The parish is part of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Pennsylvania. In 2020, it reported 225 members, 51 average attendance, and plate and pledge financial support of $95,097. The church is a remnant of the Hamilton Village neighborhood that existed in West Philadelphia prior to being subsumed by the University. The land was given to the church by the Hamilton family for whom the town was named.

Established in 1999, Neighborhood Bike Works (NBW) is a nonprofit educational organization in West Philadelphia. The mission of NBW is to inspire youth and strengthen Philadelphia communities by providing equitable access to bicycling and bike repair through education, recreation, leadership and career-building opportunities.

Drexel Development Historic District is a national historic district located in the University City neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It encompasses 96 contributing rowhouses dated to the mid- to late-19th century. A number of the rowhouses were designed by architect Samuel Sloan. The architectural firm G. W. & W. D. Hewitt designed rowhouses for developer Anthony Joseph Drexel on the block bounded by Pine, new 39th, Baltimore, and 40th Streets. They are representative of a number of popular architectural styles including Second Empire, Italianate, and High Victorian.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The 40th Street Portal, also known as simply 40th Street station, is a SEPTA Subway-Surface Lines trolley station in Philadelphia. At this station's portal, four of the five Subway-Surface Lines enter the Woodland Avenue subway tunnel after running on the street in Southwest Philadelphia and nearby suburbs. Eastbound trolleys run in the tunnel under the nearby campuses of the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University to Center City Philadelphia. Westbound trolleys travel to the Philadelphia neighborhoods of Eastwick and Angora and the Delaware County suburbs of Yeadon and Darby. The station is located above ground at the entrance to the tunnel in a plaza between Woodland Avenue and Baltimore Avenue at 40th Street, adjacent to The Woodlands. When the tunnel is closed, trolleys are re-routed along 42nd Street to terminate at the 40th Street station of the Market–Frankford Line and do not serve this station.

Hamilton Family Estate is a set of nine historic homes located in the Spruce Hill, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were built between about 1853 and 1863, and are representative examples of the Italianate-style of architecture. They are commonly built of stucco and masonry, with porches and bracketed cornices. The houses at 400 S. 40th Street and 4000 and 4002 Pine Street are believed to have been designed by architect Samuel Sloan.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Pennsylvania Hotel, now known as Chestnut Hall, was designed by Clarence E. Wunder, and built in 1922. Wunder is also responsible for designing Bonwit Teller at 1700 Walnut St (in 1927) and the Neuweiler Brewery (in 1913). The 10-story building's architectural style is Renaissance revival. The building consists of a steel structure, a cement and brick facade, and an entablature with accompanying cornice along the top. Once built, the building served as the Hotel Pennsylvania. In the 1940s it became known as the Hotel Philadelphia. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, it was known as the Penn Sherwood Hotel. In June 2006 Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco) bought a majority stake of the property.

The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House was the first of the Ronald McDonald House Charities and now stands at 39th and Chestnut Streets in West Philadelphia.

Woodland Terrace is a street name and a small neighborhood of Italianate twin mansions in the West Philadelphia section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places on March 16, 1972. The street runs from Baltimore Avenue to Woodland Avenue between 40th and 41st streets. Architect Samuel Sloan designed the houses along the street and in several other nearby areas. Woodland Terrace was built in 1861 by Charles M. S. Leslie. Twentieth-century architect Paul Cret lived at 516 Woodland Terrace for much of his career in Philadelphia.

The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, commonly referred to as Penn Vet was founded in 1884. It has two campuses; the main campus is located in Philadelphia, and a second campus is located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. At the Philadelphia campus, first-, second-, and third-year veterinary students attend classes. It is also the home to numerous research facilities as well as the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital, a veterinary teaching hospital. The school's second campus, New Bolton Center, is located on some 700 acres of rural Chester County, Pennsylvania, is home to the George D. Widener Hospital for Large Animals. Over 6,000 veterinarians have graduated from the school, the only veterinary school in Pennsylvania. The school awards the Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) degree rather than a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). It also offers a VMD-PhD program and a VMD-MBA program. Penn Vet is the only veterinary school in the United States that was a direct outgrowth of the University's School of Medicine in this case Penn Med.Since 1935, Penn Vet has offered courses for advanced work in veterinary pathology leading to master and doctoral degrees in conjunction with and cooperation by Penn Med.

Pennsylvania Railroad Freight Building is a historic freight station, warehouse and showroom building located in the University City neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1929, and is a six-story, flat roofed building in the Art Deco style. The first floor is clad in limestone and the upper stories are of buff-colored brick. Each floor contains approximately 88,000 square feet.From 1956 to 1993, it was the GE Re-entry Systems facility, where "thousands of engineers and technicians who solved the problem of vehicles successfully reentering the Earth's atmosphere" for NASA. Among the achievements of the men and women working at the facility is "the recovery of the first man-made object from orbit," a unique milestone for humanity. Generations of University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University students who worked there know it as "The GE Building". For this work, The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) designated it as an Historic Aerospace Site in 2007.The building has been converted to residential use and is now known as the Left Bank. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

40th Street station is an underground station on the SEPTA Market-Frankford Line, located the intersection of 40th Street and Market Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on the line between the Spruce Hill and Powelton Village neighborhoods in the University City District of West Philadelphia. The station serves a major shopping corridor of West Philadelphia on 40th Street, as well as the campus of the University of Pennsylvania, which lies three blocks south of the station. The station is served by SEPTA City Bus routes 30, 40 and LUCY. The station also serves as the inbound terminal for the SEPTA subway-surface trolley lines when services are diverted from the Market Street tunnels –– on Mondays from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. and during any other unforeseen circumstances. All five trolley routes terminate at the intersection 40th Street and Market Street, just outside entrances to the Market–Frankford platforms.
