Alaska Pacific University (APU) is a private university in Anchorage, Alaska. It was established as Alaska Methodist University in 1957. Although it was renamed to Alaska Pacific University in 1978, it is still affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The main campus is located adjacent to the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and the Alaska Native Medical Center.

The Atwood Campus Center is the student center of Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage, Alaska. It is a two-story square building 113 feet (34 m) on each side, elevated on a podium extending ten or more feet to each side. It is flanked by two residence halls, which, although also 25 feet (7.6 m) in height, have three stories. This complex was designed by Edward Durell Stone and built in 1966, when the school was known as Alaska Methodist University. This complex has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its significance as the site of a major 1971 conference of more than 600 Alaska Native representatives, at which they formally accepted the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, landmark legislation which fundamentally altered the handling of land ownership and use in the state, particularly with respect to native title, which had long clouded many real estate transfers.The center is effectively managed by the student population, providing spaces for meeting and relaxation, as well as a kitchen and dining area, and offices for a variety of student services. The residence halls continue to be used as student housing: the south hall houses incoming freshmen, while the north hall houses upperclass students in suites.

The Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) is a non-profit health center based in Anchorage, Alaska, United States, which provides medical services to 158,000 Alaska Natives and other Native Americans in Alaska. It acts as both the secondary and tertiary care referral hospital for the Alaska Region of the Indian Health Service (IHS). Established in 1997, ANMC is jointly owned and managed by the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and Southcentral Foundation as well as tribal governments, and their regional health organizations.The hospital is a 380,635 sq ft, 167-bed facility which opened in May 1997. It has a staff which includes over 250 physicians. ANMC is one of only two level II trauma centers in Alaska. The center is part of the Alaska Federal Health Care Access Network that provides telehealth services to 180 Alaska Native community village clinics. ANTHC opened a 202-bed patient housing facility connected by skybridge to ANMC on January 2, 2017. Ronald McDonald House occupies the 6th floor of patient housing for families and expectant mothers with high risk pregnancies. This is the first tribal partnership between Ronald McDonald House Charities and a tribal organization. ANMC had previously achieved magnet status but was unable to maintain it as of 2019. The largest hospital in United States Public Health Service history, the center was built with 168 million in federal funds secured by Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska after a thirty-year congressional battle. The design architects were assisted by a Native Alaskan design committee with the goal of integrating their traditional values, design esthetics, lifestyles, and environmental concerns into a state of the art hospital. This resulted in a modern facility with an atmosphere comfortable to Native Alaskans by using natural lighting, expansive views to the outside, traditional finishes and textures typical of Native Alaskans, as well as Native crafts and artwork displays. Construction was completed by a team of contractors and architects headed by Public Health Service professionals. Quyana Hospitality Services is a complimentary service available to patients. Services include assistance with Medicaid extensions, housing upon provider referral, and patient travel within the Anchorage service area or following patient medevac to ANMC upon provider referral. The old ANMC facility, built in 1953 as a tuberculosis sanitarium, was seriously damaged in the 1964 Alaska earthquake, and had been slated for replacement for many years. The five-year construction project for its relocation culminated on June 2, 1997, in a one-day move of all programs, patients and departments from the old facility in downtown Anchorage to the new building six miles away.

The Alaska Airlines Center is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Anchorage, Alaska. It is located on the campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and adjacent to Providence Alaska Medical Center (PAMC).

The Anchorage Police Department (APD) is the police department of the Municipality of Anchorage in Alaska. Functioning as a service area of the Municipality, its patrol area includes the core "Anchorage bowl", the Seward Highway corridor from Potter Creek south to McHugh Creek, and the Glenn Highway corridor north of the Anchorage bowl to the municipality's border with the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, including the communities of Eagle River, Chugiak and Eklutna. Through a memorandum of understanding, APD also handles calls on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson which involve civilian suspects or victims. Serving Alaska's largest city, APD is also the only metropolitan agency and the largest municipal police force in Alaska. Unlike other Alaska police agencies except the Alaska State Troopers, APD is large enough that it is able to be the only municipal police agency that operates its own internal police academy, which is accredited by the Alaska Police Standards Council (APSC), the Alaska state law enforcement officer credentialing and regulatory agency. Applicants are also accepted as entry-level officers who have graduated from the other two police academies in the state, the paramilitary AK Trooper Academy in Sitka in SE Alaska, which trains the majority of officers in the state and the Tannana Valley Academy, which is affiliated with University of Alaska-Fairbanks (UAF). Out of state police officers are also often accepted as lateral entry candidates based on their backgrounds and training. APD Basic recruit classes are conducted as needed when sufficient vacancies arise. In-service and specialized training is also offered to APD officers and to other agency guest officers.

Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School (BDEAHS) is a public high school which serves grades 9–12 in Anchorage, Alaska, United States. It is part of the Anchorage School District. The current principal is Ron Brown. East's mascot is the Thunderbird, and the school colors are red and blue. With an enrollment of 1,765 students as of the 2019–2020 school year, East High School is the second largest school in Alaska, after West Anchorage High School, which enrolled 1,772 students in the same school year. In October 2020, it was decided by the Anchorage School District Board to rename East Anchorage High School as Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School after the late Bettye Davis.

The UAA/APU Consortium Library (Consortium Library) is a joint library serving the University of Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Pacific University, established in 1973 and refurbished in 2004. According to self-reported statistics from 2016, the library has approximately 728,000 volumes on site and averages 12,000 visitors per week during the academic year. The library has the furthest north permanent Foucault pendulum in North America.The library houses special collections, such as the Alaska Resources Library and Information Services (commonly known as ARLIS) and a large archive dedicated to preserving Alaskan history and the history of the Pacific Northwest. In 2020, the Archives and Special Collections won national recognition when awarded the John Sessions Memorial Award from the American Library Association for its creation of consolidated access to documents relating to labor. The archives also retain materials related to celebrations of historical events in Alaska, such as the centennial celebration of the naming of Mt. McKinley (now known as Denali).The architect of the original building was CCC/HOK Architects and Planners of Anchorage.

Providence Alaska Medical Center is Alaska's largest hospital by revenue and number of beds. It has 401 beds, 1190 nurses and more than 850 physicians on staff. It is often ranked the largest private employer in Alaska. It is located at 3200 Providence Drive in Anchorage, Alaska, across the street from the main campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission.

Goose Lake is a small lake in Anchorage in the U.S. state of Alaska, located near the University of Alaska Anchorage, 1.2 miles (1.9 km) south-east of confluence of North and South Forks Chester Creek, and 2.8 miles (4.5 km) south-east of Anchorage, Cook Inlet Low. It is a popular swimming location in summer, with one of two municipal beaches, and is connected to the city's extensive trail system. It is a kettle lake.

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is a public university in Anchorage, Alaska. UAA also administers four community campuses spread across Southcentral Alaska: Kenai Peninsula College, Kodiak College, Matanuska–Susitna College, and Prince William Sound College. Between the community campuses and the main Anchorage campus, roughly 15,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students are currently enrolled at UAA. It is Alaska's largest institution of higher learning and the largest university in the University of Alaska System. The university is classified among "Master's Colleges & Universities: Larger Programs" with an additional classification for Community Engagement.UAA's main campus is located approximately four miles (6.4 km) southeast of its downtown area in the University-Medical District, adjacent to the Alaska Native Medical Center, Alaska Pacific University and Providence Alaska Medical Center. Nestled among an extensive green belt, close to Goose Lake Park, UAA has been recognized as a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for ten consecutive years (2010-2019). Much of the campus is connected by a network of paved, outdoor trails, as well as an elevated, indoor "spine" that extends east to west from Rasmuson Hall, continuing through the student union and across UAA Drive (the more heavily-traveled of the two north-south roads which go through the campus) before terminating inside the Consortium Library. UAA is divided into five instructional and research units at the Anchorage campus: the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and Public Policy, the Community and Technical College, College of Engineering, and the College of Health. UAA offers master's degrees and graduate certificates in select programs, and the ability to complete certain PhD programs through cooperating universities through its Graduate Division. As of May 2012, the university is accredited to confer doctoral degrees. UAA is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. In 2019, UAA's School of Education lost Initial Preparation specialized accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The school's Advanced Preparation program successfully renewed CAEP-accreditation during annual review in 2021. As of May 2022, the School of Education has provisional approval from the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development to offer a bachelor's degree in early childhood education that leads to licensure.

Snowzilla is a giant snowman which has been erected each pre-Christmas season since 2005 in the front yard of private resident Billy Powers' home in Anchorage, Alaska. Keeping good on a promise to return again some day, Snowzilla reappeared in snowy and cold December 2023.

The Avis Alaska Sports Complex (originally the UAA Sports Center and later both the Wells Fargo Sports Complex and Seawolf Sports Complex) is a multi-purpose complex on the campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage in Anchorage, Alaska. Its ice arena, named the Chuck Homan Ice Rink, seats 800 and is the current home of the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves men's ice hockey team. The facility was built in 1978 and hosted the Seawolves hockey team from its first season in 1979 through 1983. Between 1983 and 2019, the team played at the 6,300-seat Sullivan Arena in midtown Anchorage, but continued to practice at the complex. The Seawolves moved games back to campus beginning in the 2019–20 season due to budget cuts. In June 2019, the name of the complex was changed to the Seawolf Sports Complex after UAA’s contract with Wells Fargo ended.In addition to the ice rink, the complex also has a gym, swimming pool, two fitness centers, and a dance studio.
