34th Street was an express station on the demolished IRT Ninth Avenue Line in Manhattan, New York City. It was originally built on July 30, 1873 by the New York Elevated Railroad Company, and had two levels. The lower level was built first and had two tracks and two side platforms. The upper level was built as part of the Dual Contracts and had one track and two side platforms over the lower level local tracks. It closed on June 11, 1940. This station also serviced Penn Station and was west of the IRT and IND subway stations at Penn Station.

The Sloane House YMCA, also known as William Sloane House YMCA, at 356 West 34th Street in Manhattan was the largest residential YMCA building in the nation.It was sold in 1993 for $5 million and converted to rental apartments later. Congregation Beth Israel / West Side Jewish Center / Hudson Yards Synagogue is an Orthodox congregation located at 347 West 34th Street, Manhattan, New York, in the Garment District, near Penn Station. Established in 1890, it constructed its current building in 1924–1925. Rabbis have included Joseph Schick, Norman Lamm, and Solomon Kahane. As of 2019, the rabbi was Jason Herman.

One Manhattan West is a 67-story office skyscraper at 395 Ninth Avenue in the Manhattan West development on the West Side of Manhattan in New York City, United States. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), it was completed in 2019 and is the second tower to be completed in the development after 3 Manhattan West. The tower is rectangular in plan, with a curtain wall that contains insulated glazing, as well as a reinforced-concrete mechanical core. Because One Manhattan West partially overhangs a set of railroad tracks, the mechanical core carries most of the building's structural loads. One Manhattan West was built as part of the Manhattan West development, for which Brookfield Asset Management began acquiring land in the 1980s. Work on the building started in April 2015, after law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom agreed to become the building's anchor tenant. One Manhattan West officially opened on October 30, 2019. As of 2022, a joint venture of Brookfield, the Qatar Investment Authority, and the Blackstone Group owns the building.

On March 20, 2017, Timothy Caughman, a black 66-year-old man, was collecting cans for recycling in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City when James Harris Jackson, a white 28-year-old man, approached him and stabbed him multiple times with a sword. Caughman later died of his injuries. Jackson subsequently turned himself in to police custody and confirmed that he traveled from Maryland to New York with the intention of killing black men in order to prevent white women from having interracial relationships with them.

The Eugene (also known as 3 Manhattan West), located at 435 West 31st Street, is a residential tower that is part of the Manhattan West project, and broke ground in December 2014. In 2017, it was the tallest rental skyscraper in New York City. Now complete, it stands 64 floors and 730 feet (220 m) high. In total it has 844 units, split between 675 market-rate and 169 affordable. Among the building's amenities are La Palestra gym with a full-size basketball court and rock climbing wall, Bluestone Lane coffee shop, a rooftop terrace with a private bar, poker lounges, an arcade room, private piano rooms, an indoor golf simulation, a music studio, a library with study rooms, and a dog grooming station.

Manhattan West is a 7-million-square-foot (650,000 m2) mixed-use development by Brookfield Properties, built as part of the Hudson Yards Redevelopment. The project spans 8-acres and features four office towers, one boutique hotel, one residential building, 225,000 square feet (20,900 m2) of retail space and a 2.5-acre (1 hectare) public plaza. The project was built on a platform over Penn Station storage tracks along Ninth Avenue between 32nd and 33rd Streets.The project is bordered by Tenth Avenue and the Hudson Yards mega-development to the west and Ninth Avenue and the Moynihan Train Hall to the east. The taller west tower extends 995 feet (303 m), and is one of the tallest buildings in New York City. The project was largely completed in 2021, and held its grand opening on September 28, 2021.

The Hammerstein Ballroom is a 12,000-square-foot (1,100 m2) ballroom located within the Manhattan Center at 311 West 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. The capacity of the ballroom is dependent on the configuration of the room; it seats 2,500 people for theatrical productions and musical performances, and several thousand for events held within a central ring. The floor of the ballroom is flat. The two main balconies – which are unusually close to the ground and gently sloped – seat a total of 1,200. The third balcony has been stripped of seats and is not used.

The Manhattan Center is a building in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Built in 1906 and located at 311 West 34th Street, it houses Manhattan Center Studios, the location of two recording studios; its Grand Ballroom; and the Hammerstein Ballroom, a performance venue. In 1976, the building was purchased by its current owner, the Unification Church, for $3 million.
