Waialae Country Club is a private country club in East Honolulu, Hawaii. Founded 97 years ago in 1927 and designed by Seth Raynor, it is a par 72 championship course at 7,125 yards (6,515 m) from the Championship tees. From the Members tees at 6,456 yards (5,903 m), the course rating is 71.8 with a slope rating of 136.The Waialae golf course hosts the Sony Open in Hawaii on the PGA Tour in January, the first full-field event of the calendar year. The event has had several corporate sponsors since its founding in 1965 as the Hawaiian Open. Waialae was featured in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game, True Golf Classics: Waialae Country Club, and a Nintendo 64 game Waialae Country Club: True Golf Classics, as well as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 from EA Sports and a handful of earlier games in the franchise.

The Sony Open in Hawaii is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour, and is part of the tour's FedEx Cup Series. It has been contested at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii, since the event's modern-day inception as the Hawaiian Open in November 1965.In addition to the usual PGA Tour eligibility criteria, the Sony Open may invite up to three professional golfers from emerging markets.

Kalani High School is a four-year public high school located in East Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, USA. Kalani is a part of the Hawaii Department of Education. Kalani is located on Kalanianaʻole Highway. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Opened in 1958, Kalani serves the residential areas of Niu Valley, ʻĀina Haina, ʻĀina Koa, Maunalani Heights, Waiʻalae-Kāhala, Kāhala, and portions of the Kaimukī area. The current principal is Mitchell Otani. Kalani's facilities include: 9 main buildings, a physical education locker/trainer facility, cafeteria, gymnasium, several portable buildings which serve as a temporary home for the Red Cross, a large building for their musical department, a swimming pool, tennis courts/basketball courts, and a marching band practice/soccer field/football field surrounded by a dirt track. A separate Judo room, and girls locker room was added in 2018. In the 2000 U.S. Census the U.S. Census Bureau defined Kalani High as being in the urban Honolulu census-designated place. For the 2010 U.S. Census the bureau created a new census-designated place, East Honolulu.

Kāhala, is a neighborhood in Honolulu, Hawaii. Kahala contains a large concentration of luxury real estate and beachfront properties. It consists of approximately 1,200 homes.Kahala is also home to the Kahala Hotel & Resort, formerly known as the Kahala Mandarin Oriental, and prior to the Kahala Hilton. Also located along the borders are Kahala Mall, and Diamond Head crater. It is the namesake of Kahala aloha shirts. Kahala is a flat area of Honolulu, within a 5 – 15 minutes drive of Waikiki and downtown.

Honolulu Waldorf School, established in 1961, is a coeducational, independent school serving more than 300 children from early childhood through middle school located on the island of Oahu in the State of Hawaii. It previously included high school levels.

The Kaimuki-McKinley-Roosevelt Complex Area is one of nine Hawaii Department of Education complex areas on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, USA. It is part of the Honolulu District and operates two community schools, three high schools, five middle schools, nineteen elementary schools, five public charter schools, and two special schools.

Waiʻalae (Hawaiian pronunciation: [wɐjʔəˈlɐe]) is a neighborhood of Honolulu on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi, United States. The Waiʻalae means "mudhen water". The Waiʻalae Country Club is here and Waiʻalae Iki and Waiʻalae Nui, which are above Waiʻalae along the ridge, are located here, also. It is also home to Chaminade University of Honolulu. Val Ossipoff designed many organic homes and buildings in Waiʻalae Nui.

ʻĀina Haina is an unincorporated town of the City & County of Honolulu in the state of Hawaiʻi of the United States. Located on the island of Oʻahu, ʻĀina Haina is a residential community developed around Kalanianaole Highway east of Waikīkī and Diamond Head. ʻĀina Haina was named after local dairyman and owner of Hind-Clarke Dairy, Robert Hind. ʻĀina Haina in the Hawaiian language means "Hind's Land". A main street is a loop named Hind Drive for him. ʻĀina Haina has two elementary schools (Aina Haina Elementary School and Holy Nativity School) and a shopping center.In the 2000 U.S. Census the U.S. Census Bureau defined the area as being in the urban Honolulu census-designated place. For the 2010 U.S. Census the bureau created a new census-designated place, East Honolulu.

Hawaii Film Studio, owned by the State of Hawaii's Film Office, is the first film and television studio in Hawaii and is the first state-owned film and television studio in the United States.

The Honolulu Military Academy was founded by its president, Col. L. G. Blackman, in 1911. It was controlled by a board of 10 trustees of which the president was a member and presiding officer ex officio. It had no endowment, but owned a fine piece of property consisting of about 100 acres (0.40 km2) of ground and six buildings, and was valued at $200,000. It was located at Kaimuki near Wai'alae Bay, a mile from the end of the Waialae street-car line. The buildings stood on high ground overlooking the ocean. The school drew its cadets from all points in the islands. The 1918-19 roster showed 64 from Honolulu, 10 from Oahu outside of Honolulu, 16 from Hawaii, 11 from Maui, 10 from Kauai, 1 from Molokai, 2 from California, and 1 each from New York State, Minnesota, and Japan. The military regime was a dominant feature of the school's organization, as the name of the Academy indicates. It began by providing only elementary grade instruction, and later grew to offer a 12-grade program of studies. The school was split into three divisions: an elementary school, grades 1–6; a junior academy, grades 7, 8, 9; and a senior academy, grades 10, 11, 12.

The Lemon Wond Holt House at 3704 Anuhea Street in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, belonged to Lemon Wond Holt, nicknamed “Rusty” (22 September 1904 – 12 March 1999), one of the last surviving local-born members of the “Stonewall Gang” who frequented Waikiki Beach during the early 1900s.Architecturally, the house is significant as one of the first examples of a "modestly detailed, fantasy picturesque style residence" built in Hawaiʻi during the late 1920s and early 1930s. It is entirely typical for that period—in its materials, methods, craftsmanship, and design—and is one of only a dozen or so such homes that still survive in Honolulu.

The Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design is housed in the former home of Doris Duke near Diamond Head just outside Honolulu, Hawaii. It is now owned and operated as a public museum of the arts and cultures of the Islamic world by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art (DDFIA). Guided tours depart from the Honolulu Museum of Art, which operates the tours in co-operation with DDFIA. Construction of Shangri La took place from 1936 to 1938, after Doris Duke's 1935 honeymoon which took her through the Islamic world. For nearly 60 years, Duke commissioned and collected artworks for the space, eventually forming a collection of over 4,000 objects. The structure was designed by Marion Sims Wyeth. An artistic reflection of the construction of Shangri La can be found in Kiana Davenport's novel Song of the Exile.The building was opened to the public as a museum, the Shangri La Museum for Islamic Art, Design & Culture, in 2002.
