Montale (San Marino)

The ninth congress of the Sammarinese Communist Party was held between December 10 and December 12, 1976, at Palazzo dei Congressi in the City of San Marino. The event was chaired by the party general secretary, Umberto Barulli. The congress was visited by delegations from the Soviet Union (Vadim Zagladin), Italy, the German Democratic Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Palestine, Yugoslavia and Chile.

The Cesta, also known as "Fratta" (Italian: Torre della Fratta) is one of three towered peaks overlooking the city of San Marino, the capital of San Marino. The other two are Guaita and Montale.

It encompasses Mount Titano and the other structures such as the fortification towers, walls, gates and bastions, as well as a neo-classical basilica located on it and its slopes forming a small but unique urban conglomerate.Straddled on the ridge of Mount Titano is the city of San Marino of the Republic of San Marino, the history of which dates from the early 4th century. According to the legend related to the Mount and its precincts, a small monastery existed on top of the Mount during the 8th century. The mountainous landscape provides excellent views of its surroundings, and its isolated location ensured the needed seclusion for San Marino to survive as a Republic over the past several centuries.Italian people often call the peak Monte Brugola, because of its shape apparently similar to a hex key, if observed from the Po Plain.The mountain has three peaks; on each is one of The Three Towers of San Marino. Saint Marinus is always represented with Mount Titano in his hands.

Statua della Libertà (Italian pronunciation: [ˈstaːtwa della liberˈta; ˈstaːtu.a]) is a statue in Piazza della Libertà, City of San Marino, the capital city of the Republic of San Marino. Translated this means "Statue of Liberty", not to be confused with the statue in New York City, United States. The Statua della Libertà, made in the neoclassical style of white Carrara marble and is located between Parva Domus and the Palazzo Pubblico. It is a work of the sculptor Stefano Galletti and was donated by Countess Otilia Heyroth Wagener from Berlin to the Republic in 1876, because she had become Countess of Acquaviva. The statue symbolizes freedom. Freedom is represented as a warrior advancing fiercely with one hand extended forward and one with a flag. On the head of the statue is a crown with three towers representing the fortified city of San Marino, the symbolic meaning is the reinstatement of freedom. The Statua della Libertà is depicted on the Sammarinese 2 cent euro coins.
