Kesler Peak is a 10,403-foot elevation (3,171 m) mountain summit located in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States.

The Stairs Station Hydroelectric Power Plant was built in 1894-1895 in Big Cottonwood Canyon, about 8 miles (13 km) southeast of Salt Lake City, Utah. The plant comprises the powerhouse, switchyard, penstocks, and a pipeline. A dam next to the site is associated with the Granite Power Plant farther downstream, and is part of neither historic district. The powerhouse is the only remaining building associated with the plant. It is an example of an intact high-head generating plant from the late 19th century.

Doughnut Falls is a waterfall in the Big Cottonwood Canyon near Silver Fork, south of Midvale in Salt Lake County, Utah. Access to Chocolate Falls is from the Mill D Trailhead towards the Jordan Pines picnic area. The waterfall plunges into a pothole that has access under the arch of rock with a view up at the falls falling into the pool.

Twin Peaks Wilderness is a 11,396 acres (46.12 km2) wilderness area in the Wasatch Range of Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. The Mount Olympus Wilderness is directly north of the Twin Peaks Wilderness and separated by Utah State Route 190. The Lone Peak Wilderness is directly to the south and separated by Utah State Route 210. Elevations in the wilderness range from under 5,000 feet (1,500 m) to 11,330 feet (3,450 m) on Twin Peaks.

Dog Lake is a lake in Salt Lake County, Utah located between Millcreek Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon. The lake can be accessed by hiking trails from either canyon.

Mount Olympus in the U.S. state of Utah is one of the most prominent and recognizable mountains viewable from practically every location in the Salt Lake Valley. Mount Olympus is not the tallest peak along the Wasatch Front, but its unusual form and location make it a popular hiking destination for locals. The mountain is situated immediately east of the center of the Salt Lake Valley (due east from Murray and Taylorsville). Distinctive features of the mountain are its twin peaks and other outcroppings, the highest of which is called "Summit Peak" and which towers above the valley to an elevation of 9,030 feet (2,752 m). Thus, the peak looms about 4,800 feet (1,463 m) above the valley floor.

Mount Superior (also known as Superior Peak) is an 11,045 feet (3,367 m) mountain peak in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. With prominent visibility from Utah State Route 210 in Little Cottonwood Canyon, and being only 35 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, it is a popular hiking, climbing, and skiing destination.

Neffs Cave (or Neffs Canyon Cave) is a cave in Neffs Canyon on the north side of Mount Olympus, Utah, in the United States. It is one of the deepest caves in the United States but is seldom entered despite its depth and its proximity to Salt Lake City. The United States Forest Service has closed the cave to the public for many years due to safety hazards. In 1977, Neffs Canyon Cave was designated as a National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service.

Grandeur Peak is an 8,299-foot-elevation (2,530-meter) mountain summit located in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States.

Big Cottonwood Canyon is a canyon in the Wasatch Range 12 miles (19 km) southeast of Salt Lake City in the U.S. state of Utah. The 15-mile (24 km)-long canyon provides hiking, biking, picnicking, rock-climbing, camping, and fishing in the summer. Its two ski resorts, Brighton and Solitude, are popular among skiers and snowboarders. The canyon is accessed by The Big Cottonwood Canyon Scenic Byway (SR-190), which runs its length to Guardsman Pass at the top of the canyon, allowing travel to Park City in the summer months. Guardsman Pass is closed during the winter months and is a popular snowshoe hiking destination for many Utahns. Hiking to the canyon's mountain lakes is popular, with many trails leading to lakes such as Mary, Martha, and Katherine. The canyon's most popular hiking trail leads to Lakes Blanche, Florence and Lillian. The trail is 3.1 miles (5.0 km) long and a strenuous hike. Since the canyon was formed by Big Cottonwood Creek, the V-shaped canyon has many impressive rock forms. The canyon is also a frequent destination for Utah Native Plant Society wildflower walks and for University of Utah botanical field trips. The canyon and the adjoining Little Cottonwood Canyon contain significant biodiversity and are home to a number of rare and endemic plant species. One example is the Wasatch shooting star, Dodecatheon dentatum var. utahense which is only known from Big Cottonwood Canyon. Big Cottonwood Canyon is a watershed canyon that supplies drinking water to the Wasatch Front, therefore, pets and other domesticated animals are not allowed. In November 2011, a proposal to construct a gondola linking Solitude Ski Resort through Big Cottonwood Canyon to the Canyons Resort in Summit County drew criticism over concerns about its potential effect on sensitive terrain and watershed impacts.Parts of two little known slasher films, Berserker (1987) and Iced (1988), were shot in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Parts of How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) were filmed at Solitude Mountain Resort, in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Little Cottonwood Canyon lies within the Wasatch-Cache National Forest along the eastern side of the Salt Lake Valley, roughly 15 miles from Salt Lake City, Utah. The canyon is part of Granite, a CDP and "Community Council" designated by Salt Lake County. The canyon is a glacial trough (U-shaped canyon), carved by an alpine glacier during the last ice age, 15,000 to 25,000 years ago. A number of rare and endemic plant species are found in the canyon's Albion Basin. Introduced Mountain goats inhabit the surrounding mountains.The Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was built of blocks of quartz monzonite, granite, and granodiorite which Latter Day Saint pioneers quarried from the Little Cottonwood Stock near the mouth of the canyon.State Route 210 is the primary access road to the canyon, running from the canyon mouth up to Alta. Little Cottonwood Creek runs down the length of the canyon, beginning at Cecret Lake at Alta and flowing westward.
