Point Fermin Light

The Korean Bell of Friendship (more commonly called Korean Friendship Bell) is a massive bronze bell housed in a stone pavilion in Angel's Gate Park, in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Located at the corner of Gaffey and 37th Streets, the section of the park is alternatively called the "Korean–American Peace Park" and occupies part of the former Upper Reservation of Fort MacArthur.

The Sunken City is the site of a natural landslide which occurred in the Point Fermin area of the San Pedro neighbourhood of Los Angeles, starting in 1929. A slump caused several beachside homes to slide into the ocean. The development of cliffside homes and exclusive bungalows was established in the 1920s by George H. Peck to attract people who wanted to live with a view of the Pacific Ocean. Experts investigating the landslide said that the ground was shifting at a rate of 11 inches (280 mm) per day. The landslide occurred at the southern tip of San Pedro, sending nearly 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2) into the Pacific Ocean. The area is still visited by sightseers.

The Red Men Hall, listed as the Redmen's Hall, is a historic structure that houses a fraternal organization near the coast in the San Pedro community of Los Angeles, California.

Fort MacArthur is a former United States Army installation in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California (now the port community of Los Angeles). A small section remains in military use by the United States Air Force as a housing and administrative annex of Los Angeles Air Force Base. The fort is named after Lieutenant General Arthur MacArthur. His son, Douglas MacArthur, would later command American forces in the Pacific during World War II.

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is an aquarium in Los Angeles at San Pedro, California. The aquarium interprets both the physical processes of oceanography and marine biology of Southern California by use of displays and educational programs for the public. The aquarium is operated by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks.The original building was a small structure that welcomed visitors until there was a move to a much larger structure designed by Frank Gehry in 1981. The 2004 expansion was designed by Barton Phelps & Associates.

The Aerospace Defense Center (ADC) was a unit of the United States Air Force. It was under the command of the general that also commanded both North American Aerospace Defense Command and Aerospace Defense Command (ADCOM). The center included the Office of Astrodynamics (ADC/DO6) and the Office of History.

Cabrillo Beach is a historic public beach located in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California. It is named after Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, a Portuguese explorer who was the first to sail up the California coast. Cabrillo has two separate beach areas.

American Trona Corporation Building is an industrial building on Pacific Avenue between 28th and 30th Streets in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It was built from 1916-1917 by the American Trona Corporation of California, to process and store salt potash from the company's mining facilities at Searles Lake in the Mojave Desert, near Trona in eastern San Bernardino County, California. It is now on the grounds of the Fort MacArthur housing annex of the Los Angeles Air Force Base.

Casa de San Pedro was a hide house and one of the oldest commercial structure on the San Pedro Bay. Its site was designated a California Historic Landmark, No. 235, on June 6, 1978. The site is now near Meyler St. and Quartermaster Road in San Pedro.McCulloch and Hartnell built the structure to store cattle hides purchased from the Mission San Gabriel Arcángel and San Fernando mission. In 1829 the Casa was sold to Mission San Gabriel. In 1834 the Casa was sold to Abel Stearns. Stearns established a stagecoach route connecting San Pedro Bay with the Pueblo de Los Ángeles. Casa de San Pedro is described as an adobe hide house in the book Two Years Before the Mast by Richard Henry Dana published in 1840. Casa de San Pedro was part of the beginning of the Port of Los Angeles. In 1846 the Mexican governor of Alta California, Pío Pico, directed that a 500-vara-square of land (43 acres) facing onto San Pedro Bay be set aside as a government reservation. In 1904 surveyor H.H. Burton inspected Casa de San Pedro for the San Pedro Government Reservation. Burton reported that the Casa was a "ruins of adobe buildings". A legal dispute over this land, being enclosed by what would become Fort MacArthur, ended in 1922. A plaque marking the site of Casa de San Pedro is near the Chaldean's play yard on Quartermaster Road. The plaque reads: The first known commercial structure on the shore of San Pedro Bay was built here in 1823 by the trading firm of McCulloch & Hartnell to store cattle hides from the San Gabriel and San Fernando Missions. Richard Henry Dana described this adobe hide house in Two Years Before The Mast. Thus began the development of the Port of Los Angeles.

Old St. Peter's Episcopal Church is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument located in the San Pedro section of Los Angeles, California, near the Port of Los Angeles. Built in 1883 in the Carpenter Gothic Victorian architecture style, it is San Pedro's oldest church.

San Pedro Boatworks also called the San Pedro Boat and Yacht Company was a boatyard in San Pedro, California the entrance to the West Channel of Los Angeles Harbor, at berth 44 and next to fire station 110. The boatyard opened in 1923 and closed in 2002, the site has been abandoned since then. The address is 210 Whalers Walk, San Pedro, with the office at 2945 Miner Street. L.A Harbor Marine operated the site from 1965 to 1969. Pacific American also operated the boatyard for many years, owned by San Pedro Boatworks. In 1974 the operation was taken over by Martin Vincent. Later Billfish Inc. took over operations. In 1993, BCI Coca-Cola took over operations. Over the years the yard continued to build and repair boats including military boats, purse seiners, yachts, fireboats, and lifeboats.Port of Los Angeles is looking to reopen the site as the L.A. Shipyard to serve the local boats. The project is part of the Berth 44 Boatyard Development project. The new yard would work on boats from 40 to 150 feet and maybe larger. The proposed site would be 3 acres of land and one acre of water, located between Berth 46 and the Cabrillo Way Marina. Currently Al Larson Boat Shop is the only operating boatyard in LA.

SS Sansinena was a Liberian oil tanker that exploded in Los Angeles harbor on Friday, 17 December 1976 at 7:33pm. She was docked at berth 46 at Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, California. The vessel was a steamship built in 1958. At its final port of call, Sansinena had discharged its cargo of crude oil and was taking on ballast and fuel when a massive explosion split the ship in half and obliterated multiple port buildings. The blast shattered windows for miles around, flung the entire midship bridge on the wharf, and triggered a fire that spread across the dock and around the tanker. The Los Angeles Fire Department soon arrived on the scene to contain the blaze and rescue survivors. One of the fires, fed by underground fuel lines, burned for four days. A United States Coast Guard investigation later concluded that the incident was caused by flammable hydrocarbon vapor buildup on the deck of the ship caused by a poorly designed and deteriorating venting system as well as an unsafe practice (leaving all vents open during ballasting). The ignition source was never identified. The official casualty count was: 9 dead (eight crew and one dock security guard). 46 injured, 9 requiring hospitalization.The explosion of Sansinena and technical details of the incident were featured as the first segment of the Engineering Disasters in an episode of History Channel's Modern Marvels television series.
