Southgate station (Edmonton)

Southgate Centre is a shopping centre located in south Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, covering just under 90,000 square metres. It contains 165 retailers including The Bay, Aritzia, Zara, Michael Kors, Browns Shoes and Edmonton's only Restoration Hardware and Crate & Barrel. Apple opened a second store in Edmonton at Southgate Centre on May 28, 2010, and Edmonton's first Lego store opened in June 2013. The centre is located adjacent to Whitemud Drive and 111 Street, and is located across from a transit bus station and the Southgate LRT Station. Following major expansion, the mall marked its reopening in August 2009, including a new food court and added parking. These expansions included 40 new stores under a new two-level parking deck and a station on the expansion of the Edmonton Light Rail Transit system, whose opening ceremony was on April 24, 2010. An Edmonton Public Library branch operated until 2002, when it relocated to nearby Whitemud Crossing. The mall is owned by Ivanhoé Cambridge, a subsidiary of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. The mall is currently undergoing a $93 million expansion which will see the former Sears space repurposed as a new mall common area with three floors, with anticipated completion in 2022.

Harry Ainlay High School is a high school located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in the Royal Gardens neighbourhood, south of Whitemud Drive on 111 Street. The school is operated by the Edmonton Public School System, and has a wide variety of educational opportunities for students, including: full French Immersion instruction, the International Baccalaureate Program (designated an IB school since June 1, 1980, current IB coordinator: Dean Zuberbühler), Career and Technology Studies, and Registered Apprenticeship programs. The school has an enrollment of 2,889 students, making it the largest high school by student population in Alberta as of September 2019. Since opening in 1966, over 40,000 students have graduated from Harry Ainlay. The school sports teams are the Titans. The school is named after former Edmonton mayor Harry Dean Ainlay.

Louis St. Laurent Catholic School is a fine arts oriented Junior and Senior High School in the Edmonton Catholic School District, located in south western Edmonton. It is also known as "Louis" or "LSL" by the population. The school averages a student body of approximately 1,000 or more pupils each year, spanning grades 7–12. As of 2009, the entire school participates in the International Baccalaureate programme. As of 2016, a few students participate in the Spanish Bilingual program.

Rideau Park School is a public primary school in southwest Edmonton, Alberta. It is a part of Edmonton Public Schools and serves grades Kindergarten through 6. It has a German-English bilingual program. As of 2017 it has 248 students.

L.Y. Cairns School is a Grade 7 to Grade 12 school in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, specializing towards special needs students with moderate to severe deficits. The school, built starting in 1968 and opened in 1969, is named after Supreme Court of Alberta judge and University of Alberta Chancellor Laurence Yeomans Cairns. In the 2018–2019 school year the school had 429 students enrolled.Since the year the school opened, it has maintained an annual tradition of the school staff – including members of the Edmonton Police Service School Resource Officer Unit (since its own founding) – serving a Christmas lunch to the students.

The Alberta School for the Deaf is a provincial school in Edmonton, Alberta with elementary and secondary residential and day programs serving deaf and hard-of-hearing students.Teachers are both deaf and hearing. Alberta School for the Deaf is modeled on a bilingual-bicultural approach. The total enrollment, including the elementary school, is 100 as of 2020–21. Students from across Alberta and the Northwest Territories attend the school.Deaf students from Canada often attend Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. for post-secondary programs.

It features a curling rink, tennis courts and a gymnasium. Opened in 2003, the centre currently serves as the national training centre for curling in Canada. Its curling facilities include ten sheets, and is home to a membership of nearly 2000 curlers, making it the curling club with the largest membership list in the world.The club is home to many of the top curling teams in the world, including Olympic gold medallist Kevin Martin, Brier champion Kevin Koe, Randy Ferbey, Ted Appelman, Chris Schille, Cathy King, Heather Nedohin and Val Sweeting. A West Wing, added in 2011, is Canada's largest hardwood installation, and the home of the University of Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas basketball and volleyball teams.Saville hosted the 2015 FIBA Americas Women's Championship. The centre is also home to eight indoor tennis courts and nine outdoor courts, a fitness centre, a 9000 sq. ft. gym, and "Kevin's Rocks-N-Racquets" Pro Shop, run by Kevin Martin himself. The Saville Community Sports Centre was named for Bruce Saville, a businessman and philanthropist in Edmonton.

Foote Field is a multi-purpose sports facility on the University of Alberta campus in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, built as a legacy facility for the 2001 World Championships in Athletics. It was named for University of Alberta alumnus, former varsity track athlete, and philanthropist Eldon Foote, who donated $2 million toward the construction costs.
