The New Market, formerly known as Sir Stuart Hogg Market, is a market in Kolkata situated on Lindsay Street, beside Free School Street (Mirza Ghalib Street/Rani Rasmoni Road). Although primarily "New Market" referred to the original enclosed market, today in local parlance, the entire shopping area is often known as "New Market".

Dharmatala (archaic spelling Dhurrumtollah) is a neighbourhood of Central Kolkata, in Kolkata district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Dharmatala Street has been renamed after Lenin as Lenin Sarani but the neighbourhood up to Wellington Square continues to be referred as Dharmatala. Chaplin Cinema was the oldest single screen movie theatre in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It was located in 5/1 Chowringhee Place. In 1907 Jamshedji Framji Madan opened this cinema in India.

The Elite was a single-screen theater, situated in S.N. Banerjee Road, Kolkata. It had started operation on August 2, 1940. It was once owned by 20th Century Fox and photographic studio Bourne & Shepherd and had its share of silver screen legends like Raj Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan to name a few. The 78-year old auditorium in central Kolkata ended its journey on 1 June, 2018.

Janbazar is a neighbourhood of Central Kolkata, in Kolkata district in the Indian state of West Bengal. The two century-old house of Rani Rashmoni, the central attraction in Janbazar, is still used by descendants in the family.

The Indian Museum in Central Kolkata, West Bengal, India, also referred to as the Imperial Museum of Calcutta in colonial-era texts, is the ninth oldest museum in the world, the oldest and largest museum in India as well as in Asia. It has rare collections of antiques, armour and ornaments, fossils, skeletons, mummies and Mughal paintings. It was founded by the Asiatic Society of Bengal in Kolkata (Calcutta), India, in 1814. The founder curator was Nathaniel Wallich, a Danish botanist. It has six sections comprising thirty five galleries of cultural and scientific artifacts namely Indian art, archaeology, anthropology, geology, zoology and economic botany. Many rare and unique specimens, both Indian and trans-Indian, relating to humanities and natural sciences, are preserved and displayed in the galleries of these sections. In particular the art and archaeology sections hold collections of international importance. It is an autonomous organization under Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The present Director of the Indian Museum is Shri Arijit Dutta Choudhury who is also the Director General, NCSM and having the additional charge of Director General of National Library.Administrative control of the Cultural sections, viz. Art, Archaeology and Anthropology rests with the Board of Trustees under its Directorate, and that of the three other science sections is with the geological survey of India, the zoological survey of India and the Botanical survey of India. The museum Directorate has eight co-ordinating service units: Education, preservation, publication, presentation, photography, medical, modelling and library. This multipurpose institution with multidisciplinary activities is being included as an Institute of national importance in the seventh schedule of the Constitution of India.

Globe Cinema was a single screen cinema hall and heritage building located in Lindsay Street (opposite New Market entrance), Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The theatre was previously known as Old Opera House. The wooden opera house was established in 1827 and sold to E M Cohen in 1906. Cohen converted it into a movie theatre and named it Globe Cinema. The theatre was owned by Sidhwa family and Jal Tata. Dhansri Abasan Pvt Ltd partnered with Goldstar Enclave Pvt Ltd and acquired the Globe Theatre Pvt Ltd from them.The gigantic single-screen theatre has made way for a mini-mall with a twin-theatre multiplex, over 100 retail stores and a food court.

Jyoti Cinema is one of the most popular and oldest single-screen movie theatres of Kolkata, West Bengal. The hall is located in Lenin Sarani.

The West Bengal State Council of Technical Education (WBSCTE) is the statutory body and a state-level council for technical education, under Department of Technical Education & Training (West Bengal), Ministry of Technical Education& training. Apart from the 86 Polytechnics in the state of West Bengal, India, Polytechnic Institute at Narsingarh in the state of Tripura, India is also affiliated to the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education. The Council has also been entrusted with the responsibilities for conduct of Short Term Vocational Training Programme in different centres and affiliate institutes offering Vocational Courses under the supervision of West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training. The Polytechnics offers 3 year Diploma courses in Engineering/Technology (Pharmacy - 2 year and Marine Engineering - 4 year) along with 1½ year Post Diploma Courses and 4 year Part-time Evening Diploma Courses. Admission to all Polytechnics is conducted through the Joint Entrance Exam.
