The Happy Land fire was an act of arson that killed 87 people on March 25, 1990. The 87 victims were trapped in the unlicensed Happy Land social club, located at 1959 Southern Boulevard in the West Farms section of the Bronx in New York City, United States. Most of the victims were young Hondurans celebrating Easter, many of them part of the Garifuna American community. Cuban refugee Julio González, whose former girlfriend was employed at the club, was arrested soon afterward and ultimately convicted of arson and murder. The fire was the deadliest in New York City since the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, which coincidentally occurred on the same day in 1911, and the deadliest in American territory since the Dupont Plaza Hotel fire in Puerto Rico in 1986.

Tremont Avenue is a street in the Bronx, New York City. Its west end is at Sedgwick Avenue in Morris Heights, and its east end is at Schurz Avenue in Throggs Neck, running almost the entire width of the Bronx. Around 2009, part of East Tremont Avenue renamed to Hector Lavoe Avenue, in honor of the late salsa musician.

Westchester Avenue is a major east-west street in the South and East portions of the Bronx, New York City. It runs from Third Avenue and 150th Street in the Hub to Pelham Bay Park in the Pelham Bay section. It crosses many neighborhoods of the Bronx, which include Melrose, Longwood, Soundview, Parkchester, and Pelham Bay. Westchester Avenue parallels the Bruckner Expressway until their junction at Pelham Bay Park. The Bx4/Bx4A buses use Westchester Avenue between Bergen Avenue and Parkchester (Bx4A) or Westchester Square (Bx4) while the Bx24 uses Westchester Avenue north of Westchester Square. The Bx8 and Bx27 use the road for short segments.

Southern Boulevard is a street in the Bronx, New York City, United States. It stretches from Bruckner Boulevard in Mott Haven to Mosholu Parkway in Bedford Park. From 1981 until 2011, the portion north of Fordham Road, adjacent to the New York Botanical Garden, was also named Dr. Theodore L. Kazimiroff Boulevard. In 2011, the name of Kazimiroff, a Bronx historian and a founder of The Bronx County Historical Society, was changed to an honorary designation for this portion of Southern Boulevard after the New York City Department of Transportation, having been lobbied by Fordham University, decided that the designation was little known and confusing to those unfamiliar with the area.The 2 and ​5 trains run directly above Southern Boulevard from Simpson Street to 174th Street. The 6 and <6>​ trains also run under Southern Boulevard from East 143rd Street to Hunts Point Avenue. The Bx9 and Bx19 also serve Southern Boulevard, with the Bx19 serving Southern Boulevard between East 149th Street and New York Botanical Garden and the Bx9 serving Southern Boulevard between East 180th Street and Fordham Road. The Bx5 and Bx26 serve short portions of the street.

The West Farms Soldiers Cemetery, at 2103 Bryant Avenue and 180th Street in the West Farms section of the Bronx in New York City, is the oldest public veterans' burial ground in the borough. The cemetery contains the remains of 40 US veterans including 2 from the War of 1812, 35 from the Civil War, 2 from the Spanish-American War, and 2 from the First World War. The cemetery is a New York City landmark, designated by the Landmarks Preservation Commission on August 2, 1967.

Mario's is an Italian-American restaurant on Arthur Avenue in Belmont, Bronx. in 2000, the James Beard Foundation named it an America's Classic.

The 180th Street station was a local station on the demolished IRT Third Avenue Line in the Bronx, New York City. It was opened on July 1, 1901, and was one of three stations built when the line was extended to Fordham Plaza. It had three tracks and two side platforms. The next stop to the north was 183rd Street. The next stop to the south was Tremont Avenue–177th Street. The station closed on April 29, 1973.
