Puttgarden

Puttgarden station was a railway station at the major ferry terminal on the Vogelfluglinie (bird flight line) on the island of Fehmarn in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It lies between the town of Puttgarden and Marienleuchte. All rail traffic was discontinued on 31 August 2022. Until 2019, it primarily served the needs of international long distance traffic between Hamburg and Copenhagen, and in 2020-2022 regional traffic to Lübeck. Rail traffic is expected to restart in 2029, but not have stops for passengers in Puttgarden.

Fehmarn-Burg station (German: Bahnhof Fehmarn-Burg) is a railway station in the municipality of Burg auf Fehmarn, located in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Beginning August 31, 2022, all rail traffic between Neustadt and Puttgarden, including at Fehmarn-Burg station, is suspended due to construction work on the double-track railway line connecting to the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link. The traffic is replaced by a bus service. It is expected that regional trains will go to Fehmarn-Burg again when the railway is rebuilt and in traffic again, around 2029, then as end point of the line.

St. Nicholas Church (St. Nikolai Kirche) is a church in the city of Burg on the German Baltic island of Fehmarn.

Fehmarn (German: [ˈfeːma⁠ʁn] ; Danish: Femern; from Old Wagrian Slavic "Fe More", meaning "In the Sea") is an island in the Baltic Sea, off the eastern coast of Germany's northernmost state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is Germany's third-largest island, after Rügen and Usedom. Fehmarn is separated from the German peninsula of Wagria in Holstein by the Fehmarn Sound, and from the southern Danish island of Lolland by the Fehmarn Belt. It is connected to the Holsatian mainland by the Fehmarn Sound Bridge. The island belongs to the district of Ostholstein (East Holstein). The closest larger towns on the mainland are Heiligenhafen (Saints’ Harbor) and Oldenburg in Holstein (founded as Starigard). Right opposite Fehmarn, on the tip of the Wagrian Peninsula, is Großenbrode. The Vogelfluglinie (Danish: Fugleflugtslinjen), an important transport corridor connecting the Danish capital of Copenhagen on the island of Zealand to the second-largest German city of Hamburg via Lübeck, runs across the island. There are currently two tunnels under construction in the region: the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel between Puttgarden on Fehmarn and Rødbyhavn on Lolland, and the Fehmarn Sound Tunnel between Strukkamp (Fehmarn) and Großenbrode (Wagria). The most notable settlements on Fehmarn are Burg auf Fehmarn (Low German: Borg op Fehmarn) and Puttgarden, with the island's ferry port. Fehmarn is allegorically represented by the "Goldene Krone im blauen Meer" (Golden Crown in the blue Sea), which can be seen on many flags on the island, making reference to the House of Oldenburg, the Danish royal house.

Vadersdorf is a village on the island of Fehmarn in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is located in the district of East Holstein. The village occupies an area of 7.2 km². In 2003, the population of the village was approximately 130.

Glambæk (German: Burg Glambek) was a castle in Femern (German: Fehmarn) on the north-east coast of Schleswig-Holstein in what is now Germany. Glambæk was built in the 13th century by Valdemar Sejr and protected the land between Baltic Sea and Burger Binnensee. The island was captured at the beginning of the 15th century, but Erik of Pommern took it and the castle back again in 1416. During the Thirty Years' War, it was captured and destroyed in 1627 by Johann Tserclaes, Count of Tilly.

The Fehmarn Sound Tunnel is a planned tunnel between the German mainland and the Island of Fehmarn. It was projected to be built by 2028 to supplement and to relieve the Fehmarn Sound Bridge. It should cost €718 million. The tunnel will be near Großenbrode.

The Fehmarn Sound Bridge (German: Fehmarnsundbrücke) connects the German island of Fehmarn in the Baltic Sea with the German mainland near Großenbrode.

Großenbrode is a municipality in the district of Ostholstein, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the Baltic Sea coast, opposite Fehmarn, approx. 8 km (5 mi) east of Heiligenhafen. Until 1963 it had a ferry connection to Gedser in Denmark. After World War II there was no ferry connection between West Germany and Denmark - the ferry port Warnemünde (near Rostock) now being in the communist east. Großenbrode was chosen as the site for a temporary ferry connection for the 3-hour crossing to Gedser. After the Fehmarnsund bridge was built in 1963, the ferryport moved to Puttgarden on Fehmarn. Großenbrode is planned to be the site of a portal of the Fehmarn Sound Tunnel by 2028.

The Wallnau Waterbird Reserve (German: Wasservogelreservat Wallnau) is one of the most important reserves for migratory birds in Germany and the largest of NABU's nature conservation centres. The former pond estate of Wallnau lies on the west coast of the Baltic island of Fehmarn and covers, in its core zone, an area of just under 300 hectares (740 acres), of ponds, reed beds and meadows as well as part of the Baltic Sea and its fringing beaches. The nature conservation centre houses an exhibition on bird migration, a small restaurant and seminar rooms. Paid and volunteer workers look after conservation-related work and public relations. The centre is certified as the provider of education for sustainable development.

Rødbyhavn (Danish pronunciation: [ʁœðpyˈhɑwˀn]) is a small town and harbour on the south coast of Lolland, Denmark, with a population of 1,549 (1 January 2023). Since 2007 it has been a part of Lolland Municipality. Rødbyhavn ("Rødby Harbour") is located approximately five kilometres (3.1 mi) southwest of the town of Rødby. It is a harbour on the northern shore of the Fehmarn Belt. A ferry service connects Rødbyhavn with Puttgarden on the island of Fehmarn. Thus one can drive or take the train from Copenhagen over the Fehmarn Belt, and on to Lübeck and Hamburg by European route E47, which in Germany is known as autobahn A1 or Vogelfluglinie. The original Lalandia holiday resort is located just west of Rødbyhavn on the shore of Fehmarn Belt.

Rødby is a town, with a population of 1,936 (1 January 2023), located on the island of Lolland in Denmark. It was the seat of the former Rødby Municipality (Danish, kommune).
