Tonkin

Tonkin (chữ Nôm: 東京), or Bắc Kỳ (北圻), was a French protectorate encompassing modern Northern Vietnam. Like the French protectorate of Annam, Tonkin was still nominally ruled by the Nguyễn dynasty, but in 1886, the French separated Tonkin from the Nguyễn imperial court in Huế by establishing the office of "Viceroy" (經略衙, Kinh lược nha). However, on 26 July 1897, the position of Viceroy was abolished, officially making the French resident-superior of Tonkin both the representative of the French colonial administration and the Nguyễn dynasty court in Huế, giving him the power to appoint local mandarins. In 1887, Tonkin became a part of the Union of Indochina. In 1945, the emperor Bảo Đại rescinded the Patenôtre Treaty, ending the French protectorates over Annam and Tonkin, creating the Empire of Vietnam, a Japanese puppet state. Following the surrender of Japan, ending World War II, the Việt Minh launched the August Revolution which led to the abolition of the Nguyễn dynasty and the Proclamation of Independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Tonkin was briefly occupied by the Chinese National Army before being returned to France. After eliminating virtually all nationalist oppositions, the communist-led Việt Minh clashed with the French over control of the territory. In 1948, Tonkin and Annam were officially merged under the Provisional Central Government of Vietnam. The French legally maintained the protectorate until they formally signed over sovereignty to the Bảo Đại and the State of Vietnam in 1950 after signing the Élysée Accords in 1949.

VinUni (formally VinUniversity) (Vietnamese: Trường Đại học VinUni) is a private and nonprofit university located in Hanoi, Vietnam. VinUni was established by the private corporate Vingroup following the approval by the Prime Minister of Vietnam in March 2018. According to VinUni, its inaugural class of the academic year 2020-2021 will consist of about 300 students, whereas its full capacity would be at around 3500 students.

Vietnam National University of Agriculture (or VNUA) (Vietnamese: Học viện Nông nghiệp Việt Nam), until 2014 Hanoi University of Agriculture (HUA), is an education and research university specializing in the agricultural sector. The university is located in Trau Quy town, Gia Lam district, a Hanoi suburban area, about 12 km far from Hanoi city centre.

Gia Lâm is the easternmost urban district (quận) of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. Prior to 2003, the district covered the entire area of Long Biên district, which included Long Biên Bridge, Gia Lâm Airport, Gia Lâm railway station, Gia Lâm bus station and the headquarters of Vietnam Airlines. On 22 September 2023, the Hanoi People Committee approved Gia Lam to become the next urban district of Hanoi.

Ecopark is an urban township development on the outskirts of Hanoi, in Hung Yen Province, Vietnam. The township spans 500 hectares with an estimated investment capital of over US$8.2 billion. The entire development, divided into nine construction phases, was expected to complete in an 18-year period.

Bát Tràng (literally: bát is bowl and tràng is workshop) is an old, well established village in the Gia Lâm district of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. It is about 13 km from central Hanoi. Bát Tràng is known throughout Vietnam for producing a unique style of ceramics called Bát Tràng Porcelain. The first museum in Bát Tràng is the private Bát Tràng Museum / Museum of Ceramic Art by Vũ Thắng

Văn Giang is a township (thị trấn) and capital of Văn Giang District, Hưng Yên Province, Vietnam.

The British International School Hanoi, commonly referred to as BIS Hanoi, is an international school in the Vinhomes Riverside neighbourhood of Hanoi, Vietnam. It is also a part of the Nord Anglia Education group and is one of four British International schools in Vietnam. The school provides a British-style education for children aged two to eighteen.

The Thanh Trì Bridge (Vietnamese: Cầu Thanh Trì) (completed 2008) is a bridge across the Red River in Hanoi, Vietnam. It was one of the Millennial Anniversary of Hanoi commemorative projects along with the Vĩnh Tuy Bridge. At 3,084m it is one of the longest bridges in Asia. It is part of the North-South expressway, and is the largest prestressed concrete bridge in Vietnam.

Lĩnh Nam is a ward (phường) of Hoàng Mai District in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The Lý Bát Đế Temple or Đô Temple (Vietnamese: Đền Lý Bát Đế [ʔɗen˨˩ li˧˦ ʔɓaːt̚˧˦ ʔɗe˧˦] or Đền Đô [ʔɗen˨˩ ʔɗo˧˧]), formal Buddhist name Cổ Pháp Điện, is a temple near Hanoi of which the central section was built in 1028 on the death of Lý Thái Tổ (李太祖), and the complex enlarged as seven of his descendant Lý dynasty emperors were also buried at the shrine – Lý Bát Đế means "Eight Lý Emperors." Traditionally, the shrine serves for ancestor worship of the eight emperors. It is located in Đình Bảng Commune, Từ Sơn District, in the Red River Delta province of Bắc Ninh. Another national monument, Đình Bảng communal house, is adjacent.

Long Biên is an urban district (quận) of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The district currently has 14 wards, covering a total area of 59.82 square kilometers. As of 2019, there were 322,549 people residing in the district, the population density is 5,400 inhabitants per square kilometer. Long Biên was incorporated as an urban district in 2003 from the northwestern portion of Gia Lâm district adjacent to the city center. The district is named for the formerly separate settlement of Long Biên (Chinese: Longbian), which served as the capital of Jiaozhou and Jiaozhi in imperial China and as the capital of Lý Bí's kingdom of Vạn Xuân. It is Hanoi's only urban district on the east side of the Red River. Main landmarks in the district include: Long Biên Bridge (eastern end) Gia Lâm Airport Gia Lâm station Gia Lâm Bus Station Headquarters of Vietnam Airlines the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), and VinGroup.Gia Lâm Airport, Gia Lâm Railway Station and Gia Lâm Bus Station were named after Gia Lâm district, which formerly covered Long Biên. Several other locations in the city that have the name "Long Biên" such as Long Biên Railway Station, Long Biên Bus Terminal and Long Biên Market, however, are located on the western end of the Long Biên bridge in Hoàn Kiếm and Ba Đình districts.
