Castleisland

Castleisland Desmonds are a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Castleisland, County Kerry, Ireland. The club won its first County Championship in 1950. They won others in 1981, 1982 and 1984. They won the Munster Club Championship and All-Ireland Club Championship in 1985.

Dooneen (Irish: An Dúinín) is a townland approximately two miles north of Castleisland, County Kerry on the N21 road to Limerick. Dooneen Wood and Castleisland golf course are situated in the area. Journalist Con Houlihan was born in Dooneen.Dooneen is also the name of Dooneen Point, also in County Kerry, and two townlands in County Clare.

Crag Cave is a cave in Ireland, located just outside Castleisland, County Kerry. Formed in elevated limestone rock, the system extends to 3.8 kilometres (2.4 mi) of surveyed passage, on two levels. It is the 7th-longest cave system in the Republic of Ireland, and the 10th-longest in the whole of Ireland.

Lackabaun (Irish: An Leaca Bhán, meaning 'the white hillside') is a townland 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Castleisland in the parish of Castleisland, County Kerry, in the southwest of Ireland. It covers 608 acres (2.46 km2; 0.95 sq mi) acres of hilly upland. There is a national school.

Currow (Irish: An Currach / Corra) is a rural village in County Kerry in south west Ireland, located approximately 12 km from Killarney and 18 km from Tralee. Currow is situated on the Brown Flesk River, a tributary of the River Maine.

Scartaglin is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Scartaglen, County Kerry, Ireland. Founded in 1964, the club fields teams in the East Kerry Division of the GAA county of Kerry. Players from the club also play in the Kerry Senior Football Championship with the divisional side St. Kierans.

Kerry Airport (Irish: Aerfort Chiarraí; IATA: KIR, ICAO: EIKY), often called Farranfore Airport, is an international airport in Farranfore, County Kerry, Ireland. It is 7 nautical miles (13 km; 8.1 mi) north of the Ring of Kerry and 8 nautical miles (15 km; 9.2 mi) southeast of the county's capital Tralee. Passenger services are operated by Ryanair and more recently French airline Chalair . In 2022, Kerry Airport handled 355,043 passengers; a decrease of 4% since 2019.

Scartaglen or Scartaglin (Irish: Scairteach an Ghlinne) is a village and townland in the Sliabh Luachra area of County Kerry, Ireland. It is located on the R577 regional road, close to the town of Castleisland. As of the 2011 census, the townland of Scartaglin had a population of 163 people.The local Roman Catholic church is dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes and was built between 1928 and 1930. Scartaglin National School is a co-educational primary (national) school which had over 120 pupils enrolled as of the 2020 school year. The local Gaelic Athletic Association club, Scartaglin GAA, fields teams in the East Kerry Division.

Cordal (Irish: Cordal) is a village and electoral division in County Kerry, Ireland. The townlands of Cordal East and Cordal West are in the civil parish of Ballincuslane and the historical barony of Trughanacmy. As of the 2011 census, Cordal East and Cordal West had populations of 115 and 117 residents respectively.

Maglass (Irish: Magh Glas) is a townland in the parish of Ballymacelligott, which is situated between two towns, Tralee and Castleisland, County Kerry, Ireland. Ballymacelligott is the biggest parish in Munster. Maglass is a farming area, with the nearest shop and post office is approximately 1 mile from Maglass in Ballydwyer. The nearest church is a further mile in Clogher, where there is also a National School.

Currans (Irish: Na Coirríní) is a small village in County Kerry, Ireland. It is 8.5 km southwest of Castleisland and 4.7 km west of the neighbouring village of Currow.

Edenburn House, formerly 'Magh House' or 'Rockfield', is a house and demesne in the parish of Ballymacelligott, County Kerry, in Ireland. Built in the late 18th century, it is situated between Tralee and Castleisland. Formerly the home of the Hussey family, from 1937 to 1968, the house was used as a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients. Later becoming known as Edenburn Hospital, from 1968 until its closure in 1988 the building was a convalescent home and hospital, catering mostly for orthopaedic patients and elderly patients.
