Pavlo Tutkovsky (Ukrainian: Павло Аполлонович Тутковський; 1 March 1858 – 3 June 1930) was a Ukrainian geologist, geographer, and professor. He is best known as a founding member of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and for establishing the Institute of Geological Sciences of the academy in 1926. Born in Lipovets into an Imperial Russian noble father and the Western European aristocratic family of Lippomano, he first entered in 1877 Kyiv University in their natural sciences department. After graduating in 1882, he worked at the university and was also elected a member of the Kyiv Society of Naturalists, for whom he would conduct geographical research for until 1902. Moving to Lutsk in 1900, he became an inspector of public schools for Lutsky Uyezd until moving to Zhytomyr to become director of public schools in the Volyn Province in 1909. In 1911 he defended his doctoral dissertation at Moscow University and was awarded the title of "Doctor of Geography". Afterward, he came back to Kyiv University to become a professor in the Department of Geography. In 1917 he created the Geographical Institute at Kyiv University, and in 1919, became a founding member of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. He was immediately elected chairman and also head of the Physics and Mathematics Department. From 1924 to 1926, he then headed the research Department of Goology, which in 1926 was reorganized into the Institute of Geological Sciences, and of which he became the director. In 1930 he died in Kyiv.

Hlevakha (Ukrainian: Глеваха) is an urban-type settlement in Fastiv Raion of Kyiv Oblast (region) of Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Hlevakha settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: 8,800 (2022 estimate). Until 18 July 2020, Hlevakha belonged to Vasylkiv Raion. The raion was abolished that day as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Kyiv Oblast to seven. The area of Vasylkiv Raion was split between Bila Tserkva, Fastiv, and Obukhiv Raions, with Hlevakha being transferred to Fastiv Raion.Hlevakha is situated 10,5 km. to the south of Kyiv. There are a lot of dachas in this settlement.

Kyiv-Sviatoshyn Raion (Ukrainian: Києво-Святошинський район, romanized: Kyievo-Sviatoshynskyi raion) was a raion (district) in Kyiv Oblast of Ukraine, adjacent to the city of Kyiv which served as the administrative center for the raion. The city of Kyiv itself did not belong to the raion. The raion was abolished on 18 July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Kyiv Oblast to seven. The area of Kyiv-Sviatoshyn Raion was split between Bucha, Fastiv, and Obukhiv Raions. The last estimate of the raion population was 210,123 (2020 est.). The raion was situated just to the west of the city of Kyiv, and should not be confused with the Sviatoshyn District of Kyiv city, which it bordered and where its administration was located. The raion's name related to the historical area and woodland of Sviatoshyn, which currently is located with the city limits of Kyiv.

Bilohorodka (Ukrainian: Білогородка) is a village in Bucha Raion, Kyiv Oblast of north Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Bilohorodka rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine, formed on 12 June 12 2020 and including nine neighbouring villages: Bobrytsia, Horenytsia, Myzychi, Sviatopetrivske, Hnativka, Stoianka, Shevchenko, Nehrashi, and Luka.One of the nine component villages, Hnativka, is perhaps better known by its Hebrew and Yiddish name Anatevka, and is the site of a modern-day refugee village which was named after the fictional town of Anatevka from the Sholem Aleichem stories, including Fiddler on the Roof, stories which were set in this same area of the former Kiev Gubernia.

Kriukivshchyna (Ukrainian: Крюківщина) is a village in Bucha Raion (district) of Kyiv Oblast in northern Ukraine. It belongs to Vyshneve urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine.

The Battle on the Irpin River was a semi-legendary battle between the armies of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Principality of Kiev. According to the story, Gediminas, the Grand Duke of Lithuania, conquered Volhynia before turning his attention to Kiev. He was opposed by Prince Stanislav of Kiev allied with the Principality of Pereyaslavl and Bryansk. Lithuanians achieved a great victory and extended their influence to Kiev. There are no contemporary sources attesting to the battle. It is known only from late and generally unreliable Lithuanian Chronicles. Therefore, historians disagree whether it was an actual battle in the early 1320s or a fictional story invented by later scribes. Lithuanians gained full control of the city only in 1362 after the Battle of Blue Waters against the Golden Horde.

Bilhorod Kyivskyi or Belgorod Kievsky (Ukrainian: Білгород-Київський, romanized: Bilhorod-Kyivskyi; Russian: Белгород Киевский, romanized: Belgorod Kievsky) was a legendary city-castle in Kievan Rus', on the right bank of the Irpin River (now in Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine), that was mentioned in chronicles.

Vyshneve (Ukrainian: Вишне́ве) is a city in Bucha Raion, Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine, located two kilometres (1.2 mi) south of the capital Kyiv. Vyshneve hosts the administration of Vyshneve urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. It has a population of 42,983 (2022 estimate).

Vasylkiv (also Vasyl'kiv) was an air base of the Ukrainian Air Force located near Vasylkiv, Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. The base was home to the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade.

Markhalivka (Ukrainian: Мархалівка) is a village in Fastiv Raion of Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. It belongs to Hlevakha settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The population is 1316 people. The village is located 2 km east of the Highway M05 (Ukraine), and 2 km west of the Village of Ivankovichi. The distance to Kyiv is about 30 km, and the distance to Vasylkiv is 14 km. Until 18 July 2020, Markhalivka belonged to Vasylkiv Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Kyiv Oblast to seven. The area of Vasylkiv Raion was split between Bila Tserkva, Fastiv, and Obukhiv Raions, with Markhalivka being transferred to Fastiv Raion.

Kyiv Chaika Airfield (Ukrainian: Аеродром «Київ Чайка», also given as Kyiv West) is an airport in Ukraine located in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka (Kyiv-Sviatoshyn Raion, Kyiv Region), about 15 km (9 mi) west of Kyiv. It is a general aviation airfield with Antonov An-2, An-28, and other single-engine aircraft. There is a paved 150 x 45 m tarmac ramp. It is an integral part of the Seagull Sports Complex. An aeroclub is based at the airport, training parachutists and beginners training under the United States Air Force Academy program. The sports complex is adjacent to the suburban residential complex of the same name, which got its name because of its proximity to the airfield.
