East Sharpsburg sits in the western part of Morrisons Cove, at the southern base of Loop Mountain. Plum Creek runs through the community, flowing northwest to Halter Creek at McKee Gap, where the creeks form a water gap between Dunning Mountain and Short Mountain, exiting Morrisons Cove. Halter Creek continues to the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata River, part of the Susquehanna River watershed.

Central High School in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania is the smallest of the three Central High Schools in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania with 674 students in four grades (9-12). Central High opened in 1960 with the merging of Roaring Spring High School, Morrison Cove High School, and Martinsburg High School; becoming the first and only high school in Spring Cove School District history. The school building is located on Central High Rd. and lies on ground surrounded by farm fields. Dunning Mountain is a stratigraphic ridge in central Pennsylvania, United States. The mountain's north end is at McKee Gap, which separates it from Short Mountain, and where Halter Creek flows westward towards the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata River. The south end of the mountain is contiguous with Evitts Mountain, but is marked by a sharp bend to the east. The valley formed by the bend is known as "The Kettle," and the broad valley to the east of Dunning Mountain is called Morrisons Cove. The town of Roaring Spring is located at the north end of the mountain on the east side.Route 869 crosses southern Dunning Mountain from Imler to Brumbaugh, and Route 1042 (Sproul Mountain Road) crosses it east of Sproul. It sits on both sides of Halter Creek, where the stream exits from a water gap between Short Mountain to the north and Dunning Mountain to the south. Halter Creek is a northwestward-flowing tributary of the Frankstown Branch Juniata River, part of the Susquehanna River watershed. McKee is bordered to the west by East Freedom. Woodbury Pike, carrying Pennsylvania Routes 36 and 164, passes through the center of McKee, leading northwest 1 mile (1.6 km) to Interstate 99 at Leamersville and southeast through the Halter Creek water gap 2 miles (3 km) to Roaring Spring.
