Stepping Stones Museum for Children is a hands-on children's museum for ages 10 and under located at 303 West Avenue, in the Central section of Norwalk, Connecticut. The museum's interactive exhibit areas include: "Energy Lab"; a "Multimedia Gallery" with a theater, a broadcast studio, and a 35-foot (11 m)-by-12-foot (3.7 m)-foot high-definition screen; Exhibits include "Healthyville", about bodies and healthy living; "Tot Town", an exploration area just for toddlers; "Family and Teacher Resource Center" where parents, caregivers and teachers have access to information and programs about learning through play, early literacy, 21st century learning skills and the developmental needs of young children, helping them to facilitate a child's learning – at home or at school. The entrance lobby houses ColorCoaster, a 27-foot (8.2 m) kinetic sculpture designed by artist George Rhoads. The garden features three Kinetic Energy Sculptures designed by Beinfield Architecture, which use local solar, wind and water energy. This colorful set of kinetic sculptures demonstrate simple principles of energy generation while creating percussive music. In 2011 the museum received LEED Gold Certification. Recognized by the Governor of Connecticut as one of the first projects in the state to achieve LEED Gold status. The design employs a range of solutions, from energy efficiency and use of alternative energy sources, to ensuring healthy indoor air quality and water conservation. Each element was harnessed to enhance the educational mission of the museum. The museum is located in Mathews Park, adjacent to the Lockwood–Mathews Mansion, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, a gallery and studio for printmaking, and Devon's Place, a playground designed for all children to play together, including those with physical, sensory and mental challenges.

Spring Hill is a section of Norwalk, Connecticut named after the hill on which most of the neighborhood sits. The neighborhood is located west of the Central section of Norwalk, across U.S. Route 7 and north of Interstate 95 and U.S. Route 1. Norwalk Hospital is on the eastern edge of the neighborhood. Riverside Cemetery is on the northeastern edge. About 9,000 people live in Spring Hill, a densely populated part of the city where condominiums have been built in recent decades. The Spring Hill Neighborhood Association is an advocacy group for the community. In 2008, the parks committee of the First Taxing District of Norwalk agreed to create a park out of a 0.75-acre (3,000 m2) tract surrounding the water towers in the neighborhood (bordered by Dover Street, Grandview Avenue and Magnolia Street). The property includes several oak trees that are about 150 years old. Up until the creation of the park, the neighborhood was the only one in Norwalk without a park. Riverside Park, a 1-mile (1.6 km) long strip, previously existed where the "Super 7" highway connector was built in the early 1980s.Norwalk Hospital is a major landowner in the neighborhood. Aside from the land where the hospital buildings are located, the hospital owns more than a dozen parcels totaling roughly 6 acres (2.4 ha) on Truman, Stevens and Maple streets, Magnolia Avenue and Rhodonolia. The parcels contain houses, condominiums and medical facilities.Jefferson Science Magnet School is located in Spring Hill.

The Lockwood–Mathews Mansion is a Second Empire style country house in Norwalk, Connecticut. Now a museum, it was built in 1864-68 for railroad and banking magnate LeGrand Lockwood. The 62-room 44,000 square feet (4,100 m2) mansion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1978.It has been described as "one of the earliest and finest surviving Second Empire style country houses ever built in the United States." It sits at 295 West Ave., in Mathews Park, where the Stepping Stones Museum for Children is also located.

The SoNo Collection is an upscale shopping mall in the South Norwalk neighborhood of Norwalk, Connecticut. It was announced and originally developed by GGP Inc. (General Growth Properties) in 2017; it has been owned and managed by Brookfield Properties, a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management, since its acquisition of GGP in 2018. The mall opened on October 11, 2019, and is the fourth mall in Fairfield County. The mall has adopted a phased opening process, including interactive art installations and community gathering spaces. It features southern Connecticut’s only Nordstrom and Connecticut's only Bloomingdale's as the anchor stores. It is located next to Interstate 95 and Route 7.

Pine Island Cemetery (formerly Over River Burying Ground) is a historical cemetery in Norwalk, Connecticut. It is the second oldest cemetery in Norwalk. The cemetery is located behind Lockwood–Mathews Mansion on Crescent Street. The Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism added the cemetery to the state Register of Historic Places in May 2010.On December 16, 1708 the town council granted this piece of land for a burying place. John Benedict, Zerubabell Hoyt and Thomas Betts were appointed to select the location.

St. Mary is a Roman Catholic church in Norwalk, Connecticut, part of the Diocese of Bridgeport. As the first Catholic Church in Norwalk from which three other parishes developed, St. Mary's is considered the Mother Church of Norwalk.

Wall Street station was a station on the Danbury and Norwalk Railroad (later the Danbury Branch of the Housatonic Railroad and the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad) located in Norwalk, Connecticut. It opened in 1852 and closed around 1956. A new station at the site has been considered.

The Wall Street Historic District in Norwalk, Connecticut is a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. The area encompasses the commercial and civic center of the Central Norwalk neighborhood, and includes 42 buildings, most of which are on the south side of Wall Street. Among the buildings included is an 1860 Gothic Revival church at the corner of Wall and Mott Streets.

The Central or Midtown section of Norwalk, Connecticut is an urbanized area in roughly the geographic center of the city, north of the South Norwalk neighborhood and the Connecticut Turnpike. Wall Street, West Avenue and Belden Avenue are the main thoroughfares. It has also been called "Norwalk Center" or "Downtown Norwalk". Central Norwalk is the location of a state courthouse, the Norwalk post office, the Norwalk YMCA, Norwalk Library and the River View Mall. On the north side of the intersection of West Avenue and Interstate 95, Mathews Park is the location of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion, the Stepping Stones Museum for Children, The Center for Contemporary Printmaking, the building which formerly housed the Norwalk police headquarters and Pine Island Cemetery. St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, a Gothic revival building with a very tall steeple, is a local landmark. The neighborhood has seen many new developments in recent years and local officials are considering reopening the Wall Street train station on the Danbury Line. In the summer of 2006, local merchants began the Main and Wall Street Festival with the involvement of 15 businesses, and they expanded the festival with 70 businesses involved in the second year (when it was held on August 2, 2007). At the 2007 festival, developers showed off their plans for the neighborhood.

The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk (formerly Maritime Center) is an aquarium located in the South Norwalk (or "SoNo") section of Norwalk, Connecticut. The aquarium features harbor seals, river otters, sharks, jellyfish, loggerhead turtles, and hundreds of other animals living in re-creations of their natural Long Island Sound habitats. Three touch-tanks feature stingrays, nurse sharks, crabs, sea stars, moon jellyfish and other coastal creatures. In addition to its exhibits, The Maritime Aquarium offers educational programs, year-round cruises on its 64-foot research vessel R/V Spirit of the Sound, special events and camps.

SONO 50 (also known as the SoNo Corporate Center) is an office building in Norwalk, Connecticut in the modernist style. It is the tallest building in Norwalk, standing 14 stories and 150 feet (46 m) tall.
