Grand Valley State University (GVSU, GV, or Grand Valley) is a public university in Allendale, Michigan. It was established in 1960 as Grand Valley State College. Its main campus is situated on 1,322 acres (5.35 km2) approximately 12 miles (19 km) west of Grand Rapids. The university also features campuses in Grand Rapids and Holland and regional centers in Battle Creek, Detroit, Muskegon, and Traverse City. GVSU enrolls more than 24,000 students as of fall 2021 from all 83 Michigan counties and dozens of other states and foreign countries. It employs more than 3,000 people, with about 1,780 academic faculty and 1,991 support staff. The university has alumni from 50 U.S. states, Canada, and 25 other countries.GVSU's NCAA Division II sports teams are the Lakers and they compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in all 21 intercollegiate varsity sports. They have won 28 NCAA Division II National Championships.

The Cook Carillon Tower is a 10-story-tall carillon-clock tower located in the center of the Grand Valley State University-Allendale campus in Allendale, Michigan. The tower and carillon were built in 1994 with help from generous donations by Peter C. and Pat Cook for which it is named. The tower is considered to be a major icon of both the university and its campus and creates a notable central focal point on the Allendale campus.The 48 carillon bells are cast of bronze by the Royal Eijsbouts bell foundry and Tower-clock Makers of the Netherlands. The largest bell weighs around 3,000 pounds and the smallest at just 14 pounds with sizes ranging from 51.7 to 7.5 inches. The tower itself is made of brick and stone.The carillon chimes at every quarter-hour throughout the day on a set computerized play system playing the Whittington chimes. The carillon also automatically plays the university's alma mater, "Hail to Thee, Grand Valley" after the noon chimes. However, the bells are also connected to a keyboard and playing chamber located in the middle of the tower, from which a carillonneur can play.GVSU also has another carillon, the Beckering Family Carillon Tower, located on the Pew campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Russel H. Kirkhof Center is a student union on the main Allendale campus of Grand Valley State University located in Allendale, Michigan. The center, originally called “Campus Center”, was dedicated in 1974 and renamed to its current name in 1984.The Kirkhof Center is home to many services and shops. Located inside the Kirkhof Center is as follows:Main Level: The main level contains the 2020 Information Desk, Subway, Panda Express, a convenience store/coffee shop, a movie theater, billiards, the LGBT Resource Center, Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Women's Center, and the Office of Student Life. Second Level: The second level is mostly meeting spaces and conference rooms and is home to the Grand River Room and Pere Marquette Room. Lower Level: The lower level contains the office of Grand Valley Lanthorn, the WCKS student radio station, and the Grand Valley TV studio. Additionally, it contains the Promotions Office, Area 51, dining rooms, and the Replenish Food Pantry.

Lubbers Stadium, or Arend D. Lubbers Stadium, is a stadium on the Grand Valley State University's main campus in Allendale, Michigan, USA. The stadium was named after former university president Arend Lubbers. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of the Grand Valley State Lakers. "Lakers Stadium" - as it was originally known - was constructed in 1972, and opened in 1973. It now officially seats 10,444 people - though it almost always holds thousands more fans. The stadium is also home to a football offices and weight training facility.

The Meadows at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, is the home of the Grand Valley State Lakers men's and women's golf teams. The links-style championship course was designed by Michael John Hurdzan in 1994. The course has hosted six NCAA National Championships since its opening and will host the women's National Championship in the spring of 2011. The Meadows has been explained as "One of the first West Michigan golf courses classified as upscale," by Michigan Golf. The course is located on the northwest quadrant of GVSU's main Allendale campus.

Grand Valley is an unincorporated community in Tallmadge Charter Township in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is on M-45 just east of the Grand River at 42°58′28″N 85°52′11″W. The valley is about a mile (1.4 km) wide here and somewhat wider just to the south, with steep bluffs on the western and southern side of the river. The main campus of Grand Valley State University is situated on the west side of the river in Allendale Charter Township. The Grand Valley Metropolitan Council, (http://www.gvmc.org) is a partnership of local governments dedicated to intergovernmental cooperation and collaboration in the Grand Valley region.

Tallmadge Charter Township is a charter township of Ottawa County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 7,575 at the 2010 census.

Charleston was a settlement in Allendale Township, Ottawa County, Michigan. It began as a trading settlement to exchange goods with the local Native Americans in 1810, constructed by Pierre Constant. According to the Honorable William M. Ferry, "The first trader who located in what was Ottawa County--then embracing Muskegon county--was Pierre Constant, a Frenchman, of the type that advanced guard of pioneers--Marquette, LaSalle, Joliet, and Tonti--who, two hundred years before, invaded and brought to the world the great Northwest. [Constant] was of the chevalier order of men--brave, honorable, and undaunted, amid all dangers. In 1810, he engaged with the British Fur Company, then having a depot at Mackinaw, as a trader; and with his supply of merchandise coasted along the shore of Lake Michigan, and established a trading post on Grand River, near what is now called Charleston, and another on the banks of Muskegon Lake."Charleston was platted in 1836. However the sawmill was removed in 1872 and the village ceased to exist.

Allendale High School is located in Allendale, Michigan, in the United States, in the Allendale Public School District, serving grades 9–12.

Allendale is a census-designated place (CDP) in Ottawa County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 17,579 at the 2010 census. It is located within Allendale Charter Township, occupying approximately the northern two-thirds of the township, from the eastern boundary with the Grand River west along Pierce St., north along 75th Ave., then west along Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) to the western boundary of the township. It is a part of the Grand Rapids-Muskegon-Holland, Michigan combined statistical area, and is an exurb of Grand Rapids, due to its major commuter routes into the city (M-45 and I-96). The ZIP code 49401 serves all of Allendale and many of the remnant portions of the township, as well as portions of Blendon Township to the south and Georgetown Township to the southeast.Allendale is named for the township. The township was organized in 1849, state senator Pennoyer changed the name to Allendale, after Agnes Allen, the first person on the tax roll in the area and the widow of Hannibal Allen, who was the son of Revolutionary War hero Ethan Allen.Allendale is home to the main campus of Grand Valley State University.

Allendale Charter Township is best known as being home to the main campus of Grand Valley State University. Allendale is located in the center of Ottawa County, bordered by Tallmadge Township, Polkton Township, Robinson Township, Blendon Township and Georgetown Township.

Jenison High School is the senior high school for Jenison Public Schools located in Jenison, Michigan serving grades 9 through 12. The school's athletics department competes in the Ottawa-Kent Conference.
