Cairns State High School

Cairns Technical College and High School Building is a heritage-listed state school at Sheridan Street, Cairns North, Cairns, Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Nigel Laman Thomas of the Department of Public Works (Queensland) and built from 1939 to 1941 by day labour. It is also known as Block A of Cairns State High School. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 9 May 2014.

It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 1 July 1997.Following completion of the new St Monica's Cathedral, the building was deconsecrated as a church and has subsequently been repurposed as offices for the Diocese of Cairns and local parish.

The building complex has a 667-space multi-storey car park with a pedestrian overpass linking it to the rest of the hospital.In 2011, a shortage of beds for mental health patients meant some were staying for more than 100 hours in the emergency department.

It was designed by Vibert McKirdy Brown and built in 1941 by VW Doyle. This building was once also known as St Monica's High School and was used for several years as the school administration building, although now it contains classrooms. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 1 July 1997. St Monica's College is the oldest school in the Cairns region and has two heritage listed buildings - Sr Morrissey Building and the Sr Cecilia Building.
