The Paluxy River, also known as Paluxy Creek, is a river in the U.S. state of Texas. It is a tributary of the Brazos River. It is formed by the convergence of the North Paluxy River and the South Paluxy River near Bluff Dale, Texas in Erath County and flows a distance of 29 miles (47 km) before joining the Brazos just to the east of Glen Rose, Texas in south central Somervell County.It is best known for numerous dinosaur footprints found in its bed near Glen Rose at the Dinosaur Valley State Park. The Paluxy River became famous for controversy in the early 1930s when locals found dinosaur and supposed human footprints in the same rock layer in the Glen Rose Formation, which were widely publicized as evidence against the geological time scale and in favor of young-Earth creationism. However, these anachronistic "human" footprints have been determined to be elongated dinosaur tracks, river scour marks, and hoaxes.

North Central Texas Academy (NCTA) is a boarding, day, and international Christian school, located on a 500-acre campus known as Happy Hill Farm. It is fully accredited (K-12) by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). There is an athletic center, dining center, fine arts center, residences for boarding students, staff housing, an agricultural center with a show ring, livestock pens, stables and riding trails, athletic fields, a track and stadium, swimming pool, tennis courts, a welcome center, an inn and training center, and an administrative center.

Happy Hill Farm is a Thoroughbred horse racing operation in Newtown Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It was originally owned by Cortright Wetherill (1923-1988) and his wife Ella A. Widener-Wetherill (1928-1986) whose Widener family of Philadelphia is one of the most prominent and respected in American Thoroughbred racing history. Most notably, Happy Hill Farm was the breeder of the Kentucky-born stallion Raise a Native who became one of the most important sires in North America. With trainer Frank I. Wright, the Wetherills had a number of successes on the racetrack. In 1968, Ludham won the New York and Sheepshead Bay Handicaps. Their gelding Kingmaker won races from age three through five including the Whitney Handicap and New Orleans Handicap in 1957 and in 1958, the Excelsior Handicap. In recent years, Peter Wetherill raced multiple winner Self Rising, a son of Classic Race winner Hansel, and currently has Academy Royale, sired by Breeders' Cup Mile winner Royal Academy, along with a few other horses competing on the New York racing circuit, all of which are trained by Peter D. Pugh.

Glen Rose is a city in and the county seat of Somervell County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 2,659.

Comanche Creek Reservoir (formerly Squaw Creek Reservoir) is a 3,275-acre (13.3 km²) impoundment located between Glen Rose, Texas and Granbury, Texas. The primary purpose is cooling for Comanche Peak Nuclear Generating Station. During full operation of both units of Comanche Peak, 2.2 million US gallons (8,300 m3) of water are pumped through the plant's main condensers from Comanche Creek Reservoir.The water is relatively clear and provides good bass fishing. The shoreline is rocky. Situated about 45 miles southwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in Hood and Somerville county this reservoir was built in 1979 by the Texas Utilities Generating Company (now Luminant Power), and has an average depth of 46 ft. This reservoir is used to cool down the nuclear power plant in Somerville county. There are several fish species such as Largemouth and Smallmouth bass, Channel catfish and Sunfish. Luminant Power also has a park that can be used for recreational purposes. The park was closed and scheduled to be reopened sometime in January 2022.

Barnard's Mill is located in Glen Rose, Texas. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 9, 1982. The building is owned by the Somervell History Foundation, and operated as Barnard's Mill Art Museum. The museum's collection include works from Jewell Miears Fielder, Amy Miears Jackson, Robert Summers, Jack Bryant, R. Kleinfelder, Morris Henry Hobbs, Asian and Native American art and artifacts.

Glen Rose Independent School District is a public school district based in Glen Rose, Texas (United States). Glen Rose ISD covers most of Somervell County and includes the unincorporated communities of Nemo and Rainbow. In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.

Glen Rose High School is a public high school serving students grades 9–12 located in the city of Glen Rose, Somervell County, Texas, and is zoned to the city of Glen Rose and the unincorporated communities of Glass, Rainbow and Nemo It is the only high school in the serving Glen Rose ISD and is in UIL region 4A, In 2022, the school received an "A" rating from the Texas Education Agency.

Somervell County ( SUM-ər-vel) is a county on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 9,205. Its county seat is Glen Rose. The county is named for Alexander Somervell, secretary of war for the Republic of Texas. Somervell County is included in the Granbury micropolitan area. The county contains the Comanche Peak Nuclear Generating Station, one of two nuclear power plants in Texas.

Rock Creek is an unincorporated community in Somervell County, Texas. It is located along Farm to Market Road 202 and is near the headwaters of Rock Creek, a tributary of the Brazos River.

Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant is located in Somervell County, Texas. The nuclear power plant is located 40 miles (64 km) southwest of Ft. Worth and about 60 miles (97 km) southwest of Dallas. It relies on nearby Squaw Creek Reservoir for cooling water. The plant has about 1,300 employees and is operated by Luminant Generation, a subsidiary of Vistra Corp. The Engineer of Record is Gibbs & Hill, Inc. of New York, New York.Construction of the two Westinghouse pressurized water reactors began in 1974. Unit 1, originally rated at 1,084 MWe, came online on April 17, 1990. Its current, 40-year operating license is valid until February 8, 2030. Unit 2, 1,124 MWe, followed on April 6, 1993 and is licensed to operate until February 2, 2033 when it has to renew its license. As of 2023, Unit 2 was the fourth-to-last power reactor to come online in the United States, followed only by Units 1 and 2 at Watts Bar and Unit 3 at Vogtle. In June 2008, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approved a request to increase the generating capacity of Units 1 and 2 by approximately 4.5% each. Luminant Generation Co. implemented the changes during refueling outages. Unit 1 was uprated in autumn 2008 with a capacity increase of approximately 1,210 to 1,259 MWe and Unit 2, the capacity of which rose from an estimated 1,208 to 1,245 MWe, was uprated in autumn 2009.

The Creation Evidence Museum of Texas, originally Creation Evidences Museum, is a creationist museum in Glen Rose in Somervell County in central Texas, United States. Founded in 1984 by Carl Baugh for the purpose of researching and displaying exhibits that support creationism, it portrays the Earth as six thousand years old and humans coexisting with dinosaurs, disputing that the Earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old and dinosaurs became extinct 65.5 million years before human beings arose.
