The Mamelles Desalination Plant is a sea water desalination plant under construction in the city of Dakar in Senegal. The facility is under development by the government of Senegal, with financial support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The Senegalese national water company (Société Nationale des Eaux du Senegal), SONES, is developing the project on behalf on the Senegalese government, and the Japanese private company Nippon Koei, is developing the project, on behalf of JICA. Construction started in June 2022, at a budgeted cost of €200 million and an expected output of 50,000 cubic meters (50,000,000 L) of desalinated potable water every day in the first phase, expandable to 100,000 cubic meters (100,000,000 L) daily, in the second phase.

Les Mamelles Lighthouse (French: Phare des Mamelles) is a strategically important lighthouse situated near Cap Vert, the westernmost point of Africa, on the outskirts of Dakar the capital of Senegal. Completed in 1864, it has been described as "one of the world's great lighthouses, guiding ships around the western tip of Africa".It is located on the higher of the Deux Mamelles, a pair of prominent hills in Ouakam, a suburban commune of Dakar, 4 km southeast of Almadies and 9 km northwest of Dakar on the Cap-Vert peninsula.

Deux Mamelles, Collines des Mamelles, or simply Mamelles are twin hills located in Ouakam, a suburban commune of Dakar, in the Cap-Vert peninsula, Senegal. These hills are of volcanic origin and they are the vestiges of a plateau from the early Quaternary. The highest hill is only 105 metres (344 ft) high, but they stand out in the landscape owing to the flat surroundings. The name of these breast-shaped hills comes from the French term “Mamelle”, a name commonly applied in the French-speaking parts of the world to a breast.On the seaward hill stands a lighthouse, the Phare des Mamelles, while on the hill further ashore the African Renaissance Monument was erected and unveiled in 2010.

Pointe des Almadies or Point Almadies ([pwɑ̃t dez‿almadi] "bark canoe point") is the westernmost point on the continent of Africa and of the Afro-Eurasian landmass, lying at 17.5 degrees west of the Greenwich meridian, 8 degrees further west than Cabo da Roca, mainland Europe's westernmost point. Pointe des Almadies is located on the north-western end of the Cap Vert peninsula in Senegal.

Ngor (lit. 'honorable' in Wolof) is a commune d'arrondissement of the city of Dakar, Senegal. As of 2013 it had a population of 17,383. The westernmost point of the country and the mainland African continent is located in Ngor. Ngor is one of the four original Lebou villages of the Cap-Vert Peninsula, along with Yoff, Hann, and Ouakam. It includes the small island of Ngor. Ngor's recorded history dates back to 1550, when migrants from the interior of Senegal including the Walo, Cayor, Jolof (also as Djolof or Wolof) and Baol came into the Cap-Vert peninsula.

Cap-Vert, or the Cape Verde Peninsula, and Kap Weert or Bopp bu Nëtëx (in Wolof), is a peninsula in Senegal and the westernmost point of the continent of Africa and of the Afro-Eurasia mainland. Portuguese explorers called it Cabo Verde or "Green Cape". The Cape Verde islands, 570 kilometres (350 mi) further west, are named after the cape. Dakar, the capital of Senegal, occupies parts including its southern tip. the peninsula marks the border between Grande Côte to the north and Petite Côte to the south. It is itself delimited by two capes, Pointe des Almadies to the northwest and cap Manuel to the southeast . The larger of the Deux Mamelles volcanic hills in Dakar — topped by Les Mamelles Lighthouse — is its highest point. Formed by a combination of volcanic offshore islands and a land bridge produced by coastal currents, the cape projects into the Atlantic Ocean, bending back to the southeast at its tip. Exposure to southwesterly winds contributes to Cape Verde's seasonal verdant appearance, in contrast to the undulating yellow dunes to the north. The peninsula is shaped like a triangle (about 9 miles (14 km) per side), with the base of the triangle roughly along the north and its apex on the south, near Dakar. Near Pointe des Almadies, the north-western tip of the cape, lies Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport, which was used as a transatlantic ferrying point during World War II. Twin volcanic cones, the Deux Mamelles ("Two Teats"), dominate the landscape along the coast northwest of Dakar. The peninsula encloses a bay and a natural harbour in the southwest. The indigenous inhabitants of the peninsula, the Lebou, lived as fishermen and farmers. Since about 1444, when the Portuguese first sighted the cape, it has been an entrepôt for African-European trade. The French later established the city of Dakar on the cape in 1857.

The African Renaissance Monument (French: Monument de la Renaissance Africaine) is a 49 m (161 ft) tall bronze statue located on top of one of the twin hills known as Collines des Mamelles, outside Dakar, Senegal. Built overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the Ouakam suburb, the statue was designed by the Senegalese architect Pierre Goudiaby after an idea presented by president Abdoulaye Wade and built by Mansudae Overseas Projects, a company from North Korea.Site preparation on top of the 100-meter high hill began in 2006, and construction of the bronze statue began 2008. Originally scheduled for completion in December 2009, delays stretched into early 2010, and the formal dedication occurred on 4 April 2010, Senegal's "National Day", commemorating the 50th anniversary of the country's independence from France. It is the tallest statue in Africa. The project attracted significant criticism due to its expense.

Stade de Ngor is a multi-use stadium in Ngor in the west of Dakar, Senegal. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as a home ground of Olympique de Ngor, also Almadies plays at the stadium. The stadium holds 3,000 people. It is just around a kilometer southeast of the center of Ngor and west of Dakar International Airport, the main airport (or hub) will be about 50 km east of Dakar and it likely becomes a secondary airport. It is the westernmost sports stadium on the African mainland, Estádio Municipal do Porto Novo (Porto Novo Municipal Stadium) in Cape Verde is the westernmost of the whole of Africa. The first continental competition took place with one of the two matches of the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup at the stadium with the clubs Unisport de Bafang of Cameroon and Hearts of Oak of Ghana.

The Mosque of Divinity (Arabic: مسجد اللاهوت) built 1997, is a mosque located in Ouakam, Senegal. It is a structure with two minarets. The mosque provides a view of the Atlantic Ocean, as the mosque lies near the shore, at the Corniche-Ouest.

Ouakam is a commune d'arrondissement in the city of Dakar, Senegal. The commune is the birthplace of French politicians Ségolène Royal and Rama Yade and Senegalese writer and politician Birago Diop. Ouakam is one of the four original Lebou villages of the Cap-Vert Peninsula, along with Yoff, Ngor, and Hann.

Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport (French: Aéroport international Léopold-Sédar-Senghor, IATA: DKR, ICAO: GOOY) is an international freight and former passenger airport serving Dakar, the capital of Senegal. The airport is situated near the town of Yoff, a northern suburb of Dakar. It was known as Dakar-Yoff International Airport (French: Aéroport international de Dakar-Yoff) until 9 October 1996, when it was renamed in honor of Léopold Sédar Senghor, the first president of Senegal.
