Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center

The Utica Psychiatric Center, also known as Utica State Hospital, opened in Utica on January 16, 1843. It was New York's first state-run facility designed to care for the mentally ill, and one of the first such institutions in the United States. It was originally called the New York State Lunatic Asylum at Utica. The Greek Revival structure was designed by Captain William Clarke and its construction was funded by the state and by contributions from Utica residents. In 1977, the last patients were transferred to other care facilities and the hospital was closed. The hospital building is now used as a records archive for the New York State Office of Mental Health. It has been a National Historic Landmark since 1989. The building sits on the present-day campus of the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center along with newer buildings, some of which are still in use for psychiatric and other medical care.

Globe Woolen Company Mills is a historic woolen mill complex and national historic district located at Utica, Oneida County, New York. It encompasses four contributing components of an intact mill complex: the Woolen Mill Grouping (1872-1873); Storehouse #2 (1872-1873); Storehouse #3 (1872-1873); and the Worsted Mill Grouping (1886). They include four-story mill buildings, attached company office, and two remaining store houses. The buildings are constructed of red brick and have Italianate style design elements. After the mill closed in the 1950s, the buildings were reused for college classrooms and later as offices.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

F.X. Matt Brewing Company is a family-owned brewery in Utica, New York. It is the fourth oldest family-owned brewery in the United States, having brewed beer since 1888. Its most popular product is the Saranac line of beers; soft drinks such as root beer and ginger beer are also sold.

WUSP (1550 kHz) is an AM radio station in Utica, New York. Programming is simulcast on WRCK 1480 kHz in Remsen, New York. Two FM translators also carry the programming, 95.5 MHz W238CA in Utica, relaying WUSP, and 94.1 MHz W231DZ Remsen, relaying WRCK. The stations are owned by the Utica Phoenix, a local alternative newspaper, and air an urban contemporary - hip hop music radio format.

On the night of June 28, 2024, Nyah Mway (Karen: [ˈnja mwe]), a thirteen-year-old Southeast Asian American refugee, was shot and killed in Utica, New York, by Patrick Husnay, an officer of the Utica Police Department (UPD). He is thought to be the first Karen person killed in the United States by a police officer. Police shootings of Asian Americans are uncommon compared to other ethnic groups. As of August 2024 the case is under investigation by the attorney general of New York.

St. Joseph's Church, also known as St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, is a historic Roman Catholic church complex at 704-708 Columbia Street in Utica, Oneida County, New York. The complex consists of the church, St. Joseph's Parochial School (1885), St. Joseph's Parochial Residence (1906), and Parish Convent building (1891). The parish is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse.

The Millar-Wheeler House is a historic home located at 1423 Genesee Street in Utica, Oneida County, New York. It was built in 1866, and consists of a three-story, square, brick main block and two-story, frame rear wing. It features an ornate Italianate style entrance portico topped by an oriel window, a low-pitched hipped roof with broad eaves and belvedere, and scrolled brackets.: 3  It is operated as Rosemont Inn, a bed and breakfast. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The First Presbyterian Church is a historic church building in Utica, New York, United States. The church and its related McKinnon House were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The structures are notable for their early twentieth century design and architecture.The church was designed by Boston architect Ralph Adams Cram and built in 1922. The McKinnon House was designed by Binghamton architect C. Edward Vosbury and built in 1899.1961 saw the joining of the Church and the Church House with the construction of a number of classrooms, Fellowship Hall, and a modernized kitchen, and the installation of a Casavant Freres organ.

Fountain Elms is a historic home located at Utica in Oneida County, New York. It is part of the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute. The original block was completed in 1852 in the "Italian Style". It is basically a cube with a center hall plan. The original rear wing was remodeled in 1883 and a third two-story wing added. An additional wing and piazza were added in 1908, resulting in the current irregular plan.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Munson (Formally Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute) is a regional fine arts center founded in 1919 and located in Utica, New York. The institute has three program divisions, museum of art, performing arts and school of art.

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is a non-profit health system providing services to residents of the Mohawk Valley in Central New York. It was created in 2014 as an affiliation of Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Medical Center. In October 2023, MVHS moved all acute care beds and emergency services to a new hospital, the Wynn Hospital, in downtown Utica.MVHS is a designated Children's Miracle Network Hospital.

Utica Public Library is a historic library building located in Utica in Oneida County, New York. It is a rectangular five story Neoclassical style structure, constructed of New Haven brick on a limestone foundation. It features a central pedimented pavilion with Corinthian order columns. It was designed in 1903 by Arthur C. Jackson of Carrère and Hastings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.Originally the Utica Public Library sat at the Broad Street offices of Attorney Justus Rathbone in 1825. In 1842 the library had 1,700 volumes. It then reached 4,000 volumes in 1865. In 1904 more than 25,000 books from Elizabeth Street were transferred to the library. In February 2004, the computer room was opened.
