Priesthood Restoration

Restoration of the Melchizedek Priesthood is a 1960s bronze sculpture by Avard Fairbanks. The artwork was commissioned by the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) for Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. The sculpture commemorates the restoration of the Melchizedek priesthood, an event in which, according to Latter-day Saint belief, the higher order of the power and authority of God was given to male leaders of the church. Besides the sculpture at Temple Square, a plaster version is on display at the Fairview Museum of History and Art in Fairview, Utah, and an additional bronze casting is located at the Priesthood Restoration Site in Oakland Township, Pennsylvania.

The Nauvoo Bell is a bell tower in Salt Lake City's Temple Square, in the U.S. state of Utah.The tower displays multiple sculptures, including 1942 works by Avard Fairbanks. Benevolence depicts women and children and measures approximately 4 feet tall by 3 feet wide. Pioneering has the same dimensions and depicts a family with one man, one women, and two children. Both works, collectively known as the Bell Tower Plaques, were surveyed by the Smithsonian Institution's Save Outdoor Sculpture!" program in 1993.

The Salt Lake Tabernacle, also known as the Mormon Tabernacle, is located on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, in the U.S. state of Utah. The Tabernacle was built from 1863 to 1875 to house meetings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), and was the location of the church's semi-annual general conference until the meeting was moved to the new and larger LDS Conference Center in 2000. Now a historic building on Temple Square, the Salt Lake Tabernacle is still used for overflow crowds during general conference. It is renowned for its remarkable acoustics. Tabernacle Choir has performed there for over 100 years.

The Salt Lake Assembly Hall is a building owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) which sits on the southwest corner of Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. It has seating capacity for an audience of approximately 1,400 people.

The Seagull Monument is a small monument situated immediately in front of the Salt Lake Assembly Hall on Temple Square, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Monument commemorates what some members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) call the miracle of the gulls.

Handcart Pioneers (also known as the Handcart Pioneers Monument) is a 1926 bronze sculpture by Torleif S. Knaphus, installed in Salt Lake City’s Temple Square, in the U.S. state of Utah.

The Endowment House was an early building used by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) to administer temple ordinances in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory. From the construction of the Council House in 1852, Salt Lake City's first public building, until the construction of the Endowment House, the members of the LDS Church used the top floor of the Council House for administering temple ordinances. When this arrangement proved impractical, Brigham Young directed Truman O. Angell, architect of the Salt Lake Temple, to design a temporary temple. Completed in 1855, the building was dedicated by Heber C. Kimball and came to be called the Endowment House after the endowment ceremonies that were conducted inside it.

The Deseret Museum was a museum in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was originally opened as the "Salt Lake City Museum and Menagerie" by John Willard Young, with Guglielmo Giosue Rosetti Sangiovanni as curator, in 1869.Ownership was transferred to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1878 and Joseph L. Barfoot became curator until his death in 1882. In 1885, the Salt Lake Literary and Scientific Association acquired the property and renamed it the "Deseret Museum". In 1891 James E. Talmage became curator and was assisted by J. Reuben Clark Jr. until 1903. When Talmage was called to the Quorum of the Twelve in 1911 his son, Sterling B. Talmage, became curator. In 1919, the museum was taken over by the Temple Square Bureau of Information and ceased its existence as a separate institution. The collections not displayed at Temple Square were dispersed among institutions around the world, including the LDS University museum and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers museum.

Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City is surrounded by urban gardens and parks which cover approximately 14 hectares (35 acres) within Temple Square, the Conference Center, and the area surrounding headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The garden on the rooftop of the Conference Center, by design, has no annual plants; it is mostly herbaceous perennials and woody plants.The gardens at Temple Square include 250 flower beds, over 165,000 bedding plants, and over 700 varieties of plants from all over the world. The gardens are redesigned every six months and replanted mostly by volunteers and seven full-time supervising gardeners. The Salt Lake Temple used to have an attached greenhouse. Currently, the LDS Church operates four greenhouses away from Temple Square that grow all of the flowers and plants that are needed at the gardens. Most greenhouses have trial spaces to try the designs before implementing them on Temple Square. There is free general public access to all gardens on Temple Square. Guided tours are available to some of the gardens, including those on the roof of the Conference Center. The gardening staff and volunteers string more than three hundred thousand Christmas lights along branches of trees and shrubs and around flower beds.

Temple Square is a 10-acre (4.0 ha) complex, owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), in the center of Salt Lake City, Utah. The usage of the name has gradually changed to include several other church facilities that are immediately adjacent to Temple Square. Contained within Temple Square are the Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake Tabernacle, Salt Lake Assembly Hall, the Seagull Monument, and two visitors' centers. The square was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1964, recognizing the Mormon achievement in the settlement of Utah.

Richard Court is an 11-story 90-unit residential court split into 2 separate buildings around the Richard Court. Richard court is a small court that leads straight into the City Creek Center. Richard Court is located opposite from the Salt Lake Temple and consists of brick facade, retail outlets on the ground floor and underground parking.
