Santa Maria Maggiore is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Labro, in the province of Rieti, region of Lazio, Italy.

Buonacquisto is a locality in the municipality of Arrone, in Umbria, central Italy. It lies at an elevation of about 692 metres (2,270 ft) and has 52 inhabitants as of 31 December 2021. Historically, it was an independent community and later an appodiato (subordinate administrative unit) of Arrone, with medieval origins linked to the fortified network of castles in the Nera valley.

The ancient Roman villa of Quintus Axius was a large rural villa rustica in the locality of Grotte di San Nicola, Colli sul Velino (Rieti, Lazio), Italy. It is one of the relatively few known farm-estates of ancient Roman Italy, especially of those that can be assigned to a known senator of the Axia gens family, friend of Varro and Cicero who wrote about his visit there.

Arrone is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Terni in the Italian region Umbria, located about 70 km southeast of Perugia and about 10 km east of Terni in the Valnerina. It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy").

Lago di Piediluco is a lake that straddles the border between the Province of Terni, Umbria, Italy and the Province of Rieti, Lazio. At an elevation of 375 m (1,230 ft), its surface area is 1.58 km2 (0.61 sq mi). The lake is formed by the inflow of water from three sources: the Rio Fuscello, the Velino river and the Nera river. The flow from the Rio Fuscello is naturally occurring, while the flows from the Nera and Velino rivers are each influenced in some part due to man-made means. A partial diversion of the Nera in the Nera river valley (Valnerina) conducts the flow via a lengthy aqueduct and canal system built in the 1920s during the fascist regime of Benito Mussolini, entering the lake at the north-western end of the village of Piediluco, near the entrance to the town from the "Via Ternana" SS79 motorway. A canal approximately 400 metres (1,300 ft) long was built, also in the 1920s, to divert the Velino river from its existing natural course into the lake. The purpose of this work was to improve hydroelectric power production. At one time the lake was part of a much larger lake, known from Roman times as "Lacus Velinus" or Lake Velino. Lake Piediluco was formed as a result of cuts downstream from the lake that drained the waters of Lake Velino into the lower Nera River, which also created the Cascata delle Marmore waterfall. Lake Piediluco is the site of the Italian National Rowing Center, which hosts many training and competition events at the national, European, and international levels. The lake is ideal for the sport due to its shape, central geographical location, and the relatively calm winds.

Polino is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Terni in the Italian region Umbria, located about 70 km southeast of Perugia and about 15 km east of Terni. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 275 and an area of 19.5 km2. Polino borders the following municipalities: Arrone, Ferentillo, Leonessa, Morro Reatino, Rivodutri.

Montefranco is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Terni in the Italian region Umbria, located about 70 km southeast of Perugia and about 10 km northeast of Terni. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,329 and an area of 10.1 km2. Montefranco borders the following municipalities: Arrone, Ferentillo, Spoleto, Terni.

Ferentillo is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Terni in the Italian region Umbria, located about 60 km southeast of Perugia and about 12 km northeast of Terni. The comune, located in the valley of the Nera, is divided by the river into the burghs of Matterella and Precetto. Ferentillo borders the following municipalities: Arrone, Leonessa, Montefranco, Monteleone di Spoleto, Polino, Scheggino, Spoleto.

The Hermitage of Greccio Sanctuary (Italian: Santuario Eremo di Greccio) is one of the four shrines erected by Saint Francis of Assisi in the Sacred Valley, along with the Sanctuary of Fonte Colombo, the Sanctuary of the Forest, and the convent of Poggio Bustone. It is located in the Italian town of Greccio, about 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) from the city of Rieti, seat of the homonym province, is recessed at an altitude of 665 metres (2,182 ft) above sea level, in the rocks of the mountains in the immediate vicinity of the medieval village of Greccio with views of the wide Rieti Valley. Francis presented the first living Nativity scene in a nearby cave in December 1223.

The Cascata delle Marmore (Italian: [kaˈskaːta delle ˈmarmore]) or Marmore Falls is a tiered, man-made waterfall in Italy, created by the Romans in 271 BC. At 165m (541 feet) tall, it is the largest man-made waterfall in the world. It is located 7.7 km from Terni, in the region of Umbria.

The Velino is a river in central Italy, a tributary of the Nera. Its source is located on Monte Pozzoni's slopes (1,903 m) near Cittareale. Aftwards, it runs through a narrow valley next the Mount Terminillo, known as "Gole del Vento" ("Wind's Ravines") and, near Antrodoco, receives the Peschiera Springs, which have a discharge of some 18 m³/s (9.5 m³/s is sent to Rome) through an aqueduct. Then, it receives the waters of its left tributaries Salto and Turano, and then enters the plain of Rieti, where its discharge if further increased by other minor streams to reach 60 m³/s. Near Papigno, it falls into the Nera forming the famous Cascate delle Marmore falls. In pre-Roman times, the river ended in a marsh within the plain of Rieti. The falls were created by consul Manius Curius Dentatus and enlarged in medieval times, being updated to the current state in the 18th century by architect Andrea Vici.
