The University of Santa Monica is a private unaccredited graduate school in Santa Monica, California, offering master’s of arts in spiritual psychology.

Providence Saint John's Health Center, formerly St. Johns Hospital and Health Center, is a private not-for-profit, Roman Catholic hospital in Santa Monica, California, United States. The hospital was founded in 1942 by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. In 2014, the hospital was transferred to Providence Health & Services.

On February 19, 1976, 18-year-old student Neil Jordan "Bishop" Liebeskind opened with fire a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun at the Computer Learning Center, an independent computer school in downtown Los Angeles. After killing one student and wounding seven others in a classroom, he fled to the parking lot. Security guards for a television crew nearby overheard the shooting, so they ran to the school and ordered Liebeskind to surrender. The gunman instead shot and wounded one of the security guards, so they returned fire and severely wounded him. At his trial, Liebeskind was found not guilty by reason of insanity. He was subsequently sent to a mental hospital.

The Gehry Residence is architect Frank Gehry's home. It was originally an extension, designed by Gehry and built around an existing Dutch colonial style house. It makes use of unconventional materials, such as chain-link fences and corrugated steel. It is sometimes considered one of the earliest deconstructivist buildings, although Gehry denies this. The residence is in Santa Monica, California. In 1977, Frank and Berta Gehry bought a pink bungalow originally built in 1920. Gehry wanted to experiment with the materials he was already using—metal, plywood, chain link fencing, and wood framing. In 1978, he chose to wrap the house with a new exterior while leaving the old exterior visible. He hardly touched the rear and south facades, and to the other sides of the house he added tilted glass cubes. Many of Gehry's neighbors were unhappy with the unusual architecture appearing in their neighborhood.As of 2016, Gehry still owns the house. Though he has nearly finished building another residence overlooking Rustic Canyon, he plans to keep the Santa Monica house in the family.

Playboy Studio West is located at 2112 Broadway Avenue, Santa Monica, California. It is one of Playboy's key studio facilities for Playboy photographers to shoot centerfolds and Playmate pictorials. Many models had their test nude shoots taken at this facility prior to being considered for a Playmate pictorial in Playboy. Its exterior and interior were shown in episodes of E! The western border of Santa Monica, California, is the 3-mile (4.8 km) stretch of Santa Monica Bay.
