Ushkovo (Russian: Ушково; Finnish: Tyrisevä) is a municipal settlement in Kurortny District of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia, located on the Karelian Isthmus, on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland. Population: 618 (2010 Census); 482 (2002 Census); 6,031 (1989 Census).Before the Winter and the Continuation Wars, it was a part of Finland's municipality of Terijoki (modern Zelenogorsk).

Serovo (Russian: Серо́во; Finnish: Vammelsuu) is a municipal settlement in Kurortny District of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia, located on the Karelian Isthmus, on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland, where the Roshchinka River (Finnish: Vammeljoki) empties into the gulf. Population: 280 (2010 Census); 252 (2002 Census).

Population: 14,958 (2010 Census); 12,074 (2002 Census); 13,032 (1989 Census).It has a station on the St. Petersburg-Vyborg railroad. It is located about 50 kilometers (31 mi) northwest of central Saint Petersburg.

Molodyozhnoye (Russian: Молодёжное; Finnish: Metsäkylä) is a municipal settlement in Kurortny District of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia, located on the Karelian Isthmus, on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland. Population: 1,587 (2010 Census) 1,437 (2002 Census).Until the end of the Winter War in 1940, it was a part of Finland.

Church of Our Lady of Kazan (also Church of the Theotokos of Kazan, Russian: Церковь Казанской иконы Божьей Матери, Finnish: Terijoen ortodoksinen kirkko) is a Russian Orthodox church in Zelenogorsk (Finnish:Terijoki) in Russia. It was completed in 1915 while the town was a part of the Grand Duchy of Finland. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of Kazan, probably the most venerated icon in Russia.

Smolyachkovo (Russian: Смолячково; Finnish: Luutahäntä) is a municipal settlement in Kurortny District of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia, located on the Karelian Isthmus on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland. Population: 610 (2010 Census); 568 (2002 Census). Before Winter War and Continuation War it was part of Finland in municipality of Terijoki.

Komarovo (Russian: Комаро́во, IPA: [kəmɐˈrovə]; Finnish: Kellomäki) is a municipal settlement in Kurortny District of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia, located in the Karelian Isthmus on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, and a station of the Saint Petersburg-Vyborg railroad. It is about 45 kilometers (28 mi) northwest of central Saint Petersburg. Population: 1,230 (2010 Census); 1,062 (2002 Census); 1,635 (1989 Soviet census). Komarovo is renowned for being the residence of numerous Russian intellectuals and prominent figures in science and culture. Among some of its most notable residents were, for example, three Nobel Prize laureates: Ivan Pavlov, Joseph Brodsky, and Zhores Alferov. The list also includes renowned individuals such as jeweller Peter Carl Fabergé, composer Dmitri Shostakovich, poet Anna Akhmatova, dissident Dmitry Likhachev, ballet dancers Mathilde Kschessinska and Galina Ulanova, film actor Innokenty Smoktunovsky, as well as science-fiction authors Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, among many others. During the summer months, the population increases by a factor of five to six.[2]

Fort Ino or Fort Nikolaevsky (Russian: форт «Ино» or форт Николаевский) is an abandoned early 20th-century Russian coastal fortification situated on the northern shore of Neva Bay in the Gulf of Finland. The fort is close to the present-day settlement Privetninskoye (former name was Ino before 1946) of Vyborgsky District of Leningrad Oblast, opposite the Krasnaya Gorka fort on the southern shore. Fort Ino is still under Russian control. The ruins of the fortress, with an extensive system of tunnels, are now abandoned and are partially accessible to the public.

Oleg (Russian: Олег) was the 4th and final Bogatyr-class protected cruiser built for the Imperial Russian Navy.

The Shelling of Mainila (Finnish: Mainilan laukaukset, Swedish: Skotten i Mainila), or the Mainila incident (Russian: Майнильский инцидент, romanized: Maynilskiy intsident), was a military incident on 26 November 1939 in which the Soviet Union's Red Army shelled the Soviet border village of Mainila (Russian: Майнило, romanized: Maynilo) near Beloostrov. The Soviet Union declared that the fire originated from Finland across the nearby border and claimed to have had losses in personnel. Through that false flag operation, the Soviet Union gained a great propaganda boost and a casus belli for launching the Winter War four days later. Historians have now concluded that the shelling of Mainila was a fabrication carried out by the Soviet NKVD state security agency.
