Rogart ( ROH-gart, Scottish Gaelic: Sgìre Raoird or Raoghard, meaning "great enclosed field") is a small village in Sutherland, Highland, Scotland. The village was the home of Major Andrew MacDonald, who fought in the French and Indian War. It was originally a scattered crofting village, until the opening of the Rogart railway station at Pittentrail 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) to the southeast. A newer industrial village grew after the arrival of the railway in 1886, with the older village remaining.The village of Golspie is 9 miles (14 km) east of Rogart.

The Battle of Skibo and Strathfleet was prompted by Clan Donald's invasion of the area around Dornoch in northern Scotland in 1480. Two attacks were repulsed by the local clans of Clan Sutherland and the Murrays of Aberscross.

Loch Fleet (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Fleòid) is a sea loch on the east coast of Scotland, located between Golspie and Dornoch. It forms the estuary of the River Fleet, a small spate river that rises in the hills east of Lairg. The loch was designated a National Nature Reserve (NNR) in 1998, and is managed by a partnership between NatureScot, the Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT) and Sutherland Estates. The NNR extends to 1058 hectares, including the Loch Fleet tidal basin, sand dunes, shingle ridges and the adjacent pine woods, including Balbair Wood and Ferry Wood. The tidal basin of the loch covers over 630 ha, and forms the largest habitat on the NNR.

Rearquhar is a township, which lies in the valley of the River Evelix, 4 miles northwest from Dornoch, in Sutherland, Scottish Highlands and is in the Scottish council area of Highland.

Achavandra Muir (Scottish Gaelic: Achadh Anndra - Andrew's Field) is a hamlet in the Scottish Highlands in northeastern Scotland, about 7 kilometres from the coast. It lies just off the A9 between Dornoch and Loch Fleet. The land in the area is dominated by bog and crofting.Historically, Achavandra Muir was occupied by Father John Sutherland, who died on 23 January 1910. In 1812 there were a reported twenty settlers in Achavandra Muir.

Evelix or Evelick (Scottish Gaelic: Èibhleag) is a village near Dornoch in south east Sutherland, Scotland. The River Evelix runs through it. Evelix is in the Scottish council area of Highland. There is a petrol station with Tall Pines restaurant in Evelix, on A9. Households are scattered around and do not form a perceivable village.

Camore (Scottish Gaelic: An Cadha Mòr) is a small hamlet, located 0.5 mile directly southeast of Evelix, and 1.5 miles west of Dornoch, in south east Sutherland, Scottish Highlands and is in the Scottish council area of Highland. The name comes from the Gaelic cadha mòr meaning "big path" or "big passage". The hamlet is purely residential.
