Appleton is an unincorporated community in Cecil County, Maryland, United States. Appleton is located at the intersection of Maryland Route 273 and Appleton Road, north of Elkton and east of Fair Hill.

Fair Hill Training Center is a racehorse training center based in Fair Hill, Maryland. It was owned by William du Pont, Jr. of the well-known Du Pont family, who bought the land in 1926. Dupont invested a substantial amount of money to make the property a leading breeding and training farm for his Thoroughbred racehorses. The State of Maryland purchased Fair Hill in 1974, converting the then 5,700-acre (23 km2) property into an equine training complex and a natural resource center. There are 17 privately owned barns, with more than 450 stalls. Each barn has its own set of turn out paddocks and porta pens. Barns here at Fair Hill were individually named after some of the du Pont thoroughbred champions such as Parlo, Chevation and Fairy Chant. There are two race tracks: a mile dirt track and a 7/8-mile track with an artificial surface (Tapeta). The campus also includes 3,000 acres (12 km²) of grasslands and woods which can be used by trainers who wish to take their horses out on trails.

Venue renovations began in 2018, which were assisted by the Maryland Stadium Authority and have since been completed. Fair Hill is also home to the Cecil County Fair.

Rock United Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at Elkton, Cecil County, Maryland. It is a rectangular building of uncoursed rubble stone construction, three bays wide by three deep, with a steeply pitched slate-clad gable roof. It was originally constructed in 1761, and remodeled to its current Victorian Gothic influenced appearance in 1872 and 1900. Also on the property is a 1+1⁄2-story, stone Session House originally constructed in 1762 and a modern white stucco Church House constructed in 1953. The church is significant due to its association with the early Scotch-Irish immigrants to Maryland.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Lunn's Tavern, also known as The Wilkins Property, is a historic inn and tavern located in London Britain Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. It has three sections. The original section was built about 1760, and is a two-story, stone structure with a gambrel roof. Part of the original section was altered when the brick addition was made in 1830. The modifications included adding stucco to the stone exterior walls and modifying the roof to the gable style. The 1830 brick addition has a wooden porch structure. It was the site of the writing of a famous letter from Thomas McKean to George Read on September 26, 1777, detailing the situation in Delaware and his actions upon assuming the presidency of the State of Delaware.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Delaware–Maryland–Pennsylvania Tri-State Point is the meeting of the northwestern corner of Delaware, the northeastern corner of Maryland, and the southern edge of Pennsylvania. A wooden marker was placed in 1765, by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon, and was replaced with a stone marker in 1849. A trail to the marker was made in 2014–2015.
