The Old Mill District is a historic area formerly occupied by two lumber mills in Bend, Oregon. Encompassing approximately 270 acres (110 ha) along the Deschutes River, the Old Mill District is now a mixed-use area known for its shops, galleries and restaurants. It draws thousands of visitors and employs more than 2,500 people. The area underwent significant development since the mid-1990s, when the land was purchased by developer Bill Smith, president of William Smith Properties. He maintained elements of the original buildings, including the area's three signature smokestacks. There are nine historically renovated buildings on property. The oldest is the Little Red Shed used to store fire equipment and is now the home to the art studio and gallery of Anna Amejko. Notable additions include the Hayden Homes Amphitheater and the nation's first 12-station Fly Casting Course.William Smith Properties and its partners also restored 14,000 lineal feet of the river area, which had been off limits to the public for close to 80 years. The banks were blown out to accommodate the floating logs and the river itself was mired with debris. The restored area is now a habitat for native species, such as fish, mink, otters and birds.It was work like this that led the Old Mill District to become the only project in the Western half of the United States to receive a national 2017 Excellence on the Waterfront Award from the Waterfront Center, become a finalist for the 2016 Urban Land Institute's Global Awards for Excellence and garnered Bill Smith, and William Smith Properties, a Lifetime Achievement Award in the 2014 Building a Better Central Oregon Awards.The Old Mill District is located southwest of downtown, roughly between Colorado Avenue on the west, Bond Street on the east and north and Reed Market to the south.

The Hayden Homes Amphitheater is an outdoor amphitheater built in the historic Old Mill District in Bend, Oregon. The amphitheater's name-in-title sponsor is Hayden Homes, a Central Oregon home builder. The venue was formerly named the Les Schwab Amphitheater, after a Central Oregon businessman. Opened in 2002, the venue accommodates approximately 8,000 people for concerts and other events in a casual outdoor setting. On the west bank of the Deschutes River, it sits at an elevation of 3,600 feet (1,100 metres) above sea level.

The Oregon Natural Desert Association (ONDA) is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to protect, defend, and restore the wild lands of eastern Oregon. It was founded in 1987.

Yakaya is an outdoor 2010 sculpture by Troy Pillow, installed in Riverbend Park, along Columbia Street, in Bend, Oregon, United States. The painted stainless steel artwork is constructed from nine kayaks and measures 30 feet (9.1 m) x 30 feet (9.1 m) x 30 feet (9.1 m).

Deschutes Brewery is a craft brewery in the northwest United States, located in Bend, Oregon. Founded in 1988 as a brew pub, it is known for such products as Black Butte Porter and Mirror Pond Pale Ale. In 2008, the brewery opened a second pub in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon. Deschutes Brewery ships beer to 28 states, the District of Columbia, and around the world from its main brewing facility. The brewery is named after the Deschutes River, which runs through Oregon. As of 2016, Deschutes was the eighth-largest craft brewery and fifteenth-largest overall brewery in the U.S., producing 250,000 US beer barrels (290,000 hL) in 2012.

McKay Park is a 3.9-acre (1.6 ha) park in Bend, Oregon, in the United States. Named after Clyde McKay, the park opened in May 2000.

The Simpson E. Jones House, located in Bend, Oregon, is a house listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Peter Byberg House, located in Bend, Oregon, is an American Craftsman style house that was erected in 1916. It was ordered as a kit from the Sears & Roebuck Company. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Grief Recovery Institute is an organization specializing in helping people with grief issues using The Grief Recovery Method. The organization is headquartered in Bend, Oregon with locations in England, Sweden, Australia, Mexico, and Hungary. Its mission focuses on disseminating information about grief and the possibility of recovery from the impact of death, divorce, and other significant emotional losses. Members of the Institute have appeared on CNN and other broadcast networks to help people understand emotional responses to national and international grief events – notably, in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks in 2001; when Andrea Yates drowned her five children; and during the Ronald Reagan memorial week. They have also conducted hundreds of print and radio interviews relative to chronicling events like the death of Princess Diana and other celebrities; plane crashes; and natural disasters.The organization donated 1500 copies of James and Friedman’s books, The Grief Recovery Handbook and When Children Grieve, to the families directly affected by the 9/11 attacks, and donated 2500 copies of When Children Grieve to the school districts in Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana that took in thousands of children displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.The Institute also trains and certifies mental and medical health professionals, funeral directors, clergy, and others in the application of the principles and actions of The Grief Recovery Method to help grieving people. After completing the training, Grief Recovery Specialists are able to take groups of individuals through an 8-week outreach program. More than 500,000 people have completed the program.

Simpson Pavilion, or Bend Simpson Pavilion, is a sports pavilion in Bend, Oregon, United States. Plans were unveiled in late 2013, and construction began in late 2014. The project includes a $11.3 million ice rink, and courts for basketball, tennis, and volleyball, among other sports.
