Southern Hills Country Club is a private golf and country club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The 1977 U.S. Open was the 77th U.S. Open, held June 16–19 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Hubert Green won the first of his two major titles, one stroke ahead of runner-up Lou Graham, the 1975 champion.Green began the final round with the lead, but 11 players were within three shots. Graham made a charge on the back nine, collecting birdies at 12, 14, 15, and 16 en route to a 68 (−2) and a 279 (−1) total. With four holes to play, Green needed to play even-par to win the championship. As he stepped off the 14th green, however, he was approached by tournament officials and a lieutenant with the Tulsa police, who told him that they had received a phone call threatening to assassinate Green while he played the 15th hole. Green decided to play on, then proceeded to hit his drive into a tree—which probably saved it from going out of bounds. He managed to hit his approach to 35 feet (11 m) and two-putt for par without incident. Green birdied the 16th and took a two-stroke lead to the 18th tee. Although he struggled on the hole, he managed to make a four-footer for bogey and the victory.This year marked the final U.S. Open appearance by Sam Snead, two-time champion Julius Boros, and Tommy Bolt, who had won the 1958 Open at Southern Hills. All three received exemptions by the USGA, and all three missed the cut. This was the first time that the television broadcast of the U.S. Open covered all 18 holes of the final round.It was the third major championship at Southern Hills; it previously hosted the U.S. Open in 1958 and the PGA Championship in 1970. The U.S. Open returned in 2001 and the PGA Championship in 1982, 1994, 2007, and 2022.

The 1982 PGA Championship was the 64th PGA Championship, held August 5–8 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Raymond Floyd won his second PGA Championship, three strokes ahead of runner-up Lanny Wadkins, the 1977 champion. A few weeks shy of age 40, Floyd shot an opening round 63 (−7) and led wire-to-wire to secure the third of his four major titles. He won his first PGA Championship thirteen years earlier, in 1969.Temperatures exceeded 100 °F (38 °C) during the first two rounds and after a third round 68 (−2), Floyd was at 200 (−10), five shots ahead of Greg Norman and Jay Haas. At the end of a lackluster final round, Floyd had an opportunity to break the PGA's 72-hole record of 271, set 18 years earlier by Bobby Nichols in 1964, but double-bogeyed the final hole. The record lasted a dozen more years, until broken by Nick Price in 1994. The winner's share of $65,000 was the last in five figures at the PGA Championship. It rose over 50% to $100,000 the following year and to $125,000 in 1984, nearly doubling in just two years. This was the fourth major for Southern Hills, which previously hosted the PGA Championship in 1970 and the U.S. Open in 1958 and 1977. The PGA Championship returned in 1994 and 2007 and the U.S. Open in 2001. Floyd's win marked the tenth and most recent time that all four major championships were won by Americans in a calendar year.

The 1958 U.S. Open was the 58th U.S. Open, held June 12–14 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Amid oppressive heat and high winds that created difficult scoring conditions, native Oklahoman Tommy Bolt won his only major championship, four strokes ahead of Gary Player. It was Player's debut in the U.S. Open at age 22.Bolt owned the 36-hole lead at 142 (+2), a stroke ahead of Player. After a third round 69 on Saturday morning, Bolt was at 211 (+1) and three strokes ahead of Gene Littler, who carded a 67 for 214 (+4). Littler fell back in the final round in the afternoon, shooting a 76 to finish in fourth place. Bolt ran away from the field with a final round 72 for 283 (+3), four ahead of Player. Bolt was the only player not to record a round of 75 or over during the championship. Ben Hogan, in search of his fifth U.S. Open title, was hampered by an injured left wrist and finished eleven strokes back in a tie for tenth. Eighteen-year-old Jack Nicklaus, in his second U.S. Open, made his first cut and finished in 41st place. Sam Snead missed the cut for the first time in 18 Open appearances. Two-time champion Gene Sarazen missed the cut in his final appearance, while three-time Masters champion Jimmy Demaret also played his final Open, withdrawing after the third round. It was the first of eight major championships at Southern Hills. The U.S. Open returned in 1977 and 2001 and the PGA Championship has been played at the course five times: 1970, 1982, 1994, 2007 and 2022.

The 1970 PGA Championship was the 52nd PGA Championship, played August 13–16 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dave Stockton won the first of his two PGA Championships at 279 (−1), two strokes ahead of runners-up Bob Murphy and Arnold Palmer.It was Palmer's third runner-up finish at the only major he never won, and was his last time in contention in the final round of a PGA Championship. Stockton won his second PGA Championship six years later in 1976. The third round was played in 101 °F (38 °C) heat, and Stockton led by three strokes after 54 holes at 206 (−4). Defending champion Raymond Floyd carded a 65 (−5) on Saturday and was in second place at 209 (−1) entering the final round, and Palmer was alone in third place at 211 (+1).It was the second major championship at Southern Hills, which hosted the U.S. Open in 1958. It later hosted the U.S. Open in 1977 and 2001 and the PGA Championship in 1982, 1994, 2007, and 2022.

The 2007 PGA Championship was the 89th PGA Championship, played August 9–12 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Defending champion Tiger Woods won his fourth PGA Championship and 13th major title, two strokes ahead of runner-up Woody Austin.

The 2001 United States Open Championship was the 101st U.S. Open, held June 14–18 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The U.S. Open returned to Southern Hills for the first time since 1977. Retief Goosen won the first of his two U.S. Open titles in an 18-hole Monday playoff, two strokes ahead of runner-up Mark Brooks. The tournament was also notable for ending defending champion Tiger Woods' run of four consecutive major championship wins, the "Tiger Slam;" he finished seven strokes back in a tie for twelfth. Woods reclaimed the U.S. Open title the following year, and won the PGA Championship at Southern Hills in 2007. The total purse was $5 million with a winner's share of $900,000. At the end of the final round on Sunday, Brooks three-putted his way out of the lead on the 72nd hole. In the final pairing, co-leaders Goosen and Stewart Cink both had approach shots from the 18th fairway. Cink missed the green long and then three-putted from fifteen feet (4.5 m) to double bogey. Goosen had ten feet (3 m) for birdie, but also three-putted to tie Brooks, forcing the next-day playoff.

The 1994 PGA Championship was the 76th PGA Championship, held August 11–14 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Nick Price led wire-to-wire (he shared the first round lead and then led on his own after every other round) and won his third and final major title, six strokes ahead of runner-up Corey Pavin. It was Price's second consecutive major and second PGA Championship in three years. Following this win, he moved to the top of the Official World Golf Ranking.Price became the first to win the Open Championship and PGA Championship in the same year in seven decades, last by Walter Hagen in 1924. Greg Norman had just missed the previous year, losing in a playoff; it was later accomplished by Tiger Woods in 2000 and 2006, Pádraig Harrington in 2008, and Rory McIlroy in 2014. Price's 269 was a record for the event, passing the 271 of Bobby Nichols set thirty years earlier in 1964. It lasted just a year, lowered to 267 in 1995 at Riviera by Steve Elkington and Colin Montgomerie. (It was further lowered in 2001 by David Toms' 265.) Price's 6-stroke win was the largest margin of victory at a major championship between Jack Nicklaus' 7-stroke victory at the 1980 PGA Championship and Tiger Woods' 12-stroke victory at the 1997 Masters Tournament. Price later described it as the best he'd ever played.This was the fifth major held at Southern Hills; it previously hosted the PGA Championship in 1970 and 1982 and the U.S. Open in 1958 and 1977. It later hosted the U.S. Open in 2001 and the PGA Championship in 2007 and 2022.

The Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art (SMMJA) in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was founded in 1966 as the Gershon & Rebecca Fenster Museum of Jewish Art. From its inception until 1998, Tulsa's Congregation B'nai Emunah Synagogue housed the museum. Sherwin Miller was the museum's first curator. In 2000, the museum was renamed the Sherwin Miller Museum, and it moved to its present location at 2021 E 71st St in Tulsa, OK 74136 on the Zarrow Campus of the Jewish Federation of Tulsa in November 2004. The Sherwin Miller Museum, which houses the largest collection of Jewish art in the Southwestern United States, received accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums in 2013.

Victory Christian School is a private Christian school located in Tulsa, Oklahoma at 7700 South Lewis. The school is co-ed and a Subsidiary program of Victory Christian Center, Inc., a non-denominational Christian church in Tulsa.

Oral Roberts University (ORU) is a private evangelical university in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Founded in 1963, the university is named after its founder, Charismatic Christian preacher Oral Roberts. Sitting on a 385-acre (1.56 km2) campus, ORU offers over 70 undergraduate degree programs along with 20 graduate programs across six colleges. ORU is classified among "Master's Colleges & Universities: Medium Programs". The university enrolls approximately 5,000 students.

The Prayer Tower is a late Googie design-influenced tower located on the campus of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 200 ft (60.9 m) glass and steel structure, designed by Tulsa architect Frank Wallace, opened in 1967. An enclosed observation deck gives a 360° view of the surrounding area and enables a self-guided visual tour of the ORU campus. The landscaped Ralph L. Reece Memorial Gardens surround the tower base. The tower is a popular local tourist attraction.
