Marlborough Luas stop

Marlborough Street is a street in the city centre of Dublin, Ireland.

Abbey Street (Irish: Sráid na Mainistreach) is a stop on the Luas light-rail tram system in Dublin, Ireland. It opened in 2004 as a stop on the Red Line. The Red Line runs east to west along Abbey Street through the city centre, and the Abbey Street stop is located between O'Connell Street and Marlborough Street, on two lanes reserved for trams. The stop allows access to the O'Connell Street shopping district, the Spire of Dublin and the Abbey Theatre. It has two edge platforms: the westbound platform is integrated into the pavement, and the eastbound platform is an island between the tracks and the single lane used by road traffic. When the Luas was first opened, the two lines did not connect, and Abbey Street was the closest point on the Red line to St. Stephen's Green, the terminus of the Green Line, over a kilometre's walk away. In 2017, Luas Cross City - a construction project which extended the Green Line into north Dubin - was completed, and Abbey Street now forms part of a direct interchange between the two lines. The Green Line travels north through the city centre in a one-way system, with the two tracks crossing the red line on either side of the Abbey Street stop. Located in adjacent streets are O'Connell - GPO for trams traveling north, and Marlborough for trams traveling south. These three stops effectively form one four-platform interchange, and signs on the platforms direct passengers between the lines. The stop also connects with a great number of Dublin Bus routes.

The Abbey Theatre School or the Abbey School of Acting, was a drama school associated with the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, Ireland. Established in 1911 by W. B. Yeats,: 59  it was developed by Lady Gregory to continue performances in Dublin while the main cast of the theatre was overseas, usually in America.The school's first director was the theatre director Nugent Monck, whom Yeats asked to begin the school.: 59  The first play performed by the school was The Countess Cathleen, written by Yeats. The school was the primary place in Ireland where amateur actors could receive training for an acting career before breaking into paid work. In the beginning, the school's plays were performed in the Abbey Theatre, but in 1927 the venue for them became the newly constructed Peacock Theatre, located on the first floor of the Abbey Theatre's building.: 138 Many well-known Irish actors and directors attended or taught at the school. Among them were Lennox Robinson,: 513 : 49  Stephen Rea, and Frank Fay.: 181 There were gaps in the operation of the school, sometimes long ones, and according to Tomás MacAnna it was revived many times.: 278, 284, 286  One brief period of activity was in the years 1967–1970, when Frank Dermody attempted to revive it, but it was closed after a number of complaints.: 236 One of the last actors to graduate from the school was Colm Meaney.

The Abbey Theatre (Irish: Amharclann na Mainistreach), also known as the National Theatre of Ireland (Irish: Amharclann Náisiúnta na hÉireann), in Dublin, Ireland, is one of the country's leading cultural institutions. First opening to the public on 27 December 1904, and moved from its original building after a fire in 1951, it has remained active to the present day. The Abbey was the first state-subsidized theatre in the English-speaking world; from 1925 onwards it received an annual subsidy from the Irish Free State. Since July 1966, the Abbey has been located at 26 Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1. In its early years, the theatre was closely associated with the writers of the Irish Literary Revival, many of whom were involved in its founding and most of whom had plays staged there. The Abbey served as a nursery for many of leading Irish playwrights, including William Butler Yeats, Lady Gregory, Seán O'Casey and John Millington Synge, as well as leading actors. In addition, through its extensive programme of touring abroad and its high visibility to foreign, particularly American, audiences, it has become an important part of the Irish cultural brand.

Wynn's Hotel is a historic hotel located on Abbey Street in Dublin, Ireland which is connected to the city's main thoroughfare, O'Connell Street. The hotel, which opened in 1845, played a vital role leading up to the 1916 Easter Rising and other significant Irish events. The now three star hotel is a tourist attraction in Dublin city, and is known for its pristine condition after being reconstructed a decade after its destruction.

The Rosie Hackett Bridge (Irish: Droichead Róise Haicéid) is a road and tram bridge in Dublin, Ireland, which opened on 20 May 2014. Spanning the River Liffey and joining Marlborough Street to Hawkins Street, it is used solely by public transport, taxis, cyclists and pedestrians. It is 26 metres wide and 48 metres long, and is a single span, smooth concrete structure, with the underside of the bridge designed to be as high above the water as possible so that river traffic is not impeded. It was built to carry the extended Luas Green line, and was budgeted at €15 million. It is named for trade unionist Rosie Hackett.

Eden Quay (Irish: Cé Éidin) is one of the Dublin quays on the northern bank of the River Liffey in Dublin. The quay runs the bank between O'Connell Bridge and Butt Bridge. The quay is bisected by Marlborough Street and Rosie Hackett Bridge, roughly halfway along its length. The quay is also designated R105 as part of the Irish regional roads convention. Liberty Hall dominates the eastern end of the quay, while at the opposite end is the Irish Nationwide building, both of which were rebuilt following their destruction by the Royal Navy during the 1916 Easter Rising. Businesses on the quay include a number of hotels, bars, restaurants, newsagents, a music venue ('The Wiley Fox'), and a comedy club ('The Laughter Lounge') which was built on the site of a former cinema. The quay is a major terminus for Dublin Bus services to the north east of the city and to the south, with more than 20 routes starting at (or transiting through) the quay. Routes include 14, 15, 27, 27a, 27b, 61 and 151The Liffey Boardwalk, a pedestrian walkway which overhangs several of the Liffey's quays, covers the length of Eden Quay.

Tyrone House is a Georgian mansion townhouse built for Marcus Beresford, 1st Earl of Tyrone in 1740. It was constructed on lands bordering Marlborough Street (formerly Tyrone Street) in what was to become a fashionable part of North Dublin city off Sackville Street. It was the first substantial aristocratic house built on the North side of Dublin city.The house was situated close to Marlborough Bowling Green and Pleasure Gardens, which was then a fashionable enclave where the wealthy elite could socialize until it fell out of favour following the death of Lord Delvin in a duel in 1761.

North Earl Street (Irish: Sráid an Iarla Thuaidh) is a short stretch of city-centre street located on Dublin's Northside and formerly a major shopping area. It runs from Marlborough Street in the west to O'Connell Street beside the Spire.

Beresford Place is a street in Dublin, Ireland originally laid out as a crescent surrounding The Custom House in 1792.

Talbot Mall (formerly known as Irish Life Mall and later Irish Life Shopping Mall prior to a 2013 rebranding) is a small shopping arcade located between Talbot Street, Northumberland Square, and Abbey Street in Dublin, Ireland. Operating for some years with only a few trading units, it today primarily forms a public passage between Talbot and Abbey Streets.

The Imperial Hotel was a hotel in Dublin's principal thoroughfare, Sackville Street, until it was destroyed during the Easter Rising of 1916. The building comprised Clerys department store on the lower floors and the Imperial Hotel on upper floors situated opposite the General Post Office and Nelson's Pillar.
