Carbondale, in Orange County, California, is a historical coal mining town in Santiago Canyon, where Santiago Creek had its confluence with Silverado Creek in Silverado, California. It had a post office from May 11, 1881, to January 29, 1884, when it was closed and mail sent to the Santa Ana post office.Coal was discovered near Santiago Creek in 1878. A coal mine was established there, called the Santa Clara. In 1881, the Southern Pacific took over the Santa Clara Coal Mine, and a mining camp, Carbondale, with a post office was established on the flat near the creek. Besides the post office, it had a hotel, saloons, a store, and shacks for the miners. Carbondale became the post office for Silverado after its post office was closed on January 22, 1883. When the coal was depleted, the coal mine was closed down in 1884. Carbondale's post office closed, and its buildings and equipment were removed, leaving few other remains.

Black Star Canyon is a remote mountain canyon in the Santa Ana Mountains, located in eastern Orange County, California. It is a watershed of the Santa Ana River. Black Star Canyon is a popular destination for mountain bikers as well as hikers due to its wild scenery. The California Historical Landmark associated with the canyon refers to the village of Puhú.

Williams Canyon is a census-designated place (CDP) in the canyon of the same name in Orange County, California, United States. It is located in eastern Orange County on the western side of the Santa Ana Mountains, south of Silverado and north of Modjeska. Most of the community is within Cleveland National Forest. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

KBRT (740 AM, known on-air as K-BRITE) is a Southern Californian radio station. It airs a Christian talk and teaching radio format and is owned by Crawford Broadcasting. But it is a Class D station broadcasting on the Canadian clear-channel frequency of 740 AM. So to avoid interference with Class A station CFZM Toronto and Class B station KCBS San Francisco, at night KBRT greatly reduces power to 190 watts. It uses a directional antenna with a four-tower array. The transmitter is on Black Star Canyon Road in Santa Ana. KBRT is licensed by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to broadcast in the HD Radio hybrid format. Programming is also heard on 13-watt FM translator K274CI at 100.7 MHz in Corona.

Silverado Canyon is a roughly 2,500-foot-deep (760 m) gorge in the Santa Ana Mountains, in the U.S. state of California. The small stream it is associated with, Silverado Creek, rises on the north slope of Modjeska Peak at the elevation of 3,980 feet (1,210 m) and flows north and west, past the town of Silverado to join Santiago Creek at 942 feet (287 m) after a journey of just under 5 miles (8.0 km). The main branch, Ladd Canyon, is just over 3 miles (4.8 km) long. Its stream arises on the east flank of Pleasants Peak at about 3,590 feet (1,090 m) and flows southwest into the main stem at about 1,178 feet (359 m) near Silverado. They are part of the Santa Ana River watershed. A hiking trail/fire road runs the entire length of the canyon.

Modjeska Canyon is an unincorporated community on the western slope of the Santa Ana Mountains in eastern Orange County, California. It is a suburban community of several hundred residents, with a small park and a volunteer fire station. The parties are usually held in the Modjeska Community Center and the Fire Station. They also hold events for non-residents to come and enjoy, such as an arts and crafts fair held in early spring at the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary.

Flores Peak is a mountain peak, overlooking the confluence Harding Canyon and Modjeska Canyon, within the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary in Orange County, California. It rises to an elevation of 1834 feet / 559 meters. It is named for Juan Flores of the Flores Daniel Gang.

Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit nature reserve on the Santa Ana Mountains in Orange County, California, in the United States. It is located near the end of Modjeska Canyon, at the foot of Modjeska Peak, and adjacent to the Cleveland National Forest. The Sanctuary is owned and operated by the Environmental Nature Center (ENC). The nearest community is the city of Lake Forest. The Sanctuary serves as a research center for California State University, Fullerton students, faculty and others.
