The Sydenham River is a river in Grey County in southern Ontario. The river flows north from a source near Williamsford (Williams Lake), drops over the Niagara Escarpment at Inglis Falls and empties into Owen Sound harbour on Georgian Bay. It was named after Lord Sydenham, governor of Canada from 1839 to 1841. The river was formed from pre-glacial river along the Niagara Escarpment.The river is obstructed by Mill Dam. At this dam is a fish ladder that allows Chinook Salmon and Rainbow Trout to complete their spawning migrations in this river.

CFOS is an AM radio station broadcasting from Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. The format is oldies, classic adult contemporary music, and news (plus an adult standards/nostalgic music show, "Remember When", several nights a week from 8-11 p.m.), and is branded as 560 CFOS. The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library is a public library in Owen Sound, Ontario which serves the residents and taxpayers of the City of Owen Sound, the Township of Chatsworth, the Township of Georgian Bluffs and the Municipality of Meaford (former Sydenham Township portion). These municipalities provide financial support through taxation. Owen Sound’s Carnegie library, which is now protected under the Ontario Heritage Act, is the only one with a vaulted ceiling.

Owen Sound (2021 Census population 21,612) is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. The county seat of Grey County, it is located at the mouths of the Pottawatomi and Sydenham Rivers on an inlet of Georgian Bay. The primary tourist attractions are the many waterfalls within a short drive of the town.

The Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre contains the J.D. McArthur Arena, a 4,300-seat multi-purpose arena in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. The facility was opened in 1983 on the east shore of Georgian Bay (hence its name) and replaced the city's old downtown arena. Known locally as "Bayshore Arena," it is home to the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League, the Owen Sound Woodsmen of the OLA Senior B Lacrosse League and the Owen Sound Rams of the OLA Junior B Lacrosse League and was the home of the Owen Sound Greys formerly of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. The arena is dedicated to the memory of local hockey hero and Hockey Hall of Famer Harry Lumley. The community centre was substantially renovated from 2000 to 2002, adding private boxes, more seating and a new front entrance. The complex had also previously been renamed the "Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre" in honour of Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Harry Lumley, who was born and raised in Owen Sound and began his hockey career there. He retired to his hometown and lived there until his death in 1998. Joseph Donald "J.D." McArthur was a longtime local sportsman and businessman who played for, coached and sponsored sports teams in Owen Sound for many years. A story published in the city's newspaper at the time of his death in 2002 said he also served as the city's arena commissioner for 26 years and was instrumental in the construction of the Bayshore. The Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1981 and is also housed in the community centre. Harry Lumley and J.D. McArthur are among the many individuals and teams who have been enshrined there.

Grey Bruce Health Services is a hospital network in Grey and Bruce counties in Ontario, Canada. It operates six hospitals sites, including the 400-bed Owen Sound Regional Hospital. The other five hospitals are Lion's Head Hospital, Markdale Hospital, Meaford Hospital, Southampton Hospital and Wiarton Hospital.As of 2022, the Chief Executive Officer was Gary Sims.

Maxwell Creek is a stream in the municipality of Georgian Bluffs, Grey County in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is in geographic Derby Township, is part of the Great Lakes Basin and is a right tributary of the Pottawatomi River.The creek begins at the confluence of two unnamed streams at an elevation of 256 metres (840 ft), southeast of the settlement of Squire. It flows north, drops over the Niagara Escarpment, passes under Ontario Highway 21, and reaches its mouth at the Pottawatomi River at an elevation of 207 metres (679 ft), west of Owen Sound and east of the settlement of Springmount. The Pottawatomi River flows to Georgian Bay on Lake Huron.

One of three waterfalls that surround the city of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, Inglis Falls is the largest and most impressive. It is also the most visited.Situated in the heart of the 200-hectare Inglis Falls Conservation Area, Inglis Falls is an 18-metre-high (59 ft) cascade, created by the Sydenham River meeting the edge of the Niagara Escarpment. Swimming is prohibited in the entire area but it is possible to hike down to the base of the waterfall. The Conservation Area includes 7.42 km of hiking and mountain bike trails.The Area has 20 species of ferns, a variety of birds and geological potholes. In the late fall, salmon arrive at the river to spawn.The property has been owned by the North Grey Region Conservation Authority, now the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority, since 1960.

Grey Roots Museum and Archives began as a County museum in 1955. Since then it has taken a large role in preserving the history and promoting the heritage of Grey County. The current facility is located just south of Owen Sound on Grey Road 18. It was opened in 2004, constructed from materials that characterize the development of the county. The building houses the County museum, archives, and tourism offices. There is also Moreston Heritage Village adjacent to the main building, with volunteers and buildings portraying the development of Grey County from the 1850s to the 1920s.
