Battle of Peachtree Creek

Tanyard Creek Park is a 14.5-acre (5.9 ha) park in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. It is located along Tanyard Creek between Collier Road on the north and BeltLine rail corridor to the south. The neighborhood of Collier Hills borders it on the west and Collier Hills North on the east. A 1-mile (1.6 km)-long BeltLine trail runs through the park - not along the BeltLine rail corridor itself but perpendicular to it. The trail begins at the west end of Colonial Homes neighborhood, proceeds west along the south end of Bobby Jones Golf Course, Louise G. Howard Park, under Collier Road and through Tanyard Creek Park, under a trestle bridge (active CSX rail line), connecting to both Ardmore Park in the Ardmore neighborhood and into the Tanyard Creek Urban Forest. The trail, and urban forest, terminates at Semel Circle, a new infill development area at the back of Brookwood neighborhood. The trail opened in April 2010.The Civil War Battle of Peachtree Creek took place in and around the park.

Collier Hills is a residential neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia. The area gets its name from the family whose homestead was broadly located in the southwest corner of the intersection of Peachtree St. and Collier Rd. Andrew Jackson Collier, a member of this family and early pioneer of the area, operated an antebellum grist mill off Tanyard Creek, near Collier Rd.

Atlanta Memorial Park is a public park in the Buckhead district of Atlanta, Georgia. The approximately 200-acre (81 ha) park lies adjacent to Peachtree Creek, a tributary of the Chattahoochee River. The park is a memorial to those who died in the Battle of Peachtree Creek, which took place on parts of this park and nearby Tanyard Creek Park.

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) is a contemporary art museum located in Atlanta, Georgia. The museum collects and archives contemporary works by Georgia artists. MOCA GA uses its exhibition schedule to increase its permanent collection. The Education/Resource Center houses the museum's historical archive collection.

Ardmore, sometimes called "Ardmore Park" for the city park of the same name within the neighborhood, is a neighborhood in the extreme south Buckhead area of Atlanta, between Peachtree Road, on the east, railroad tracks and the Atlanta BeltLine on the west, Collier Road to the north and Brookwood to the south. Though distinct from Brookwood and Collier Hills, the neighborhoods are often linked as they share a border and location along Collier Road and Peachtree Street/Road just north of Midtown.

The Apartments at 22–24 Collier Road were built in 1929 by developers J.W. Jenkins and J.G. Crockett of the Anjaco Holding Corporation. The apartments are examples of Mediterranean Revival architecture, with classical details such as Doric columns and a central entrance.

The Bluffton University bus crash was an automobile crash that occurred during the early morning hours of March 2, 2007, on Interstate 75 in Atlanta, Georgia. A chartered motorcoach was carrying 33 members of the Bluffton University baseball team from Bluffton, Ohio, on their way to play Eastern Mennonite University during spring break in Sarasota, Florida. The group planned to travel without an overnight stop on the approximately 900-mile, 18-hour trip. The trip went without incident from Bluffton south to a motel in Adairsville, Georgia, at which time a relief driver began operating the bus for the second half of the trip. About 5:38 am EST, while operating the motorcoach southbound in a left-hand HOV lane of I-75 in the Atlanta metropolitan area, the driver accidentally entered a left exit ramp, which ended abruptly at an elevated T-junction marked by a stop sign. When it reached the top of the ramp and the stop sign, the bus was traveling at highway speed. The driver lost control of the bus, which slid sideways into a concrete bridge wall and chain-link security fence, then fell 19 feet, landing on its left side across the interstate highway below. Twenty-nine passengers survived the crash, while seven occupants were killed. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) dispatched a team to the scene and began an investigation. Local and state police and officials of the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) also investigated. In its final report, the NTSB determined that the probable cause was "the motorcoach driver's mistaking the HOV-only left exit ramp to Northside Drive for the southbound Interstate 75 HOV through lane." A contributing factor to the crash was "failure of the Georgia Department of Transportation to install adequate traffic control devices to identify the separation and divergence of the Northside Drive HOV-only left exit ramp from the southbound Interstate 75 HOV through lane." The NTSB further determined that contributing to the severity of the crash was "the motorcoach's lack of an adequate occupant protection system."

Villa Clare was a house in Atlanta, Georgia located on 2020 Peachtree Road. It was completed in 1916,: 30  and was designed by the architect Edward Emmett Dougherty.: 30  J.J. Haverty, who hired Dougherty to design the home for himself, named it after County Clare, Ireland, where his wife and father were from. Haverty closed up the house in 1918 when his wife died, but later reopened it after he became interested in art collecting. Haverty collected many paintings in Villa Clare before his death in 1939, and many of these were later donated to the High Museum of Art.: 84  The former location of Villa Clare is now the site of the Shepherd Spinal Center.

The Apartments at 2 Collier Road were built by developer Henry M. Rice in 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. The apartments were built on lands formerly belonging to George Washington Collier. The Colonial Revival style buildings are of the "big house" style, giving the impression of a single large residence rather than an apartment building.

Atlanta Technology Center is an office park in Atlanta, Georgia. The 19-acre (7.7 ha) complex is located alongside Northside Drive and the old Atlanta railway, less than 1 mile (1.6 km) from Atlantic Station. The complex is near Interstate 75 and is 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Georgia Tech. It consists of four buildings, with a total of 197,357 square feet (18,335.1 m2) of office space. It is owned by the Georgia Institute of Technology. Notable occupants include The Atlanta Opera, GE Healthcare, Golin Harris, Kool Smiles, Grady Memorial Hospital, and Otis Elevator.

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is a 643 bed, non-profit hospital located at 1968 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, Georgia.

Metro Atlanta, designated by the United States Office of Management and Budget as the Atlanta–Sandy Springs–Alpharetta, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area, is the most populous metropolitan statistical area in the U.S. state of Georgia and the eighth-largest in the United States. Its economic, cultural and demographic center is Atlanta, and its total population was 6,144,050 according to the 2021 estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau. The metro area forms the core of a broader trading area, the Atlanta–Athens-Clarke–Sandy Springs Combined Statistical Area. The Combined Statistical Area spans up to 39 counties in north Georgia, and one county in Alabama, Chambers county. The Combined Statistical Area recorded in the 2020 census a population of 6,930,423. Atlanta is the second-largest metropolitan area in the Census Bureau's Southeast region, behind that of Greater Washington, D.C. It surpassed the Greater Miami area in total population in 2021.
