Bruno, Piedmont

Bergamasco is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Alessandria in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) southeast of Turin and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Alessandria. It is located between the hills of Montferrat and the Po Valley. This village is washed by the river Belbo. From 1000 to 1514, Bergamasco was owned by the Marchesi of Incisa Scapaccino. Then William IX Palaiologos, the marchese of Montferrat, caught and destroyed it. So it followed Montferrat's destiny. In 1944, during World War II, the town was part of the partisan Republic of Alto Monferrato. It was also one of the towns targeted in Operation Koblenz-Süd. Bergamasco borders the following municipalities: Bruno, Carentino, Castelnuovo Belbo, Incisa Scapaccino, and Oviglio.

Cassine (Piedmontese: Cassèine) is a town and commune of the Province of Alessandria in the Italian region Piedmont. It is located 21 kilometres (13 mi) southwest of the town of Alessandria on the left of the lower course of the Bormida in the Alto Monferrato Acquese. The town lies partly in the hills, where the ancient nucleus of the settlement formed, and partly on the plain. Its economic character is agricultural: the hills are rich in vineyards where the wines Moscato d'Asti, Barbera and Freisa are produced as well as grappa.

Acqui Terme (Italian pronunciation: [ˈakkwi ˈtɛrme]; Piedmontese: Àich [ˈɑi̯k]) is a city and comune in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont, northern Italy. It is about 35 kilometres (22 mi) south-southwest of Alessandria. It is one of the principal winemaking communes of the Italian DOCG wine Brachetto d'Acqui.The city's hot sulphur springs have been famous since this was the Roman town of Aquae Statiellae; the ancient baths are referred to by Paulus Diaconus and the chronicler Liutprand of Cremona. In 1870 Giovanni Ceruti designed a small pavilion, known as La Bollente, for the spot at the centre of the town where the waters bubble up at 75 °C (167 °F).

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Acqui (Latin: Dioecesis Aquensis) straddles the (civil) regions of Piedmont and Liguria, in northwest Italy. The ancient Roman name of the place was Aquae Statiellae, which was sometimes confused with Aquae Sentiae (Aix-en-Provence), and Aquae Augustae (Dax), where there were also bishops. Acqui had always been subordinate to the Province of Milan, down until 1817, when Pope Pius VII assigned it to the Province of Turin. As a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Turin, it falls within the ecclesiastical region of Piedmont.
