Mewata Stadium () was a multi-purpose stadium in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It was the home stadium of the Calgary Stampeders, both before and after the formation of the Canadian Football League in 1958, until they moved to McMahon Stadium for the 1960 season, where the team still plays. The land for Mewata Park was a gift from the Government of Canada. The Mewata Stadium opened in 1906, and by 1919 (if not earlier) had bleachers with a seating capacity of 10,000.The stadium was razed in 1999 and replaced with Shaw Millennium Park, including a greenspace and skateboard park.

Shaw Millennium Park is a skatepark in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on the western end of downtown Calgary, on the site of the former Mewata Stadium adjacent to Mewata Armouries. The 75,000 square feet (7,000 m2) skatepark was built in 2000, and was the largest park of its kind in Canada. The park is sponsored by Shaw Communications. The skatepark is maintained by the City of Calgary Recreation Department.It consists of a street course with ledges, flatbars, stairs and transitions, an intermediate course with rails down stairs and banks, and an advanced course with cloverleaf bowl, street course and a large fullpipe. The facility is also used to host events such as the Calgary International Reggae Festival.

Mewata Armoury (also referred to as Mewata Armouries) is a Canadian Forces reserve armoury in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Mewata ( is derived from the Cree word ᒥᔭᐋᐧᑕᒼ (miyawâtam), meaning "Oh, be joyful".The building was built between 1915 and 1918 for an original cost of CA$282,051 (equivalent to $4,487,463 in 2021). The building was designed by Thomas W. Fuller (Department of Public Works Architect) and the project was supervised locally by Calgary architect Leo Dowler. The structure was actually built by A. G. Creelman Co. of Vancouver, British Columbia. The building is at 801 11th Street SW and is still home to local Militia units, chiefly The King's Own Calgary Regiment (RCAC) and The Calgary Highlanders, but also 15 (Edmonton) Field Ambulance Detachment Calgary, the 41 Canadian Brigade Group Influence Activities Company (attached to the King's Own Calgary Regiment) and various cadet organizations.

The Centennial Planetarium was a planetarium located at 701 11 Street SW in Calgary, Alberta. Designed by Calgary architectural firm McMillan Long and Associates and opened in 1967 for the Canadian Centennial, it is one of Calgary's best examples of Brutalist architecture. As of 2019, the building housed Contemporary Calgary, a public art gallery.

Downtown West–Kerby station is a CTrain station in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is located in the free-fare zone on the 7 Avenue transit-only corridor. It is the only station in the downtown corridor that is exclusively for the Blue Line. A public preview occurred on December 8, 2012, and the station opened for revenue service on December 10, 2012.This station replaces the former centre-loading 10 Street SW platform and relocated one block to the west. Initially, the name of this new dual side-loading platform was to be just 11 Street SW. However, Calgary City Hall changed the name to its present form because of the history of the Kerby family name in this location and the proximity to the Kerby Centre (a major social services centre primarily for seniors). The only other two-platform station in downtown is the City Hall station at the eastern end of the 7 Avenue SW transit mall. As part of the Calgary Transit Seventh Avenue refurbishment project Downtown West-Kerby has been built to accommodate 4-car consists. This station serves mainly the Downtown West End community, both residential and businesses.

The Calgary Soldiers' Memorial is a war monument in Calgary, Alberta that was dedicated on April 9, 2011, the anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. The monument is dedicated to Calgary area soldiers who have given their lives in war and military service overseas. The monument is located on Memorial Drive and bears the names of 3,000 fallen soldiers from the Calgary area who died in military service.

The Downtown West End is a neighbourhood within the western portions of downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bounded to the north by the Bow River, to the east by 9th Street W, to the south by the CPR Tracks and to the west by 14th Street W. West End is a high density residential community, largely made up of condominiums and apartment buildings, with only 25 single-family detached homes remaining in the neighbourhood. Downtown Calgary was established as a neighbourhood in 1884, after the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1883. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 8 councillor, on a provincial level by Calgary-Buffalo MLA Kent Hehr, and at federal level by Calgary Centre MP Lee Richardson.

CBR-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting on 102.1 FM in Calgary, Alberta. It broadcasts the programming of the CBC Music network. CBR-FM's studios are located on Westmount Boulevard Northwest just west of downtown Calgary, while its transmitter is located at 85th Street Southwest and Old Banff Coach Road in western Calgary. CBR-FM was launched on September 29, 1975. The jazz program Tonic, hosted by Tim Tamashiro, originated from CBR-FM. It previously hosted only the weekend version until the retirement of Montreal-based weekday host Katie Malloch in 2012. As of Winter 2020, CBR-FM is the 14th-most-listened-to radio station in the Calgary market according to a PPM data report released by Numeris.

Kensington is a Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ) in Calgary, Alberta, focused around the intersection of Kensington Road and 10th St. NW, also known as the Kensington-Louise Crossing Business Association. It is located in the communities of Hillhurst and Sunnyside, immediately north of downtown and the Bow River, and is easily reached by most of the city's major access routes. The Calgary C-Train (above ground light-rail transit system) runs through the Kensington area via Sunnyside Station. The station is located along 9A Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenue N.W. Kensington is a lively area with many independent shops, restaurants and pubs. The BRZ hosts Christmas in Kensington Village in December, the Sun and Salsa Festival in July, as well as the Bizarre Bikes & Bazaar in May.

Sunalta Station Place is a three-story building constructed between 1904 and 1905 by Louis Weissgerber. The structure was originally located at 325 6th Avenue West Calgary Alberta on land purchased from Lord Strathcona. This lot is now occupied by the 41 storey First Canadian Centre which was built in 1982. Sunalta Station Place was moved in 1947 to its current location at 1639 11th Ave SW by local businessman Oscar Lindquist. This lot was previously acquired by the City on January 9, 1926 for unpaid property taxes pursuant to the Tax Recovery Act of 1922 and remained vacant until 1947. Due to the significant housing demand following World War II, the building was extensively modified and utilized as a five suite apartment building. The structure functioned as an apartment building until 1996 at which time it was purchased by Calgary geologist Philip Young. The building was subsequently upgraded and converted into offices for Columbus Energy Corporation, a junior oil and gas company owned by Young. In 2008, the structure was named Sunalta Station Place. In December 2010 the building was returned to its original use as a private residence. The building is situated within 500 metres of the new $25 Million Sunalta C-Train Station constructed to service the west leg expansion of Calgary's LRT transportation network.

Sunalta Station is a CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It serves the West segment of the Blue Line.The station is located on an elevated guideway, constructed on the south side of the CPR mainline. It is located near 16 Street SW and the communities of Sunalta, Connaught, Scarboro and Downtown West, 1.1 km West of the 7 Avenue & 9 Street SW Interlocking. Inside the station building, escalators, stairs and an elevator provide access to the mezzanine level where the pedestrian overpass connects the station to Bow Trail and the Greyhound Bus Depot. From the mezzanine level, a further two sets of escalators, stairs, and elevators provide access up to the side-loading platform. Sunalta is the first elevated station in the CTrain system and is the only station currently planned this way. An Area Redevelopment Plan for the station's surroundings was approved by City Council in March 2010.In its first year of service, Sunalta served an average of 5,640 boardings per day.

West Village, located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, south of the Bow River, west of 14 Street, and north of the West LRT line, is an inner-city area which was previously targeted by Calgary Sports and Entertainment (CSE) for major redevelopment. The plans included the building of CalgaryNEXT, a proposed $890 million sports complex.
