Albemarle County Courthouse Historic District is a historic courthouse and national historic district located at Charlottesville, Virginia. The district encompasses 22 contributing buildings and 1 contributing object (the Thomas Jonathan Jackson sculpture) centered on Court Square. The original section of the courthouse was built in 1803 in the Federal style and is now the north wing. The courthouse is a two-story, five-bay, T-shaped brick building with a Greek Revival style portico. Other notable buildings include the Levy Opera House (c. 1851), Number Nothing (c. 1820), Redland Club (c. 1832), and Eagle Tavern.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The district was incorporated into the Charlottesville and Albemarle County Courthouse Historic District in 1982.

Daedalus Books is a used bookstore based in the Downtown Mall of Charlottesville, Virginia. It was established in 1975. It contains more than 100,000 books and is a quirky institution in the city. A reviewer for The Washington Post described Daedalus as the best bookstore south of the Strand Bookstore in Greenwich Village.

Congregation Beth Israel is a Reform Jewish synagogue located at 301 East Jefferson Street in Charlottesville, Virginia, in the United States. Founded in 1882, it grew out of Charlottesville's Hebrew Benevolent Society, which was created in 1870.

Village School is a private girls middle school located on East High Street in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States. It was established in 1995 by two high school teachers; Proal Heartwell and Jamie Knorr. The school offers grades 5–8 with eighteen or nineteen students in each grade.

Heritage Film Project is a film-production and distribution studio established in Charlottesville in 2010. It was founded by Eduardo Montes-Bradley and Soledad Liendo in 2008. Heritage Film Project produces documentaries on the arts, science and the humanities with a variety of academic and institutional partners. Recent titles include Julian Bond: Reflections from the Frontlines of the Civil Rights Movement, Rita Dove: An American Poet, and White: A Season in the Life of John Borden Evans. Their lineup of documentary films includes The University of Virginia Collection, Biographies, and The Latin American Collection. Heritage Film Project documentaries are mainly distributed through Kanopy, and Alexander Street Press, also available from "Filmakers Library", Vimeo on Demand, and Amazon. Heritage Film Project also produces documentaries and photographic work on demand for organizations such as James Madison's Montpelier, UNESCO and a select number of individuals.

Charlottesville, colloquially known as C'ville, is an independent city in Virginia, United States. It is the seat of government of Albemarle County, which surrounds the city, though the two are separate legal entities. It is named after Queen Charlotte. At the 2020 census, the population of the city was 46,553. The district encompasses the previously listed Albemarle County Courthouse Historic District and includes 269 contributing buildings and 1 contributing object in the city of Charlottesville. It includes the traditional heart of the city's commercial, civic, and religious activities, with early residential development and industrial sites located along the fringe. The commercial core is located along a seven block Downtown Mall designed by Lawrence Halprin (1916-2009). Notable buildings include the Albemarle County Courthouse (1803, 1859, 1865, and 1938), Levy Opera House (c. 1851), Number Nothing (c. 1820), Redland Club (c. 1832), Eagle Tavern, United States Post Office and Courts Building (1906), Christ (Episcopal) Church (1895-1898), Beth Israel Synagogue (1882-1903), Holy Comforter Catholic Church (1925), First Methodist Church (1924), McIntire Public Library (1919-1922), and Virginia National Bank (1916). Also located in the district are the separately listed Abell-Gleason House, William H. McGuffey Primary School, Thomas Jonathan Jackson sculpture, Robert Edward Lee sculpture, and Marshall-Rucker-Smith House.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Paramount Theater in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States, was designed by Rapp and Rapp and opened in 1931 as a movie theater. The Paramount continued showing movies until it closed in 1974. In 1990, a group of community members purchased the theater, formed a non-profit corporation, and began raising funds for its restoration and expansion. In late 2004, the Paramount re-opened after an $18 million renovation. It is operated by a non-profit organization and is a performing arts venue. Beginning in 2009, the theater has played host to performances by the Charlottesville Opera.

Carter–Gilmer House is a historic home located at Charlottesville, Virginia. It was built about 1820, and is a three-story, three-bay, Federal style brick townhouse dwelling. The house has been divided into apartments.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Thomas Jonathan Jackson is a historic bronze equestrian statue of Confederate general Stonewall Jackson which was formerly located at Courthouse Historic District of Charlottesville, Virginia and installed in 1921. The statue was sculpted by Charles Keck and was the third of four works commissioned from members of the National Sculpture Society by philanthropist Paul Goodloe McIntire. It was the second of three statues McIntire donated to the city of Charlottesville, which he did over a period of five years from 1919 to 1924. The statue was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Court Square Park (formerly Jackson Park and Justice Park) is a public park in Charlottesville, Virginia. Court Square Park is 0.4 acres bounded by Jefferson Street, Fourth Street N.E., High Street and the Albemarle County Court Building. Paul Goodloe McIntire established the park in 1919 by donating the land to the city of Charlottesville.The park was originally named Jackson Park after Confederate general Stonewall Jackson. A statue of Jackson on horseback, Thomas Jonathan Jackson, was placed there in 1921.In November 2016 the Blue Ribbon Commission on Race, Memorials and Public Spaces published a report recommending transforming the statue into a monument for remembering racial oppression and to change the name from Jackson Park. In June 2017, the city council voted to change the name to Justice Park, and in July 2018, the name was changed again to Court Square Park.The statue was removed on July 10, 2021.

The Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, Virginia is one of the longest pedestrian malls in the United States. Located on Main Street, it runs from 6th St. N.E. to Old Preston Ave., where it extends to Water St., for total length of eight blocks. It is laid with brick and concrete, and home to an array of restaurants, shops, offices and art galleries. On Fridays in the spring, summer and fall, the Downtown Mall is host to Fridays After 5, a weekly concert series. Several side streets are also paved in brick and likewise closed to traffic. On the east, the Mall ends at the Ting Pavilion, an outdoor concert venue, while the west end of the Mall features an Omni Hotel. It is also home to the newly renovated Paramount Theater and the historic Jefferson Theater.
