Whitefield railway station (station code: WFD) is an Indian Railways train station located in Whitefield, Bangalore, in the Indian state of Karnataka, which is about 8 km away from the Krishnarajapuram railway station and serves the Whitefield area.The Whitefield railway station is about 3 km north of the Whitefield Bus stop. It lies on the Bangalore–Chennai route and is double and electrified, the Krishnarajapuram–Whitefield section is slated to be converted to a quadruple line. The station is slated to become a junction with a new Whitefield–Kolar (53 km; 33 miles) line being laid.

Varathur (originally known as) was once famous for a fort built here by the ancient rulers which was strengthened and expanded by his excellency Kempegowda. It is also believed that Kempegowda set up a weapons armory here. Some other companies such as Cisco Systems, ARM, and Aricent Group, are situated in Varthuru Hobli. At Varthuru, people celebrate Brahmarathotsava of Sri Chennaraya Swamy, which happens on the day of Ratha Saptami. It is one of the famous events that takes place in this area. Two days later is Karaga of Sri Draupathamma (Draupadi) at Sri Dharmaraya Swamy (Yudhishthira) temple, which happens at night and is visited by thousands of people from Varthuru, Gunjur, Madhuranagara, Whitefield, Ramagondannahalli, Balagere, Sorahunase, Immadihalli, Harohalli, Muthsandra, and Kotur.
