Columbia County is a county located in the east central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 156,010. The legal county seat is Appling, but the de facto seat of county government is Evans.Columbia County is included in the Augusta-Richmond County, GA-SC metropolitan statistical area. It is located along the Savannah River.

Patriots Park is a multi-purpose recreational facility that is home to different sports' fields, parks, and courts. The main gym and facilities were built in 1994. The main function of this facility is for recreational sports and other various team activities.

Grovetown High School is located in Grovetown, Georgia, United States, in Columbia County, and opened on August 10, 2009. Its enrollment for the 2010-2011 school was approximately 1300 students; its most recent enrollment approached 2,100.

The Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) is an unofficial trading and marketing region in the U.S. states of Georgia and South Carolina, spanning fourteen counties in Georgia and seven in South Carolina. The term was coined in 1950 by C.C. McCollum, the winner of a $250 contest held by The Augusta Chronicle to generate the best name for the area. Today the initialism is so commonly used that the full name is not known to all CSRA residents. The region is located on and named after the Savannah River, which forms the border between the two states. The largest cities within the CSRA are Augusta, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina. (The CSRA does not include the city of Savannah, Georgia or any portion of the Savannah metropolitan area.) The total population of the CSRA is 767,478 in 2018. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the seven-county Augusta-Richmond County Metropolitan Statistical Area (the core of the CSRA) had a 2020 population of more than 611,000, making it the second most populous (after metro Atlanta) in the state of Georgia.

The Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling, Georgia is the oldest continuing Southern Baptist congregation in the state. The church building was built in 1808. Its founder, Daniel Marshall, was the first great Baptist leader in Georgia. Kiokee Baptist Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

WAEG (92.3 FM) is a commercial smooth jazz radio station in Evans, Georgia, broadcasting to the Augusta, Georgia area. The station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to broadcast with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 6 kW. The station's studios (which are shared with its other sister stations) are located at the aptly named intersection of Broadcast Drive and Radio Station Road in North Augusta, South Carolina, while a transmitter tower is located northwest of Evans.

Kiokee is an unincorporated community in Columbia County in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is located along Georgia State Route 104, 7 miles (11 km) northwest of Evans and 17 miles (27 km) northwest of downtown Augusta.

Appling is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in and the county seat of Columbia County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population is 658. It is part of the Augusta metropolitan area. Appling was formerly a city but, with the 1993 passage of legislation requiring cities to provide at least three municipal services, Appling was not able to remain incorporated. It was one of 187 inactive cities in Georgia that lost its charter on 1 June 1995. There was question as to whether it had ever been incorporated at all since it had no functioning corporate authorities.Columbia County government and judicial offices are in Evans with the Columbia County Government Center, the Government Complex Addition, and the Columbia County Courthouse Annex all located there. Appling retains its status as county seat but all governmental functions are carried out in Evans.

The Columbia County Courthouse in Appling, Georgia is a building from 1812 with extensive additions made to the structure in 1856. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It is a two-story building with Italianate brackets at its eaves.: 4  John Trowbridge is identified as its architect/builder.As of 1980, the courthouse's condition was identified as "good", it was in use by the county, and there had been plans by the county government to restore the building.: 31 

WGAC-FM (95.1 MHz) is a radio station located in Augusta, Georgia. The station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to the town of Harlem and broadcast on with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 5.7 kW. It simulcasts a news/talk format with WGAC 580. Its studios are located just two blocks from the Augusta-Richmond County border in unincorporated Columbia County, Georgia and the transmitter is in Grovetown, Georgia, at the interchange of Interstate 20 and GA 388.

Greenbrier High School is a 5-A high school located in Evans, Georgia, a suburb of Augusta, Georgia, United States. For the 2010–11 school year, Greenbrier High School enrolled more than 1,600 students in grades 9 through 12. The school mascot is "Wolfie Wolfman" and the school colors are deep green, gold, and white.

The Columbia County School District is a school district based in Columbia County, Georgia, United States. It is run by the Columbia County Board of Education with superintendent Dr. Steven W. Flynt . CCSD currently operates a total of 31 schools: 18 elementary schools, eight middle schools, five high schools, and an alternative school.
