Lopez Adobe, located at 1100 Pico Street in San Fernando, California, is one of the two oldest private residences in the San Fernando Valley. Built in 1882 by early settlers of the San Fernando Valley a short distance from the San Fernando Mission, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. The Grand-Reopening of the property occurred on March 22, 2015, and is now open for public tours once every 4th Sunday of the month from 12-4 P.M.

It is served by Metrolink's Antelope Valley Line between Los Angeles Union Station and Lancaster. Sylmar/San Fernando station is served by 22 Metrolink Antelope Valley Line trains (11 in each direction) each weekday running primarily at peak hours in the peak direction of travel. Weekend service consists of 12 trains (6 in each direction) on both Saturday and Sunday evenly spaced throughout the day.It has been selected as the northern terminus of the planned East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project line.

Paxton is a planned light rail station on the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is part of the East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project. It is located on San Fernando Road between the base of the northbound California State Route 118 interchange and the intersection with Paxton Street in Pacoima. Metrolink Antelope Valley Line trains pass but will not stop here. It is planned to open as part of the second phase of the project.

The César E. Chávez Learning Academies, also known as Valley Region High School 5 (VRHS #5), is a public high school of the Los Angeles Unified School District. It is located in the City of San Fernando in the San Fernando Valley region of the Los Angeles metropolitan area, in the US state of California. It is named after César Chávez. The school opened in 2011, relieving overcrowding at San Fernando High School, Sylmar High School, Kennedy High School, and Verdugo Hills High School. When the school opened it had 1,600 students. Its design was based on historical California missions. The school campus is divided into four academies: Technology Prep Academy, ArTES, Social Justice Humanitas Academy, and San Fernando Academy of Scientific Exploration (ASE).

California's 29th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California based in the north central San Fernando Valley. The district is represented by Democrat Tony Cárdenas. It includes the city of San Fernando, as well as the Los Angeles communities of Van Nuys, Pacoima, Arleta, Panorama City, Sylmar, and parts of Sun Valley and North Hollywood.

Our Lady Queen of Angels Seminary (OLQA) was the Junior or Minor Seminary for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles from its founding in 1953 until its closure in 1995. It was located in Mission Hills, California, adjacent to Mission San Fernando Rey de España. The Vincentian Fathers were primarily responsible for staffing the school until 1973 when it was staffed by priests of the Los Angeles Archdiocese. Following closure, the western school campus became the home of Bishop Alemany High School, whose campus was severely damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake.

Bishop Alemany High School is a Roman Catholic secondary school located in the San Fernando Valley community of Mission Hills in Los Angeles, California. It is within the San Fernando Pastoral Region of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Originally known as the Indians, the school later changed their mascot to the Warriors.

Sylmar Charter High School is a charter school in the northeast San Fernando Valley in the Sylmar district of Los Angeles, California. Established in 1961, it is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, District 2, and serves more than 3,600 students in grades 9–12. The school mascot is the Spartans.

The Convento Building, known for its iconic arched portico or colonnade, was built between 1808 and 1822 and is the only original building remaining at the Mission San Fernando Rey de España in the Mission Hills section of San Fernando Valley in California in the United States. It was also the largest adobe building in California and the largest original building at any of the California missions.
