The Moscow Art Theatre (or MAT; Russian: Московский Художественный академический театр (МХАТ), Moskovskiy Hudojestvenny Akademicheskiy Teatr (МHАТ)) was a theatre company in Moscow. It was founded in 1898 by the seminal Russian theatre practitioner Konstantin Stanislavski, together with the playwright and director Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko. It was conceived as a venue for naturalistic theatre, in contrast to the melodramas that were Russia's dominant form of theatre at the time. The theatre, the first to regularly put on shows implementing Stanislavski's system, proved hugely influential in the acting world and in the development of modern American theatre and drama. It was officially renamed the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre in 1932. In 1987, the theatre split into two troupes, the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre and the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre.

Moscow Chekhov Art Theatre (Russian: Московский Художественный театр имени А. П. Чехова) is a drama theatre in Moscow founded in 1987 after the division of the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre into two theatres. Since 1989, it has been named after Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, one of its main authors. In 2004, it returned to its historical name, "Moscow Art Theatre", abandoning the title "academic". Its artistic director is Konstantin Khabensky, People's Artist of the Russian Federation(since October 28, 2021).

The Yermolova Theatre (Russian: Москóвский теáтр им. М. Н. Ермóловой) is a theatre company in the Tverskoy District of central Moscow. It is under the artistic direction of Vladimir Andreyev (Russian: Владимир Андреев). The theatre's building was built in the 1830s, and is one of the largest on Tverskaya Street. Tickets for productions cost about 50-300 roubles.

The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation (Russian: Министерство цифрового развития, связи и массовых коммуникаций Российской Федерации), also known as MinTsifry Rossii (Russian: Минцифры России), is a ministry of the Government of Russia responsible for telecommunications, media and the post. The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media was established in May 2008 from successor agencies of the Ministry of Communications of the USSR, and was known as the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications until it receiving its current name in 2018. The Ministry of Communications of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) (Russian: Министерство связи СССР) was the central state administration body on communications in the Soviet Union from 1923 to 1991. During its existence it had three names: People's Commissariat for Posts and Telegraphs (1923–32), People's Commissariat for Communications (1932–46) and Ministry of Communications (1946–1991). It had authority over the postal, telegraph and telephone communications as well as public radio, technical infrastructure of radio and television broadcasting, and the distribution of periodicals in the country.

Tverskaya Street (Russian: Тверская улица, IPA: [tvʲɪrˈskajə ˈulʲɪt͡sə]), known between 1935 and 1990 as Gorky Street (Russian: улица Горького), is the main radial street in Moscow. The street runs Northwest from the central Manege Square in the direction of Saint Petersburg and terminates at the Garden Ring, giving the name to Tverskoy District. The route continues further as First Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street, Leningradsky Avenue and Leningradskoye Highway.

The State Duma (Russian: Госуда́рственная ду́ма, tr. Gosudárstvennaya dúma), commonly abbreviated in Russian as Gosduma (Russian: Госду́ма), is the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia, while the upper house is the Federation Council. The Duma headquarters are located in central Moscow, a few steps from Manege Square. Its members are referred to as deputies. The State Duma replaced the Supreme Soviet as a result of the new constitution introduced by Boris Yeltsin in the aftermath of the Russian constitutional crisis of 1993, and approved in a nationwide referendum. In the 2007 and 2011 Russian legislative elections a full party-list proportional representation with 7% electoral threshold system was used, but this was subsequently repealed. The legislature's term length was initially 2 years in the 1993–1995 elections period, and 4 years in 1999–2007 elections period; since the 2011 elections the term length is 5 years.
