Dornach is also a quarter of the French city of Mulhouse and the Scots name for Dornoch in the Scottish Highlands, and Dòrnach is the Gaelic name for Dornoch in the Scottish Highlands.Dornach (Swiss German: Dornech) is a municipality in the district of Dorneck in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.

Arlesheim District is one of the five districts of the largely German-speaking canton of Basel-Country, Switzerland. Its capital is the town of Arlesheim. It has a population of 157,896 (as of 30 June 2021).

The Battle of Dornach was fought on 22 July 1499 between the troops of Emperor Maximilian I and the Old Swiss Confederacy, close to the Swiss village of Dornach. The battle ended in a decisive defeat for Maximilian, and concluded the Swabian War between the Swiss and the Swabian League.

Dorneck District is one of the ten districts of the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland, situated to the north of the canton. Together with Thierstein District, it forms the Amtei (electoral district) of Dorneck-Thierstein. It has a population of 20,802 (as of 31 December 2020). Five of the district's eleven municipalities are exclaves, either within the canton of Basel-Country or bordering France.

The Goetheanum, located in Dornach, in the canton of Solothurn, Switzerland, is the world center for the anthroposophical movement. The building was designed by Rudolf Steiner and named after Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It includes two performance halls (1500 seats), gallery and lecture spaces, a library, a bookstore, and administrative spaces for the Anthroposophical Society; neighboring buildings house the society's research and educational facilities. Conferences focusing on themes of general interest or directed toward teachers, farmers, doctors, therapists, and other professionals are held at the center throughout the year. The Goetheanum is open for visitors seven days a week and offers tours several times daily.

Dornach-Arlesheim railway station (German: Bahnhof Dornach-Arlesheim) is a railway station in the municipality of Arlesheim, in the Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft. It is an intermediate stop on the Basel–Biel/Bienne line and is served by local trains only. The station is located just north of the border with the is on the border with the Canton of Solothurn and the municipality of Dornach.

Arlesheim Cathedral (German: Arlesheimer Dom) is a Roman Catholic church, which now serves as the main church of Arlesheim. From 1679 to 1792 it was the church of the displaced cathedral chapter of the Diocese of Basel in the Basel-Landschaft in the northern part of Switzerland.During the French Revolution the Prince Bishop Sigismund von Roggenbach had to go into exile in Constance, returning to Freiburg in 1793. The church building and its contents were auctioned after serving successively as a wine cellar and a stable. It became a religious building again in 1812, and was later consecrated as a parish church of the parish of Arlesheim. It has now been listed as a cultural monument of national importance in Switzerland.

Dorneck Castle is a castle in the municipality of Dornach of the Canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

Birseck Castle (German: Burg Birseck) is located in the municipality of Arlesheim in the canton of Basel-Country. Birseck Castle is also called "Untere Burg Birseck" or "Vordere Burg Birseck" and is one of four castles on a slope called Birseck that confines the plain of the Birs river. The Eremitage building group that includes the castle is listed as a heritage site of national significance.Burg Reichenstein is the sister castle to Birseck and sits on a higher slope to the north.

The 2012 Women's Masters Basel were held from October 12 to 14 at the Curlingzentrum Region Basel in Basel, Switzerland as part of the 2012–13 World Curling Tour. The event was held in a triple knockout format, and the purse for the event was 32,000 CHF, of which the winner, Margaretha Sigfridsson, received 10,000 CHF. Sigfridsson won her second straight Women's Masters Basel title with a 6–3 win over Silvana Tirinzoni in the final.

Reichenstein Castle (German: Burg Reichenstein) is a castle in the municipality of Arlesheim in the canton of Basel-Land in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.It is one of four castles on a slope called Birseck that confines the plain of the Birs river and is the sister castle to Birseck Castle. 1245-1813 the castle was a property of the Swiss noble family Reich von Reichenstein. This family hold also the Château de Landskron (France) and Inzlingen Castle (Germany).

Aesch railway station (German: Bahnhof Aesch) is a railway station in the municipality of Aesch, in the Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft. It is an intermediate stop on the Basel–Biel/Bienne line and is served by local trains only. The station is on the east side of the river Birs, opposite the Aesch city center.
