Department of Cooperative Governance

The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) is a department of the South African government that is responsible for the organisation and administration of the civil service. It is responsible for matters including labour relations of government employees, the provision of government IT services, and integrity in public administration. Political responsibility for the department is held by the Minister of Public Service and Administration, assisted by a deputy. As of August 2020 the minister is Senzo Mchunu and his deputy is Sindisiwe Chikunga. In the 2020 budget the department received an appropriation of R565.7 million. In the 2018/19 financial year it had 444 employees.

The Pan South African Language Board (Afrikaans: Pan-Suid-Afrikaanse Taalraad, abbreviated PanSALB) is an organisation in South Africa established to promote multilingualism, to develop the 11 official languages, and to protect language rights in South Africa. The Board was established in Act 59 of 1995 by the Parliament of South Africa.In addition to the 11 official languages of South Africa, PanSALB also strives for the development of the Khoe, San, and South African Sign Language.PanSALB structures include: Provincial Language Committees, the National Language Bodies and the National Lexicography Units.

The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) is a department of the Government of South Africa created in June 2019 by the merger of the agriculture functions of the former Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries with the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform. The department has responsibility for agriculture, food safety, food security, land reform, topographic mapping, cadastral survey, the Deeds Offices, and spatial planning. The political head of the department is the Minister of Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, who is assisted by two deputy ministers. As of August 2020 the minister is Thoko Didiza, the deputy minister for land reform is Mcebisi Skwatsha, and the deputy minister for rural development is Sdumo Dlamini.In the 2020 budget the department received an appropriation of R16,810.1 million. In the 2019/19 financial year it had 7,505 employees.

The Department of Traditional Affairs (DTA) is a department of the South African government, responsible for overseeing the traditional leadership of South Africa's indigenous communities. Along with the Department of Cooperative Governance, it is within the political responsibility of the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), who is assisted by a Deputy Minister of Traditional Affairs. As of August 2020 the minister is Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and her deputies are Obed Bapela and Thembi Nkadimeng.In the 2020 budget, R173.4 million was appropriated for the department. In the 2018/19 financial year it had 95 employees.

Meintjeskop is a hill in Pretoria on which the Union Buildings (die Uniegebou(e) in Afrikaans) were constructed. Marthinus Wessel Pretorius, later to become first president of the Transvaal Republic, was the original owner of the farm 'Elandsfontein' on which Meintjieskop stands. In 1856 Andries Francois du Toit (1813–1883), in exchange for a Basuto pony, acquired part of the farm, which he named Arcadia. He was also Pretoria’s first magistrate and was responsible for planning the layout of the city. During this period he sold his land for £1200 to Stephanus Jacobus Meintjes (1819–1887), and by 1870 it bore the name Mentjieskop. Meintjeskop is part of the Witwatersberg Ridge, which runs east–west through Pretoria. Geologically it forms part of the Pretoria Group of the Transvaal sequence.

Caledonian Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. It is currently used mostly for football matches, and is the home venue of Arcadia Shepherds. The stadium was built specifically for Arcadia Shepherds in the 1950s. They left the stadium in 1974 but returned in 1997. In 2016, the club was threatened with an eviction order by the City of Tshwane mayor's office, who planned to turn the land into a public park.

The Nelson Mandela statue on the Union Buildings grounds, Pretoria, Gauteng, of former President of South Africa and anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela, stands 9 metres tall. The statue was unveiled on the Day of Reconciliation (16 December) 2013, bringing the official mourning period of ten days to a close, after Mandela died on 5 December.

The Union Buildings (Afrikaans: Uniegebou) form the official seat of the South African Government and also house the offices of the President of South Africa. The imposing buildings are located in Pretoria, atop Meintjieskop at the northern end of Arcadia, close to historic Church Square and the Voortrekker Monument. The large gardens of the Buildings are nestled between Government Avenue, Vermeulen Street East, Church Street, the R104 and Blackwood Street. Fairview Avenue is a closed road through which only officials can enter the Union Buildings. Though not in the centre of Pretoria, the Union Buildings occupy the highest point of Pretoria, and constitute a South African national heritage site.The Buildings are one of the centres of political life in South Africa; "The Buildings" and "Arcadia" have become metonyms for the South African government. It has become an iconic landmark of Pretoria and South Africa in general, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city and an emblem of democracy. The Buildings are the location of presidential inaugurations.

The South African Police Memorial is located in the grounds of the Union Buildings in Pretoria and commemorates officers of the South African Police Service who died in the line of duty.

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is the central bank of South Africa. It was established in 1921 after Parliament passed an act, the "Currency and Bank Act of 10 August 1920", as a direct result of the abnormal monetary and financial conditions which World War I had brought. The SARB was only the fourth central bank established outside the United Kingdom and Europe, the others being the United States, Japan and Java. The earliest suggestions for the establishment of the Central Bank in South Africa date back to 1879. A select committee, consisting of ten members of Parliament, was established on 31 March 1920 to examine the benefits to the national interest of the establishing of the central bank.Following on the recommendations of the committee, the South African Reserve Bank opened for business on 30 June 1921, making it the oldest central bank in Africa. The first banknotes were issued to the public by the Bank on 19 April 1922. Set of ZAR notes 2012 to present R 104 000 000 000.00 and Set of ZAR notes 2018 to present 400 000 000 print. Unlike the Bank of England, which provided the model for establishing the SARB, the SARB is privately owned.

Prinshof is an area in Pretoria. It is the home of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Pretoria and the Steve Biko Hospital (formerly the Pretoria Academic Hospital). Prinshof is also the name of a school in Pretoria for partially sighted children.

Tshwane District Hospital is situated in Prinshof 349-Jr, a suburb of Pretoria, South Africa. It was known as H. F. Verwoerd Hospital (the current Steve Biko Hospital) until 1994, but is now a separate community hospital that deals with non-critical care.
