Loreta (Prague)

Domeček (or Hradčanský domeček) is an informal name for a former small prison in Hradčany, district of Prague. The name in Czech means 'small house' and refers to the size of the building. Domeček, placed next to the building of a military court, had served as a military prison during the Austro-Hungarian period. It was used by the Gestapo during World War II and since 1948 the Czechoslovakian security service (StB) employed it as a secret prison. It hosted 30 solitary cells. StB used the place for torture of political opponents, among them the officers of the pre-war army or members of the anti-nazi resistance.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic (MFACR; Czech: Ministerstvo zahraničních věcí České republiky; MZVČR) is a Czech government ministry responsible for international relations of the Czech Republic. The Ministry is headquartered in Černín Palace, Loretánské náměstí 5, 118, Prague 1, (Hradčany). The Ministry operates the diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic abroad and is responsible for implementing the foreign policy of the Czech Republic and Czech diplomacy efforts. The Ministry is led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is nominated by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. The current Minister of Foreign Affairs is Jan Lipavský, in office since 17 December 2021.

The Czernin Palace (Czech: Černínský palác) is the largest of the baroque palaces of Prague, which has served as the offices of the Czechoslovak and later Czech foreign ministry since the 1930s. It was commissioned by the diplomat Humprecht Jan Černín z Chudenic, the Habsburg imperial ambassador to Venice and Rome, in the 1660s.The palace features stuccos by Italian artists.

The Embassy of Sweden in Oslo is Sweden's diplomatic mission in Norway. It's located on Inkognitogata 27, close to The Queen Sonja Art Stable and the Royal Palace. The embassy was opened in 1905 and is tasked with representing Sweden and the Swedish government in Norway and promoting Sweden's interests.

The Embassy of Sweden in Prague is Sweden's diplomatic mission in the Czech Republic. It's located on Úvoz street, in Hradčany, the castle region of Prague. It is close to the Strahov Monastery. The embassy has a great view of the rest of Prague because it is located up on the hill. A pedestrian path, named after Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who saved thousands of Jews from the Holocaust, leads from embassy up to the Petrin Hill.

The Josef Sudek Gallery (Czech: Galerie Josefa Sudka) is near Hradčany (Úvoz 24) in Prague, in a house where Josef Sudek (b. 1896 Kolín, d. 1976 Prague) lived from 1959 until his death. Part of his photographic output was transferred to the MDA in Prague in the years 1978–1988. Since 1989 the MDA in Prague has also administered his flat, where the gallery opened in 1995. Sudek had also a studio in Prague, Na Újezdu 28, which he continued to use for his photographic work (namely the darkroom) after moving to Hradčany, and where his sister and assistant Božena Sudková lived. Sudek's flat was a popular place for friendly gatherings of many artists, among them the poet Jaroslav Seifert, painter Jan Zrzavý, architect Otto Rothmayer and many others. In the flat, which was gradually filled with numerous paintings, frames, goblets, boxes and photographic tools, originated many now renowned compositions in the series Aviatic Remembrances, Easter Remembrances, Labyrinths and Glass Labyrinths. This flat was also a departure point from which Sudek used to set off to roam the Prague gardens, parks and his beloved outskirts.

The Museum on Miniatures in Prague features a number of miniature works of art, some of them needing to be viewed with a microscope or magnifying device.

Strahov (Czech pronunciation: [ˈstraɦof]) is a district of Prague in the Czech Republic. It lies on the west bank of the Vltava, west of Petřín hill, Malá Strana and Hradčany. It is bordered by the districts of Břevnov, Smíchov, Košíře, Střešovice and Malá Strana.

Strahov Monastery (Czech: Strahovský klášter) is a Premonstratensian abbey founded in 1143 by Jindřich Zdík, Bishop John of Prague, and Vladislaus II, Duke of Bohemia. It is located in Strahov, Prague, Czech Republic.

The Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady is a church in the Strahov Monastery, Prague. It was originally constructed as a Romanesque basilica and later rebuilt in Baroque style.

Hradčany Square (Czech: Hradčanské náměstí) is a square near Prague Castle in Prague, Czech Republic.

Sternberg Palace (Czech: Šternberský palác) is a Baroque building in Prague, Czech Republic. It currently serves as a gallery of the National Gallery Prague and is a cultural monument.
