South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) is in charge of the country's foreign relations, as well as handling matters related to overseas Korean nationals. It was established on 17 July 1948. Its main office is located in the MOFA Building in Jongno District, Seoul. The ministry previously had its headquarters in a facility in Doryeom-dong in Jongno District.

AlphaGo versus Lee Sedol, also known as the Google DeepMind Challenge Match, was a five-game Go match between top Go player Lee Sedol and AlphaGo, a computer Go program developed by Google DeepMind, played in Seoul, South Korea between 9 and 15 March 2016. AlphaGo won all but the fourth game; all games were won by resignation. The match has been compared with the historic chess match between Deep Blue and Garry Kasparov in 1997. The winner of the match was slated to win $1 million. Since AlphaGo won, Google DeepMind stated that the prize will be donated to charities, including UNICEF, and Go organisations. Lee received $170,000 ($150,000 for participating in the five games and an additional $20,000 for winning one game).After the match, The Korea Baduk Association awarded AlphaGo the highest Go grandmaster rank – an "honorary 9 dan". It was given in recognition of AlphaGo's "sincere efforts" to master Go. This match was chosen by Science as one of the Breakthrough of the Year runners-up on 22 December 2016.

Gwanghwamun Station is a station on the Seoul Subway Line 5 in South Korea. It is not the closest subway station to the actual gate of Gwanghwamun, which it is named after. It is located next to the U.S. Embassy in Seoul. This station boasts the most traffic of all Line 5 stations.

Gwanghwamun Plaza (Korean: 광화문광장; Hanja: 光化門廣場, also known as Gwanghwamun Square) is a public open space on Sejongno, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea. The plaza was opened on 1 August 2009 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and is part of the City's plans for environmentally friendly renovation projects such as the Cheonggye Stream and Seoul Plaza. It is also historically significant as the location of royal administrative buildings, known as Yukjo-geori or Street of Six Ministries; and features statues of Admiral Yi Sun-sin of Joseon Dynasty and King Sejong the Great of Joseon. The goal of opening and reconstructing this plaza is to make it a historical and cultural place for the common citizen.

The Downtown Seoul (Korean: 서울 도심, 서울 도심부, 서울 시내) is traditional city center and central business district of Seoul, located through Gwanghwamun of Jongno District and Seoul Station of Jung District. For its time-honored and unique geographic status in Seoul, the Downtown is usually called as 'The Central Business District (CBD)', or somtimes as 'Gwanghwamun Business District (GBD)' for outstanding landmark 'Gwanghwamun' at the heart of it.

The Kumho Art Hall (Korean: 금호아트홀) is a classical music hall in Seoul, South Korea.

The Personal Information Protection Commission is national data protection authority of South Korea. It is formed as independent agency in year 2011 by 'Personal Information Protection Act(PIPA, Korean: 개인정보 보호법)', and is now located in Government Complex Seoul. The Commission is constituted with 9 commissioners and one of them is Chairperson, appointed by the President of South Korea.

The Central Government Complex, Sejong-no Seoul, Korea, is an area of office developments which are home to several Korean government agencies. The building was renamed from January 1, 2013 from Central Government Complex (정부중앙청사) to Government Seoul Complex (정부서울청사).

The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) is an international organization established with a vision to promote peace and common prosperity among China, Japan, and South Korea. Upon the agreement signed and ratified by each of the three governments, the TCS was officially inaugurated in Seoul, on 1 September 2011. On the basis of equal participation, each government shares 1/3 of the total operational budget.

The Embassy of the United States in Seoul is the embassy of the United States in the Republic of Korea (South Korea), in the capital city of Seoul. The embassy is charged with diplomacy and South Korea–United States relations. The United States Ambassador to Korea is the head of the diplomatic mission of the United States to South Korea.

Bigak is a pavilion near Gwanghwamun in central Seoul. The pavilion was built in 1902 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Emperor Gojong’s coronation and his 50th birthday, as well as the founding in 1897 of the Korean Empire.

Sontag Hotel (Korean: 손탁 호텔) was the first European hotel in Korea. It was built in 1902, in Jung District, Seoul, Korean Empire. The hotel was sold in 1917 and eventually demolished in 1922.The 25-room hotel was bestowed to a German Russian, Antoinette Sontag, by Emperor Gojong. She was the sister-in-law of the Russian ambassador, Karl Waeber. It is said that she could speak German, Russian, English and also some Korean, gaining wider acknowledgement from the royal family. However, she was almost expelled from Korea when Japan's influence in Korea grew. In September 1909, J. Boher assumed ownership of the hotel.
