Bumpass is an unincorporated area in Louisa County, Virginia, United States. Its post office is still in service. National Historical Places registered in Bumpass include the Duke House and Jerdone Castle. The latter is a plantation (now lakefront) where George Washington spent the night on June 10 during his 1791 Southern tour.The community was named for John T. Bumpass, one of the first postmasters in the area. The surname "Bumpass" in turn derives from the French bonpass, meaning "good passage".

Duke House, also known as Little River Farm, is a historic home located at Bumpass, Louisa County, Virginia. It was built about 1790, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, frame dwelling sheathed with beaded weatherboards with an asymmetrical façade and double-shouldered exterior-end brick chimneys. It has a traditional single-pile, central-passage plan. A wing was added to the west end of the house during the first quarter of the 20th century. Also on the property are a contributing frame dependency and family cemetery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Jerdone Castle is a plantation located in Bumpass, Louisa County, Virginia, originally established c. 1742. Jerdone Castle is a Virginia Historic Landmark and registered on the U.S. National Register of Historical Places. Originally 1,100 acres (450 ha), much of the plantation's original land is submerged under Lake Anna. The estate currently contains 175 acres (71 ha).

The Thalhimer Tennis Center is the intercollegiate tennis facility at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. It is home stadium and training facility for the VCU Rams women's tennis and the VCU Rams men's tennis teams.

Lake Anna is one of the largest freshwater inland reservoirs in Virginia, covering an area of 13,000 acres (53 km2), and located 72 miles (116 km) south of Washington, D.C., in Louisa and Spotsylvania counties (and partially in Orange County at the northern tip). The lake is easily accessible from Fredericksburg, Richmond, Charlottesville, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C., and is one of the most popular recreational lakes in the state.

Harris–Poindexter House and Store is a historic home, store, and farm complex located at Mineral, Louisa County, Virginia. The house was built about 1837, and is a two-story, three-bay, frame farmhouse in the Greek Revival style. The store was built about 1865, and is one-story frame building. Also on the property are a contributing smokehouse (c. 1893), tenant house (Doll House) (c. 1930), and a variety of early- to mid-20th century farm related outbuildings, and a late-19th century grist mill.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The North Anna Nuclear Generating Station is a nuclear power plant on a 1,075-acre (435 ha) site in Louisa County, Virginia, in the Mid-Atlantic United States. The site is operated by Dominion Generation company and is jointly owned by the Dominion Virginia Power corporation (88.4%) and by the Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (11.6%). The plant has two Westinghouse pressurized water reactors which went on-line in 1978 and 1980, respectively. Together the reactors generate 1.79 gigawatts of power, which is distributed mainly to the greater Richmond area and to Northern Virginia. In March 2003, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved 20 year license extensions for both Units 1 & 2.An artificial lake, Lake Anna, was constructed on the North Anna River to provide a reservoir of water coolant for use with the nuclear plant. Dominion Energy currently owns nuclear power plants in Virginia (North Anna, Surry), Connecticut (Millstone), South Carolina (Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Generating Station), and Wisconsin (Kewaunee). North Anna is similar in design and appearance to Surry Power Station.

Oakland is a historic home located near Montpelier, Hanover County, Virginia. It was built in 1898–1846, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, three-bay, frame farmhouse, with a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay by five bay, rambling wing. It was built on the foundations of a house built in 1812 that was destroyed by fire. Also on the property are a contributing smokehouse and office. Oakland was the home and birthplace of the Virginia novelist, Thomas Nelson Page.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Partlow is an unincorporated community in Spotsylvania County in the U.S. state of Virginia. Partlow is a small rural community located between Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. 1) and Lake Anna. It sits at an elevation of 400 feet, and appears on the Lake Anna East U.S. Geological Survey Map. Partlow's zip code is 22534, and as of the 2000 census, it had a population of 2,083. Partlow is located 31 miles northwest of the city of Richmond, Virginia. Originally, the area was termed "Pea Ridge" and was the site of a slave auction. Part of the original slave block still rests directly on Rt. 738 between the Partlow Post Office and Mt. Olive Rd (Rt. 658). A tavern, called "The Partlow Tavern", was established by Capt. John C. Partlow on the same corner as the slave block. Partlow is also home to Wallers Baptist Church, a historically notable church founded in 1769, known for the notorious persecutions against its founding pastor, John "Swearing Jack" Waller, by the Church of England. Capt. Partlow and Benjamin Waller, a descendant of John Waller, were also persecuted for their religion and briefly jailed at one point for having services in their homes. In the early 19th century, Benjamin Waller and John Partlow worked together to form the first Partlow Post Office. The family farm was sold in 2018. The last direct descendant bearing the Partlow name, Anne Partlow Pemberton, died in January 2004. Partlow's primary significance in popular culture is as the location of the plantation where the fictional character Kunta Kinte was enslaved.

Cuckoo is a Federal style house in the small community of Cuckoo, Virginia near Mineral, Virginia, built in 1819 for Henry Pendleton. Cuckoo was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 19, 1994. The house is prominently sited on U.S. Route 33, which curves around the house. Cuckoo's interior retains Federal detailing alongside Colonial Revival elements from the early 20th century. The house is notable for its design, prominence and its association with the Pendleton family of doctors. The house was named for the Cuckoo Tavern, which stood nearby from 1788. It has been in the Pendleton family since its construction.

Cuckoo is a small unincorporated community in Louisa County, Virginia, United States. It is located about eight miles southeast of Louisa, roughly between Charlottesville and Richmond. The Cuckoo Tavern stood nearby, which in 1781 was the beginning of Jack Jouett's ride to warn the Colonists of the arrival of Banastre Tarleton's British cavalry (similar to Paul Revere's Ride). There was also a large house named Cuckoo built in 1819 for Henry Pendleton on the former property of William Overton Callis. A historical marker is at the spot. Its post office has been closed. The tavern was named for the cuckoo clock on the wall, supposedly one of the first in Virginia.George Jackson, the father of Shirley Ann Jackson, American nuclear physicist and President of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, was a native of Cuckoo.
