The Dalsenget fire was a disaster where the Dalsenget Depot of Trondheim Sporvei burnt down, destroying almost all of the modern tram fleet. 26 trams, 16 trailers and one working tram were destroyed, and three cleaners lost their lives. It was, at the time, the largest fire in Trondheim, Norway, after World War II. The fire started at 04:15 on 10 October 1956, and quickly the entire depot was ablaze. The fire department was not alerted until 04:23, and little could be done to save the trams or the depot. One tram and trailer survived from within the fire-proof paint shop. Trondheim Sporvei had never discarded its old trams, that were stored at Voldsminde Depot, and eleven old trams were in service within the day. In addition, eight buses were borrowed from Oslo within the week. Damage was at NOK 9 million, of which 8 million was for the rolling stock. A proposal to replace the tramway with trolleybus was discarded by the city council. The depot was rebuilt, and 28 new Class 7 trams were ordered, in addition to 15 trailers from Strømmens Værksted and Hønefoss Karosserifabrikk, respectively. The bogies and motors were salvaged, and reused on the new trams.

Dalsenget was a tram stop and terminus on the Elgeseter Line of the Trondheim Tramway between 1923 and 1983 and the site of a tram depot during this period.

The Moser research environment (Norwegian: Moser-miljøet) is the informal name of Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. The neuroscience research institute is founded and led by the Nobel laureates Edvard Moser and May-Britt Moser since 1996. The Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience comprises two research centres: Centre for Neural Computation (CNC), a centre of excellence since 2002; and the Egil and Pauline Braathen and Fred Kavli Centre for Cortical Microcircuits (BKC). The Mosers were awarded the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "for their discoveries of cells that constitute a positioning system in the brain."

Elgeseter Bridge (Norwegian: Elgeseter bru) is a bridge in the city and municipality of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the European route E6 highway which passes over the Nidelva river and connects Prinsens street in the Midtbyen area of Trondheim with Elgeseter street in the Elgeseter area of Trondheim in the south. The Trondheim city council decided on 17 March 1949 that the bridge should be built. Elgeseter bridge was opened in 1951 after a construction period of 2 years.

Elgeseter is a neighborhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the western part of the borough of Lerkendal. It is south and east of the river Nidelva, south of the neighborhoods of Midtbyen and Øya, west of Singsaker and north of Nardo. The name comes from Helgeseter, the name of Helgeseter Priory, an Augustinian abbey located at Elgeseter during the Middle Ages.Elgeseter is the centre of technology in Trondheim, housing both St. Olavs Hospital, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and parts of Sør-Trøndelag University College. In area is zoned for labour-intensive jobs, resulting in a number of technology companies being at Elgeseter. In addition there is some housing in the area. At the southern end of Elgeseter is the stadium for the Norwegian Premier League team Rosenborg, Lerkendal Stadium. At the north of Elgeseter is Studentersamfundet, the student society house in Trondheim.The area has always been one of the main transport routes into Trondheim. Already in the Middle Ages there was a bridge over the river, and when the first railway to Trondheim, Trondhjem-Størenbanen was opened in 1863. Since this bridge has been transferred to cars 1884, later to trams 1913 and finally in 1951 the present Elgeseter Bridge was built. The Trondheim Tramway had a separate line, Elgeseterlinjen, between the town centre and Elgeseter between 1913 and 1983, including a depot at the terminus Dalsenget. The main route from the south into Trondheim, European route E6 goes through Elgeseter.

The Student Society in Trondheim (Norwegian: Studentersamfundet i Trondhjem, Samfundet for short) is Norway's largest student society. Besides housing a café, a restaurant, several bars and frequently hosting concerts and other activities (among them Norway's biggest culture festival, UKA), it is an independent organization for all students and teachers in Trondheim, owned fully by its members. (At the end of 2011, there are about 9000 members.) Many famous artists have held concerts here. Among others, Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, N.E.R.D., Phoenix, Public Enemy, White Lies, Crystal Fighters, Tom McRae, Motörhead, Suede, Motorpsycho, Dum Dum Boys, In Flames and many, many more. Quite a few famous Norwegian bands have started their careers on one of Samfundet's many stages. Some examples are Knutsen & Ludvigsen, deLillos and Postgirobygget. Every other year world figures attend The Student Society through its festival ISFiT and past speakers include the Dalai Lama, former Director-General of WHO Gro Harlem Brundtland and Nobel Peace Prize Laureates José Ramos-Horta and Wangari Maathai.From 1992 to 2014 Samfundet transformed into Trondheim InterRail Center (TIRC) during the summer (from late June to mid August). TIRC was started in 1992 by members of the Student Society, and was run by society volunteers every summer.

St. Olav's University Hospital (Norwegian: St. Olavs Hospital Universitetssykehuset i Trondheim) is the hospital in Trondheim, Norway located at Øya. It is part of St. Olavs Hospital Trust that operates all the hospitals in Sør-Trøndelag and thus indirectly state owned. It cooperates closely with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in research and in education of medical doctors. The university is named for Olaf II of Norway, also known as St. Olav. It performed 274,441 somatic and 88,692 psychiatric consultations in 2005 with 8,691 employees and a budget of Norwegian krone 5.1 billion. Trondheim Heliport, St. Olav's Hospital (ICAO: ENTR) is a helipad located adjacent to the emergency ward. It opened on 1 February 2010 and has a fuel tank.

Helgeseter Priory or Elgeseter Priory (Elgeseter kloster) was a medieval era house of Augustinian Canons in what is now the neighborhood of Elgeseter in Trondheim, Norway.

Tempe Church (Norwegian: Tempe kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Trondheim municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Lerkendal area in the city of Trondheim, between the old European route E6 highway and Lerkendal Stadion. It is one of the churches for the Nidelven parish which is part of the Strinda prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white plastered brick church was built in a long church style in 1960 using plans drawn up by the architect Roar Tønseth. The church seats about 240 people.

Stavne is a neighbourhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Midtbyen. It is located on the west shore of the river Nidelva, east of Byåsen. It lies across the river from Elgeseter. The area was previously served the Dovre Line. It is presently served by the Stavne–Leangen Line which runs between Stavne and Leangen.Stavne is the location of Trondheim (Stavne) Cemetery which is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

The St. Olav's Cathedral (Norwegian: St. Olav domkirke) is the church home to the Prelature of Trondheim, belonging to the Catholic Church in Norway.It is built on the foundations of a cathedral designed by architect Per Kartvedt and was consecrated in 1973 to serve as the new church of the Vicariate of Trondheim. In 1979 it was elevated from Rome to the status of cathedral, while the vicarage was converted into a prelature. Bishop Bernt Ivar Eidsvig initiated a committee to plan a new cathedral in 2009 and the year after the architectural firm Eggen Arkitekter AS got the assignment. The previous church was demolished on 25 May 2014. The new church was finished in November 2016.

Radio Revolt (formerly known as Studentradion i Trondheim), is the student radio in Trondheim, Norway. It airs 55 hours a week on 100 and 106,2 FM, and 24 hours a day on the internet. It employs about 80 students on a voluntary basis. The radio is a part of the Student Society in Trondheim, and is so a part of the running of the house.
