Ansgar Church

Duborg-Skolen is a Danish non-denominational secondary school with Sixth Form extension located in Flensburg, Germany. It is one of a number of schools operated by members of the Danish minority of Southern Schleswig, and it is the leading school for this community. The school teaches both Danish and German at native-speaker level. All other topics are instructed in Danish. Duborg-Skolen was established in 1924 as a Danish realskole and in 1958 it was recognized as a non-denominational school with Sixth Form extension. The curriculum enables its students to continue education in both Germany and Denmark. Its buildings are located in the Flensburg district of Duburg (Danish: Duborg), hence the name, and operated by the Dansk Skoleforening for Sydslesvig (Danish School Association for Southern Schleswig).

The Nordertor (Danish: Nørreport) is an old town gate in Flensburg, Germany, which was built around 1595. Today the landmark is used as a symbol for Flensburg.

Flensburg Firth or Flensborg Fjord (German: Flensburger Förde; Danish: Flensborg Fjord) is the westernmost inlet of the Baltic Sea. It forms part of the border between Germany to the south and Denmark to the north, on the eastern side of Schleswig Holstein and Jutland, respectively. Its length is between 40 and 50 km, depending on where it is considered to begin. It has the largest area of all the fjords of East Jutland, which are a special type of inlet, different from geological fjords.Two peninsulas, Broager on the northern side and Holnis on the southern side, divide the inlet into an outer and an inner part. West of them, near the Danish coast, there are two small islands called Okseøerne (meaning Ox Isles). On the Danish side, the outer part of the northern end of the firth is partly closed off by the island of Als, with the town of Sønderborg on it. Towards the west, continuing on the Danish side, are Broager, Egernsund, Gråsten, Rinkenæs, Sønderhav, and Kollund. In Germany at the Danish border there is Harrislee, at the inner end of the inlet the town of Flensburg, east of it on the southern shore the town of Glücksburg and the villages of Munkbrarup, Langballig, Westerholz, Quern, Steinbergkirche, Niesgrau, Gelting, and Nieby. The tourist attractions of the Flensburg Firth are the church of Broager, the Ox Isles, Sønderborg Castle, Glücksburg Castle, the Naval Academy Mürwik (known as the Red Castle) and the harbour of Flensburg.

The Isted Lion (or Flensburg Lion) (Danish: Istedløven or Flensborgløven), German: Flensburger Löwe or Idstedter Löwe) is a Danish war monument originally intended as a monument of the Danish victory over German-minded Schleswig-Holstein insurgents in the Battle of Isted (Idstedt) on 25 July 1850, during the First Schleswig War which was a civil war within the Danish Realm, although with troops from Prussia supporting the Schleswig-Holstein insurgents. At its time it was the largest battle in Scandinavian history. Others perceived it more as a memorial for the Danish dead in the battle.Originally erected in Flensburg, Schleswig during still Danish rule, it was moved to Berlin by Prussian authorities after Prussian conquests in the Second Schleswig War of 1864 and remained there until 1945. It was returned to Denmark as a gift from the United States Army and was located at Søren Kierkegaards Plads in Copenhagen. In September 2011 it was returned to Flensburg.

Flensburg (German pronunciation: [ˈflɛnsbʊʁk] (listen); Danish, Low Saxon: Flensborg; North Frisian: Flansborj; South Jutlandic: Flensborre) is an independent town (kreisfreie Stadt) in the north of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Flensburg is the centre of the region of Southern Schleswig. After Kiel and Lübeck, it is the third largest town in Schleswig-Holstein. The nearest larger towns are Kiel (86 kilometres (53 miles) south) and Odense in Denmark (92 km (57 mi) northeast). Flensburg's city centre lies about 7 km (4 mi) from the Danish border.

Flensburger Brauerei is a brewery located in Flensburg in the Bundesland (federal state) of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is one of the last country-wide operating breweries not being part of a larger brewery group. The company was founded on September 6, 1888, by five citizens of Flensburg. Today it is still mainly held by the founder families Petersen and Dethleffsen.

The Klues Forest (German: Klueser Wald or Kluesries and Danish: Klusris) is a forest which lies in Schleswig-Holstein/North-Germany, between Flensburg and Harrislee. Klues Forest has a size of nearly 436 morgen. The forest is populated with typical trees for the area and climate, such as beech, oak, ash, alder and spruce. Many people of Flensburg and neighboring Denmark use the forest for its aesthetic presence and local recreation. The "Erholungswald" (recreational forest) area, with a size of 304 morgen, has barbecues, a natural children's playground and a "Waldlehrgarten", that presents information about trees, the forest, and the history of Klues Forest and the area it belongs to. The forest is part of the "Forstamt Schleswig-Holstein", the forest district of Schleswig-Holstein.

German submarine U-717 was a Type VIIC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. The submarine was laid down on 24 April 1942 at the H. C. Stülcken Sohn yard at Hamburg, launched on 20 February 1943, and commissioned on 19 May 1943 under the command of Oberleutnant zur See Siegfried von Rothkirch und Panthen. Attached to 5th U-boat Flotilla based at Kiel, U-717 completed her training period on 31 July 1944 and was assigned to front-line service.

Flensburg station is the main station of the city of Flensburg in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Lines run from it to Kiel, to Hamburg via Schleswig and Neumünster and to Fredericia in Denmark. Between December 2007 and December 2015, Flensburg was connected to Deutsche Bahn's Intercity-Express network. The station also handles cross-border rail traffic between Germany and Denmark.

Kupfermühle (Danish: Kobbermølle, both names meaning "copper mill") is a village located north of Flensburg in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is located near the Flensburg Fjord just south of the easternmost part of the Danish-German border.

Mürwik (Danish: Mørvig) is a community of Flensburg in the north of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Situated on the east side of the Flensburg Firth, it is on the Angeln peninsula. Mürwik is the location of the Naval Academy at Mürwik, which is the main academy that trains German Navy officers. Nazi Germany's final government, the Flensburg government, was located in Mürwik. Mürwik is also known for the sail training ship Gorch Fock of the Naval Academy Mürwik and for the database of traffic violators of Germany (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt, often short: KBA). Some of the most affluent areas in Flensburg are located in Mürwik.

The Naval Academy Mürwik (German: Marineschule Mürwik) is the main training establishment for all German Navy officers and in 1910 replaced the German Imperial Naval Academy in Kiel. ( which is now the seat of government or ''Landeshaus'' of Schleswig-Holstein) It is located at Mürwik which is a part of Germany's northernmost city, Flensburg. Built on a small hill directly by the coast, it overlooks the Flensburg Fjord.
