Desert Hot Springs is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The city is located within the Coachella Valley geographic region. The population was 32,512 as of the 2020 census, up from 25,938 at the 2010 census. The city has experienced rapid growth since the 1970s when there were 2,700 residents. The city is commonly referred to by its initials, DHS. It is named for its many natural hot springs. It is one of several places in the world with naturally occurring hot and cold mineral springs.: 7  More than 20 natural mineral spring lodgings can be found in town. Unlike hot springs with high sulfur content, the mineral springs in town are odorless.

Desert Hot Springs High School, also abbreviated as DHSHS, is a public high school for grades 9–12. It is located in Desert Hot Springs, California. The school is one of four comprehensive high schools in the Palm Springs Unified School District.

Cabot's Pueblo Museum is an American historic house museum located in Desert Hot Springs, California, and built by Cabot Yerxa, an early pioneer of the Colorado Desert. A large, Hopi-style pueblo, built in the Pueblo Revival Style, it contains artworks, artifacts of American Indian and Alaska Native cultures, and memorabilia of early desert homesteader life. The museum may also be referred to as Cabot's Old Indian Pueblo Museum, Cabot's Trading Post or Yerxa's Discovery.

North Palm Springs is an unincorporated community in Riverside County, California, United States. North Palm Springs is located at the intersection of Dillon Road and North Indian Canyon Drive near the northern border of Palm Springs, south of Interstate 10. In the 1950s and early 1960s, North Palm Springs hosted several businesses including a shoe repair shop, coin laundry, two bars that served burgers and other basic fare (one of which is still open under a new name), a Chinese restaurant, and a gas station that was connected to a restaurant and bar. There was one very small general store-type market. The nearest elementary school was in Desert Hot Springs (K-6), and junior high and high schools were in Palm Springs.An estimated 2,000 residents lived in North Palm Springs in the 2010 Census.Historically, it was the base of the Mission Creek Band of Cahuilla with a former Indian Reservation located northwest of the town.

The 1992 Joshua Tree earthquake occurred at 9:50:25 p.m. PDT (04:50:25 UTC) on April 22 in Southern California. The magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck under the Little San Bernardino Mountains, near the town of Joshua Tree, California. Though no deaths were reported, the earthquake caused 32 injuries. A maximum Mercalli intensity of VII (Very Strong) was observed in Joshua Tree and caused light to moderate damage. The event preceded the Landers and Big Bear earthquakes by two months but is now recognized as the beginning of a series of major earthquakes that culminated in two events on June 28, 1992.

B Bar H Ranch's approximate 240 acres are bordered by 18th Avenue to the north, Mountain View Road to the east, 20th Avenue to the south, and Bubbling Wells Road to the west. B Bar H Ranch consisted of approximately 899 residents as of the 2010 US Census.

The Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is a 31,000-acres (130 km2) native plants habitat and wildlife preserve located in the Little San Bernardino Mountains of the Transverse Ranges, in the transition zone between the higher Mojave Desert and lower elevation Colorado Desert section of the Sonoran Desert. Due to its location within this transition zone, the area is especially high in natural diversity. The natural spring fed desert oasis found here is one of the 10 largest Cottonwood (Populus fremontii) and Willow (Salix lasiolepis) riparian habitats in California. It is also identified by the Audubon Society as one of the most important avian habitat areas in California.The entrance to the preserve is located within Morongo Valley, California, an unincorporated town within San Bernardino County just off California State Route 62. Admission is free. The preserve is open from 7:30 am to sunset, each day.

The 2016 I-10 tour bus crash was a vehicle accident that occurred on Interstate 10 (I-10) in California on October 23, 2016, when a tour bus slammed into the back of a semi-trailer truck. The crash killed 13 and injured 30 others.

Palm Springs station is a train station in the Garnet community of Palm Springs, California, United States, served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. The Sunset Limited and the Texas Eagle, combined, provide a thrice-weekly service in each direction. This is not a full-service station. The station comprises a single platform and an open-air shelter with a roof. It was built in 1999, and the property is owned by the City of Palm Springs. No services are offered at this unmanned station. The station is approximately 7 miles (11 km) north of Palm Springs, and there are no connecting transportation services between the station and downtown except for taxi cabs and app-based ride services. Greyhound Lines also has a stop (no ticketing) at the station.The station was temporarily closed in May 2021 when desert sandstorms caused sand drifts near the station, making it unsafe for passengers. The station reopened on August 28, 2021.

Desert Edge is a census-designated place in Riverside County, California, United States. Desert Edge sits at an elevation of 994 feet (303 m). The 2010 United States census reported Desert Edge's population was 3,822.

The San Gorgonio Pass wind farm is a wind farm that stretches from the eastern slope of the San Gorgonio Pass, near Cabazon, to North Palm Springs, on the western end of the Coachella Valley, in Riverside County, California. Flanked by Mount San Gorgonio and the Transverse Ranges to the North, and Mount San Jacinto and the Peninsular Ranges to the South, the San Gorgonio Pass is a transitional zone from a Mediterranean climate west of the pass, to a Desert climate east of the pass. This makes the pass area one of the most consistently windy places in the United States.Development of the wind farm began in the 1980s. It is one of three major wind farms in California, along with those at Altamont and the Tehachapi passes.
